Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,

“Como você pode se considerar um sábio, dando respostas vazias como essas? Isso é conversa que enche o estômago de vento.
¿Si proferirá el sabio vana sabiduría, y henchirá su vientre de viento solano?
Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?
“Should a wise man answer with vain knowledge, and fill himself with the east wind?
Para que falar tanto sem propósito, e apresentar razões completamente sem lógica?
¿Disputará con palabras inútiles, y con razones sin provecho?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk, or with speeches with which he can do no good?
Você só está demonstrando que não respeita Deus e não dá a ele o devido valor.
Tú también disipas el temor, y menoscabas la oración delante de Dios.
Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.
Yes, you do away with fear, and hinder devotion before God.
Suas palavras são resultado de seu pecado, e você fala com segundas intenções, para nos enganar.
Porque tu boca declaró tu iniquidad, pues has escogido el hablar de los astutos.
For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
For your iniquity teaches your mouth, and you choose the language of the crafty.
Saiba que a sua própria boca o condena, suas próprias palavras depõem contra você!
Tu boca te condenará, y no yo; y tus labios testificarán contra ti.
Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.
Your own mouth condemns you, and not I. Yes, your own lips testify against you.
“Por acaso você é o primeiro homem que nasceu sobre a terra, o mais velho entre os montes e morros?
¿Naciste tú primero que Adam? ¿ó fuiste formado antes que los collados?
Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?
“Are you the first man who was born? Or were you brought out before the hills?
Por acaso você conhece os planos secretos de Deus? Só você é o dono da verdade e da sabedoria?
¿Oíste tú el secreto de Dios, que detienes en ti solo la sabiduría?
Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
Have you heard the secret counsel of God? Do you limit wisdom to yourself?
O que você pensa saber mais do que nós? Que compreensão você tem que nós não temos?
¿Qué sabes tú que no sepamos? ¿qué entiendes que no se halle en nosotros?
What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?
What do you know that we don’t know? What do you understand which is not in us?
Homens sábios e idosos, homens de cabelos brancos, mais velhos do que o seu próprio pai, estão do nosso lado.
Entre nosotros también hay cano, también hay viejo mucho mayor en días que tu padre.
With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.

Por que você despreza a ajuda e o consolo que Deus lhe oferece por meio das nossas palavras amigas?
¿En tan poco tienes las consolaciones de Dios? ¿tienes acaso alguna cosa oculta cerca de ti?
Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?
Are the consolations of God too small for you, even the word that is gentle toward you?
Por que você se deixou levar pelo coração? E por que esse olhar flamejante?
¿Por qué te enajena tu corazón, y por qué guiñan tus ojos,
Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,
Why does your heart carry you away? Why do your eyes flash,
Você está irado com Deus e por isso deixa sair essas palavras da sua boca!
Pues haces frente á Dios con tu espíritu, y sacas tales palabras de tu boca?
That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?
that you turn your spirit against God, and let such words go out of your mouth?
“Como um simples homem pode ser puro e sem pecado? Como pode ser justo quem nasce de mulher?
¿Qué cosa es el hombre para que sea limpio, y que se justifique el nacido de mujer?
What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
What is man, that he should be clean? What is he who is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
Fique sabendo que Deus não considera nem os próprios santos inocentes e puros! Perto da santidade de Deus até o céu é impuro!
He aquí que en sus santos no confía, y ni los cielos son limpios delante de sus ojos:
Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.
Behold, he puts no trust in his holy ones. Yes, the heavens are not clean in his sight;
Que dizer então dos homens, impuros e perversos por natureza e cheios de pecado como uma esponja que cai na água?
¿Cuánto menos el hombre abominable y vil, que bebe la iniquidad como agua?
How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?
how much less one who is abominable and corrupt, a man who drinks iniquity like water!
“Escute com atenção, e eu lhe mostrarei o que descobri observando a vida.
Escúchame; yo te mostraré y te contaré lo que he visto:
I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;
“I will show you, listen to me; that which I have seen I will declare
Isso é o que descobriram os sábios do passado, que, por sua vez, já tinham ouvido as mesmas verdades dos seus pais,
(Lo que los sabios nos contaron de sus padres, y no lo encubrieron;
Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:

a quem foi dada a terra — e a mais ninguém — e que não receberam a influência de nenhum estrangeiro:

O pecador rebelde sofre tormentos no curto período de vida que se reserva para o opressor.

Ele vive cercado pelo medo e quando afinal consegue se sentir em paz, os ladrões o atacam.
Estruendos espantosos hay en sus oídos; en la paz le vendrá quien lo asuele.
A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
A sound of terrors is in his ears. In prosperity the destroyer will come on him.
Ele não tem esperanças de sair da escuridão, porque pensa que vai morrer ao fio da espada.
El no creerá que ha de volver de las tinieblas, y está mirando al cuchillo.
He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.
He doesn’t believe that he will return out of darkness. He is waited for by the sword.
Seu destino é perambular em busca de pão; os abutres o esperam para devorar o seu corpo. Ele bem sabe que o dia escuro do castigo chegará depressa.
Desasosegado á comer siempre, sabe que le está aparejado día de tinieblas.
He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.

Ele vive dominado pelo medo, pelas angústias e tribulações, como ocorre com um rei quando espera o ataque dos inimigos,
Tribulación y angustia le asombrarán, y esforzaránse contra él como un rey apercibido para la batalla.
Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.

porque agitou os punhos contra Deus, e desafiou o Todo-poderoso,
Por cuanto él extendió su mano contra Dios, y se esforzó contra el Todopoderoso,
For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.
Because he has stretched out his hand against God, and behaves himself proudly against the Almighty,
afrontando-o de forma desafiadora, com um escudo forte e resistente.
El le acometerá en la cerviz, en lo grueso de las hombreras de sus escudos:
He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
he runs at him with a stiff neck, with the thick shields of his bucklers,
“Apesar de ter o rosto coberto de gordura, e a cintura estufada de carne,
Porque cubrió su rostro con su gordura, é hizo pliegues sobre los ijares;
Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.
because he has covered his face with his fatness, and gathered fat on his thighs.
habitará em cidades assoladas, em casas abandonadas prestes a ruir.
Y habitó las ciudades asoladas, las casas inhabitadas, que estaban puestas en montones.
And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.
He has lived in desolate cities, in houses which no one inhabited, which were ready to become heaps.
Por causa disso, suas riquezas não ficarão com ele por muito tempo, e ele não conseguirá novas riquezas.
No enriquecerá, ni será firme su potencia, ni extenderá por la tierra su hermosura.
He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.
He will not be rich, neither will his substance continue, neither will their possessions be extended on the earth.
Ele não escapará das trevas; o fogo secará os seus renovos, com um sopro de Deus ele se vai.
No se escapará de las tinieblas: la llama secará sus ramos, y con el aliento de su boca perecerá.
He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.
He will not depart out of darkness. The flame will dry up his branches. He will go away by the breath of God’s mouth.
“Por isso, ele não deve confiar na vaidade, enganando-se a si mesmo, pois a vaidade será sua recompensa.
No confíe el iluso en la vanidad; porque ella será su recompensa.
Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.
Let him not trust in emptiness, deceiving himself, for emptiness will be his reward.
Ela o consumirá antes do tempo, e os seus ramos não florescerão.

It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.

Pois a vida com os ímpios não tem sentido, e o fogo destruirá as tendas daqueles que subornam.
Porque la sociedad de los hipócritas será asolada, y fuego consumirá las tiendas de soborno.
For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
For the company of the godless will be barren, and fire will consume the tents of bribery.
Deles só brota a maldade; eles só vivem em desobediência a Deus, e têm um coração enganoso”.
Concibieron dolor, y parieron iniquidad; y las entrañas de ellos meditan engaño.
They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.
