Est-il digne du sage de mettre en avant des raisons futiles, de gonfler son sein de vent?
¿Si proferirá el sabio vana sabiduría, y henchirá su vientre de viento solano?
Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?

d'employer des arguments sans valeur et des paroles qui ne servent de rien?
¿Disputará con palabras inútiles, y con razones sin provecho?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?

Tu en viens à saper la piété, à supprimer les prières au Tout-Puissant!
Tú también disipas el temor, y menoscabas la oración delante de Dios.
Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.
Yes, you do away with fear, and hinder devotion before God.
C'est ton iniquité qui inspire ta bouche, et ainsi tu adoptes le langage de la mauvaise foi.
Porque tu boca declaró tu iniquidad, pues has escogido el hablar de los astutos.
For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
For your iniquity teaches your mouth, and you choose the language of the crafty.
C'est ta bouche qui te condamne, et non moi; tes propres lèvres témoignent contre toi.
Tu boca te condenará, y no yo; y tus labios testificarán contra ti.
Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.
Your own mouth condemns you, and not I. Yes, your own lips testify against you.
Es-tu donc, par ta naissance, le premier des hommes? As-tu vu le jour avant les collines?
¿Naciste tú primero que Adam? ¿ó fuiste formado antes que los collados?
Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?
“Are you the first man who was born? Or were you brought out before the hills?
As-tu entendu ce qui se dit dans le conseil de Dieu? As-tu confisqué à ton profit la sagesse?
¿Oíste tú el secreto de Dios, que detienes en ti solo la sabiduría?
Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
Have you heard the secret counsel of God? Do you limit wisdom to yourself?
Que sais-tu que nous ne sachions? Que comprends-tu qui nous échappe?
¿Qué sabes tú que no sepamos? ¿qué entiendes que no se halle en nosotros?
What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?
What do you know that we don’t know? What do you understand which is not in us?
Parmi nous aussi il est des gens vénérables par l'âge, des vieillards plus riches de jours que ton père.
Entre nosotros también hay cano, también hay viejo mucho mayor en días que tu padre.
With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.

Comptes-tu pour rien les consolations de Dieu et la parole qui t'a été dite en douceur?
¿En tan poco tienes las consolaciones de Dios? ¿tienes acaso alguna cosa oculta cerca de ti?
Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?
Are the consolations of God too small for you, even the word that is gentle toward you?
Pourquoi te laisser emporter par ton cœur? Pourquoi rouler ainsi tes yeux?
¿Por qué te enajena tu corazón, y por qué guiñan tus ojos,
Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,
Why does your heart carry you away? Why do your eyes flash,
Pourquoi tourner ta mauvaise humeur contre Dieu et laisser échapper de tels discours de ta bouche?
Pues haces frente á Dios con tu espíritu, y sacas tales palabras de tu boca?
That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?

Qu'est-ce donc que l'homme pour se prétendre pur et l'enfant de la femme pour se dire juste?
¿Qué cosa es el hombre para que sea limpio, y que se justifique el nacido de mujer?
What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

Quoi! Même en ses saints il n'a pas confiance, et les cieux ne sont pas sans tache à ses yeux!
He aquí que en sus santos no confía, y ni los cielos son limpios delante de sus ojos:
Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.

Que sera-ce de cet être méprisable et corrompu, de l'homme qui boit l'iniquité comme l'eau?
¿Cuánto menos el hombre abominable y vil, que bebe la iniquidad como agua?
How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?
how much less one who is abominable and corrupt, a man who drinks iniquity like water!
Je veux t'instruire, écoute-moi; je veux t'exposer ce que j'ai vu;
Escúchame; yo te mostraré y te contaré lo que he visto:
I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;
“I will show you, listen to me; that which I have seen I will declare
ce que racontent les sages, sans rien dissimuler, comme une tradition de leurs pères,
(Lo que los sabios nos contaron de sus padres, y no lo encubrieron;
Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:

qui furent, seuls, maîtres de ce pays et auxquels nul étranger ne s'est mêlé:

"Les tourments remplissent toute la vie du méchant, tout le cours des années mesurées au tyran.

Ses oreilles ne cessent d'entendre un bruit terrifiant; en pleine paix, il se voit assaillir par le dévastateur.
Estruendos espantosos hay en sus oídos; en la paz le vendrá quien lo asuele.
A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
A sound of terrors is in his ears. In prosperity the destroyer will come on him.
Il renonce à l'espoir d'échapper aux ténèbres, il se sait prédestiné au glaive.
El no creerá que ha de volver de las tinieblas, y está mirando al cuchillo.
He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.
He doesn’t believe that he will return out of darkness. He is waited for by the sword.
Il erre ça et là pour chercher du pain: il a conscience que des jours sombres se préparent pour lui.
Desasosegado á comer siempre, sabe que le está aparejado día de tinieblas.
He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.

La détresse et l'angoisse le jettent dans l'épouvante; elles l'étreignent comme un roi qui monte à l'assaut.
Tribulación y angustia le asombrarán, y esforzaránse contra él como un rey apercibido para la batalla.
Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.

C'est qu'il a dirigé sa main contre Dieu, il s'est élevé contre le Tout-Puissant.
Por cuanto él extendió su mano contra Dios, y se esforzó contra el Todopoderoso,
For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.
Because he has stretched out his hand against God, and behaves himself proudly against the Almighty,
C'est qu'il lui a couru sus, le cou tendu, couvert de toute l'épaisseur de ses boucliers bombés.
El le acometerá en la cerviz, en lo grueso de las hombreras de sus escudos:
He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
he runs at him with a stiff neck, with the thick shields of his bucklers,
C'est qu'il a le visage épaissi par la graisse et le dos arrondi par l'embonpoint.
Porque cubrió su rostro con su gordura, é hizo pliegues sobre los ijares;
Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.
because he has covered his face with his fatness, and gathered fat on his thighs.
Aussi se fixe-t-il dans des villes en ruines, dans des maisons qui ne sont pas habitables, étant destinées à se changer en décombres.
Y habitó las ciudades asoladas, las casas inhabitadas, que estaban puestas en montones.
And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.

Il ne s'enrichira pas, sa fortune ne subsistera point; tel un arbre sans fruits il n'inclinera pas à terre le sommet de ses branches.
No enriquecerá, ni será firme su potencia, ni extenderá por la tierra su hermosura.
He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.

Il ne sortira plus des ténèbres; ses rejetons seront consumés par le feu; il disparaîtra comme par un souffle de Dieu.
No se escapará de las tinieblas: la llama secará sus ramos, y con el aliento de su boca perecerá.
He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.

Qu'il n'espère rien de la fraude! II a fait fausse route. La déception sera son salaire.
No confíe el iluso en la vanidad; porque ella será su recompensa.
Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.
Let him not trust in emptiness, deceiving himself, for emptiness will be his reward.
Sa carrière sera achevée avant le temps, et son toit de feuillage ne reverdira plus.

Car la bande des pervers est condamnée à la stérilité; le feu dévore les tentes où s'entassent les dons de la corruption. 35 Ils conçoivent le mal, ils enfantent le malheur. Leur sein couve la perfidie.
Porque la sociedad de los hipócritas será asolada, y fuego consumirá las tiendas de soborno.
For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
For the company of the godless will be barren, and fire will consume the tents of bribery.
