»Wie lange wollt ihr mein Herz noch betrüben und mich mit Reden martern?
¿Hasta cuándo angustiaréis mi alma, y me moleréis con palabras?
How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?
“How long will you torment me, and crush me with words?
Schon zehnmal habt ihr mich geschmäht; ihr schämt euch nicht, mir wehzutun!
Ya me habéis vituperado diez veces: ¿no os avergonzáis de descomediros delante de mí?
These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.
You have reproached me ten times. You aren’t ashamed that you attack me.
Und hätte ich mich wirklich verfehlt, so wäre doch meine Verfehlung meine eigene Sache.
Sea así que realmente haya yo errado, conmigo se quedará mi yerro.
And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
If it is true that I have erred, my error remains with myself.
Wollt ihr wirklich gegen mich großtun, so erbringt mir den Beweis für das mich Beschämende!
Mas si vosotros os engrandeciereis contra mí, y adujereis contra mí mi oprobio,
If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:
If indeed you will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach,
Erkennt doch, daß Gott mir unrecht getan und mich mit seinem Fangnetz rings umgarnt hat!«
Sabed ahora que Dios me ha trastornado, y traído en derredor su red sobre mí.
Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.
know now that God has subverted me, and has surrounded me with his net.
»Seht: schreie ich über Gewalttat, so finde ich keine Erhörung; rufe ich um Hilfe, so gibt es keinen Rechtsspruch.
He aquí yo clamaré agravio, y no seré oído: daré voces, y no habrá juicio.
Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.
“Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard. I cry for help, but there is no justice.
Den Weg hat er mir vermauert, so daß ich nicht weiterschreiten kann, und über meine Pfade hat er Finsternis ausgebreitet.
Cercó de vallado mi camino, y no pasaré; y sobre mis veredas puso tinieblas.
He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.
He has walled up my way so that I can’t pass, and has set darkness in my paths.
Meiner Ehre hat er mich entkleidet und die Krone mir vom Haupte weggenommen.
Hame despojado de mi gloria, y quitado la corona de mi cabeza.
He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.

Er hat mich niedergerissen um und um, so daß es aus mit mir ist, und hat meine Hoffnung ausgerissen wie einen Baum.
Arruinóme por todos lados, y perezco; y ha hecho pasar mi esperanza como árbol arrancado.
He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.
He has broken me down on every side, and I am gone. He has plucked my hope up like a tree.
Er hat seinen Zorn gegen mich lodern lassen und mich seinen Feinden gleichgeachtet.
E hizo inflamar contra mí su furor, y contóme para sí entre sus enemigos.
He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.
He has also kindled his wrath against me. He counts me among his adversaries.
Allzumal sind seine Kriegerscharen herangerückt, haben sich einen Weg zum Angriff gegen mich aufgeschüttet und sich rings um mein Zelt her gelagert.
Vinieron sus ejércitos á una, y trillaron sobre mí su camino, y asentaron campo en derredor de mi tienda.
His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.
His troops come on together, build a siege ramp against me, and encamp around my tent.
Meine Brüder haben sich fern von mir gehalten, und meine Bekannten sind mir ganz entfremdet;
Hizo alejar de mí mis hermanos, y positivamente se extrañaron de mí mis conocidos.
He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.
“He has put my brothers far from me. My acquaintances are wholly estranged from me.
meine Verwandten bleiben weg, und meine vertrauten Freunde haben mich vergessen;
Mis parientes se detuvieron, y mis conocidos se olvidaron de mí.
My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.
My relatives have gone away. My familiar friends have forgotten me.
meine Hausgenossen und selbst meine Mägde sehen in mir einen Fremden: ein Unbekannter bin ich in ihren Augen geworden.
Los moradores de mi casa y mis criadas me tuvieron por extraño: forastero fuí yo en sus ojos.
They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.
Those who dwell in my house and my maids consider me a stranger. I am an alien in their sight.
Rufe ich meinen Knecht, so antwortet er mir nicht: ich muß ihn anflehen und ihm gute Worte geben.
Llamé á mi siervo, y no respondió; de mi propia boca le suplicaba.
I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.

Mein Atem ist meinem Weibe zuwider und mein übler Geruch meinen leiblichen Brüdern.
Mi aliento vino á ser extraño á mi mujer, aunque por los hijos de mis entrañas le rogaba.
My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children’s sake of mine own body.
My breath is offensive to my wife. I am loathsome to the children of my own mother.
Selbst die Buben mißachten mich: mache ich (vergebliche) Versuche zum Aufstehen, so verspotten sie mich.
Aun los muchachos me menospreciaron: en levantándome, hablaban contra mí.
Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.
Even young children despise me. If I arise, they speak against me.
Allen meinen Vertrauten ekelt vor mir, und die ich liebgehabt habe, stehen mir feindlich gegenüber.
Todos mis confidentes me aborrecieron; y los que yo amaba, se tornaron contra mí.
All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.
All my familiar friends abhor me. They whom I loved have turned against me.
An meiner Haut und meinem Fleisch kleben meine Knochen, und von meinen Zähnen habe ich nur die Haut übrigbehalten.«
Mi cuero y mi carne se pegaron á mis huesos; y he escapado con la piel de mis dientes.
My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
My bones stick to my skin and to my flesh. I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.
»Habt Mitleid, habt Mitleid mit mir, ihr meine Freunde! Denn Gottes Hand hat mich schwer getroffen.
Oh vosotros mis amigos, tened compasión de mí, tened compasión de mí; porque la mano de Dios me ha tocado.
Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.
“Have pity on me. Have pity on me, you my friends, for the hand of God has touched me.
Warum verfolgt ihr mich ebenso wie Gott und werdet nicht satt, mich zu zerfleischen?
¿Por qué me perseguís como Dios, y no os hartáis de mis carnes?
Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?

O daß doch meine Worte aufgeschrieben, o daß sie in ein Buch eingetragen würden,
¡Quién diese ahora que mis palabras fuesen escritas! ¡quién diese que se escribieran en un libro!
Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
“Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!
mit eisernem Griffel in Blei eingegraben, auf ewig in den Felsen eingehauen würden!
¡Que con cincel de hierro y con plomo fuesen en piedra esculpidas para siempre!
That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
That with an iron pen and lead they were engraved in the rock forever!
Ich aber, ich weiß, daß mein Löser lebt und als letzter auf dem Staube auftreten wird;
Yo sé que mi Redentor vive, y al fin se levantará sobre el polvo:
For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth.
und danach werde ich, mag jetzt auch meine Haut so ganz zerfetzt und ich meines Fleisches ledig sein, Gott schauen,
Y después de deshecha esta mi piel, aun he de ver en mi carne á Dios;
And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
After my skin is destroyed, then I will see God in my flesh,
den ich schauen werde mir zum Heil und den meine Augen sehen werden, und zwar nicht mehr als einen Entfremdeten, ihn, um den sich mir das Herz in der Brust abgehärmt hat.
Al cual yo tengo de ver por mí, y mis ojos lo verán, y no otro, aunque mis riñones se consuman dentro de mí.
Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
whom I, even I, will see on my side. My eyes will see, and not as a stranger. “My heart is consumed within me.
Wenn ihr aber sagt: ›Wie wollen wir ihn verfolgen!‹ und ›der letzte Grund der Sache sei in mir selbst zu finden‹,
Mas debierais decir: ¿Por qué lo perseguimos? ya que la raíz del negocio en mí se halla.
But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?
If you say, ‘How we will persecute him!’ because the root of the matter is found in me,
so fürchtet euch vor dem Schwert – denn derartige Verschuldungen verdienen die Strafe des Schwertes –, damit ihr erkennt, daß es noch ein Gericht gibt!«
Temed vosotros delante de la espada; porque sobreviene el furor de la espada á causa de las injusticias, para que sepáis que hay un juicio.
Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.
