Infino a quando addoglierete voi l'anima mia, E mi triterete con parole?
¿Hasta cuándo angustiaréis mi alma, y me moleréis con palabras?
How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?
“How long will you torment me, and crush me with words?
Già dieci volte voi mi avete fatta onta; Non vi vergognate voi di procedere così stranamente meco?
Ya me habéis vituperado diez veces: ¿no os avergonzáis de descomediros delante de mí?
These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.
You have reproached me ten times. You aren’t ashamed that you attack me.
Ma pure, sia così certamente che io abbia fallito, Il mio fallo dimorerà meco.
Sea así que realmente haya yo errado, conmigo se quedará mi yerro.
And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
If it is true that I have erred, my error remains with myself.
Se pur volete innalzarvi sopra a me, E volete rimproverarmi il mio vituperio,
Mas si vosotros os engrandeciereis contra mí, y adujereis contra mí mi oprobio,
If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:
If indeed you will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach,
Sappiate ora che Iddio mi ha sovvertito, E ch'egli mi ha intorniato della sua rete.
Sabed ahora que Dios me ha trastornado, y traído en derredor su red sobre mí.
Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.

Ecco, io grido violenza, e non sono esaudito; Io sclamo, e non mi si fa ragione.
He aquí yo clamaré agravio, y no seré oído: daré voces, y no habrá juicio.
Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.

Egli ha abbarrata la mia via sì che io non posso passare; Ed ha poste le tenebre sopra i miei sentieri.
Cercó de vallado mi camino, y no pasaré; y sobre mis veredas puso tinieblas.
He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.
He has walled up my way so that I can’t pass, and has set darkness in my paths.
Egli mi ha spogliato della mia gloria, E mi ha tolta la corona del mio capo.
Hame despojado de mi gloria, y quitado la corona de mi cabeza.
He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.

Egli mi ha disfatto d'ogn'intorno, sì che io me ne vo via; Ed ha fatta dileguar la mia speranza, come quella di un albero;
Arruinóme por todos lados, y perezco; y ha hecho pasar mi esperanza como árbol arrancado.
He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.
He has broken me down on every side, and I am gone. He has plucked my hope up like a tree.
Ed ha accesa la sua ira contro a me, E mi ha reputato per uno de' suoi nemici.
E hizo inflamar contra mí su furor, y contóme para sí entre sus enemigos.
He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.
He has also kindled his wrath against me. He counts me among his adversaries.
Le sue schiere son venute tutte insieme, E si hanno spianata la via contro a me, E si sono accampate intorno al mio tabernacolo.
Vinieron sus ejércitos á una, y trillaron sobre mí su camino, y asentaron campo en derredor de mi tienda.
His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.
His troops come on together, build a siege ramp against me, and encamp around my tent.
Egli ha allontanati d'appresso a me i miei fratelli; I miei conoscenti si son del tutto alienati da me.
Hizo alejar de mí mis hermanos, y positivamente se extrañaron de mí mis conocidos.
He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.
“He has put my brothers far from me. My acquaintances are wholly estranged from me.
I miei prossimi se ne son rimasti, Ed i miei conoscenti mi hanno dimenticato.
Mis parientes se detuvieron, y mis conocidos se olvidaron de mí.
My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.
My relatives have gone away. My familiar friends have forgotten me.
I miei famigliari, e le mie serventi, mi tengono per istraniero; Io paio loro un forestiere.
Los moradores de mi casa y mis criadas me tuvieron por extraño: forastero fuí yo en sus ojos.
They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.
Those who dwell in my house and my maids consider me a stranger. I am an alien in their sight.
Io chiamo il mio servitore, ed egli non risponde, Quantunque io lo preghi di mia bocca.
Llamé á mi siervo, y no respondió; de mi propia boca le suplicaba.
I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.
I call to my servant, and he gives me no answer. I beg him with my mouth.
Il mio fiato è divenuto stranio alla mia moglie, Benchè io la supplichi per li figliuoli del mio ventre.
Mi aliento vino á ser extraño á mi mujer, aunque por los hijos de mis entrañas le rogaba.
My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children’s sake of mine own body.
My breath is offensive to my wife. I am loathsome to the children of my own mother.
Fino a' piccoli fanciulli mi disdegnano; Se io mi levo, sparlano di me.
Aun los muchachos me menospreciaron: en levantándome, hablaban contra mí.
Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.
Even young children despise me. If I arise, they speak against me.
Tutti i miei consiglieri segreti mi abbominano; E quelli che io amava si son rivolti contro a me.
Todos mis confidentes me aborrecieron; y los que yo amaba, se tornaron contra mí.
All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.
All my familiar friends abhor me. They whom I loved have turned against me.
Le mie ossa sono attaccate alla mia pelle ed alla mia carne; E non mi è rimasto altro di salvo che la pelle d'intorno a' miei denti.
Mi cuero y mi carne se pegaron á mis huesos; y he escapado con la piel de mis dientes.
My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
My bones stick to my skin and to my flesh. I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.
Abbiate pietà di me, abbiate pietà di me, o voi amici miei; Perciocchè la mano del Signore mi ha toccato.

Oh! fosser pur ora scritti i miei ragionamenti! Oh! fosser pure stampati in un libro!
¡Quién diese ahora que mis palabras fuesen escritas! ¡quién diese que se escribieran en un libro!
Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
“Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!
Oh! fossero in sempiterno intagliati con uno scarpello di ferro E con del piombo, sopra un sasso!
¡Que con cincel de hierro y con plomo fuesen en piedra esculpidas para siempre!
That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
That with an iron pen and lead they were engraved in the rock forever!
Ora, quant'è a me, io so che il mio Redentore vive, E che nell'ultimo giorno egli si leverà sopra la polvere;
Yo sé que mi Redentor vive, y al fin se levantará sobre el polvo:
For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth.
E quantunque, dopo la mia pelle, questo corpo sia roso, Pur vedrò con la carne mia Iddio;
Y después de deshecha esta mi piel, aun he de ver en mi carne á Dios;
And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
After my skin is destroyed, then I will see God in my flesh,
Il quale io vedrò, gli occhi miei lo vedranno, e non un altro; Le mie reni si consumano in me.
Al cual yo tengo de ver por mí, y mis ojos lo verán, y no otro, aunque mis riñones se consuman dentro de mí.
Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
whom I, even I, will see on my side. My eyes will see, and not as a stranger. “My heart is consumed within me.
Anzi dovreste dire: Perchè lo perseguitiamo noi? Poichè la radice della parola si ritrova in me.
Mas debierais decir: ¿Por qué lo perseguimos? ya que la raíz del negocio en mí se halla.
But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?
If you say, ‘How we will persecute him!’ because the root of the matter is found in me,
Temiate della spada; Perciocchè il supplicio dell'iniquità è la spada; Acciocchè sappiate che vi è un giudicio.
Temed vosotros delante de la espada; porque sobreviene el furor de la espada á causa de las injusticias, para que sepáis que hay un juicio.
Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.
