“Até quando vocês vão me castigar com essas acusações falsas? Até quando encherão meu coração de tristeza?
¿Hasta cuándo angustiaréis mi alma, y me moleréis con palabras?
How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?
“How long will you torment me, and crush me with words?
Já perdi a conta de quantas vezes vocês me repreenderam; para vocês, isso parece ser algo sem a menor importância.
Ya me habéis vituperado diez veces: ¿no os avergonzáis de descomediros delante de mí?
These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.
You have reproached me ten times. You aren’t ashamed that you attack me.
Eu reconheço que não sou perfeito, mas comigo ficará o meu erro.
Sea así que realmente haya yo errado, conmigo se quedará mi yerro.
And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
If it is true that I have erred, my error remains with myself.
Vocês estão querendo usar a minha desgraça para provar a si mesmos que são muito justos e sinceros, e usam contra mim a minha humilhação;
Mas si vosotros os engrandeciereis contra mí, y adujereis contra mí mi oprobio,
If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:
If indeed you will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach,
fiquem sabendo que meu sofrimento veio de Deus e foi ele que me prendeu em sua rede!
Sabed ahora que Dios me ha trastornado, y traído en derredor su red sobre mí.
Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.

Eu grito: É injustiça! Mas não obtenho resposta; clamo por socorro, mas não há justiça.
He aquí yo clamaré agravio, y no seré oído: daré voces, y no habrá juicio.
Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.
“Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard. I cry for help, but there is no justice.
Deus transformou os meus caminhos em becos sem saída; cobriu a estrada da minha vida de escuridão.
Cercó de vallado mi camino, y no pasaré; y sobre mis veredas puso tinieblas.
He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.
He has walled up my way so that I can’t pass, and has set darkness in my paths.
Ele acabou com a minha honra e tirou a coroa da minha cabeça.
Hame despojado de mi gloria, y quitado la corona de mi cabeza.
He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.
He has stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.
Ele destruiu a minha vida de todas as maneiras possíveis. Minha esperança se foi, como uma árvore arrancada da terra.
Arruinóme por todos lados, y perezco; y ha hecho pasar mi esperanza como árbol arrancado.
He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.
He has broken me down on every side, and I am gone. He has plucked my hope up like a tree.
Sua ira ardeu como um fogo contra mim; ele me considera como um dos seus inimigos.
E hizo inflamar contra mí su furor, y contóme para sí entre sus enemigos.
He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.
He has also kindled his wrath against me. He counts me among his adversaries.
Mandou seus exércitos avançarem contra mim; me cercaram e acamparam-se ao redor da minha casa.
Vinieron sus ejércitos á una, y trillaron sobre mí su camino, y asentaron campo en derredor de mi tienda.
His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.
His troops come on together, build a siege ramp against me, and encamp around my tent.
“Ele fez meus irmãos se afastarem de mim e meus amigos me considerarem um desconhecido.
Hizo alejar de mí mis hermanos, y positivamente se extrañaron de mí mis conocidos.
He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.
“He has put my brothers far from me. My acquaintances are wholly estranged from me.
Os meus parentes não me dão ajuda e meus amigos nem se lembram de mim.
Mis parientes se detuvieron, y mis conocidos se olvidaron de mí.
My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.
My relatives have gone away. My familiar friends have forgotten me.
Os meus hóspedes e as minhas servas, que vivem em minha casa, me consideram um estranho; vim a ser um estrangeiro aos seus olhos.
Los moradores de mi casa y mis criadas me tuvieron por extraño: forastero fuí yo en sus ojos.
They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.
Those who dwell in my house and my maids consider me a stranger. I am an alien in their sight.
Chamo o meu servo, mas ele já não me obedece, e eu preciso pedir humildemente, se quero que meus servos façam algo para mim.
Llamé á mi siervo, y no respondió; de mi propia boca le suplicaba.
I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.
I call to my servant, and he gives me no answer. I beg him with my mouth.
Minha própria esposa não chega perto de mim porque acha o meu hálito repugnante; por causa do mau cheiro dessas feridas abertas, meus próprios irmãos não se aproximam de mim.
Mi aliento vino á ser extraño á mi mujer, aunque por los hijos de mis entrañas le rogaba.
My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children’s sake of mine own body.
My breath is offensive to my wife. I am loathsome to the children of my own mother.
Até as crianças zombam de mim e riem às minhas custas quando tento me levantar.
Aun los muchachos me menospreciaron: en levantándome, hablaban contra mí.
Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.
Even young children despise me. If I arise, they speak against me.
Todos os meus amigos achegados me detestam, aqueles a quem eu mais amava também me condenam e me desprezam.
Todos mis confidentes me aborrecieron; y los que yo amaba, se tornaron contra mí.
All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.
All my familiar friends abhor me. They whom I loved have turned against me.
Não passo de pele e osso; escapei só com a pele dos meus dentes.
Mi cuero y mi carne se pegaron á mis huesos; y he escapado con la piel de mis dientes.
My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
My bones stick to my skin and to my flesh. I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.
“Tenham misericórdia de mim, meus amigos! Tenham pena de mim, porque a mão de Deus me derrubou.
Oh vosotros mis amigos, tened compasión de mí, tened compasión de mí; porque la mano de Dios me ha tocado.
Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.
“Have pity on me. Have pity on me, you my friends, for the hand of God has touched me.
Já não chega o castigo que recebo de Deus? Será que vocês também vão se voltar contra mim?
¿Por qué me perseguís como Dios, y no os hartáis de mis carnes?
Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?

“Ah, como eu gostaria que minhas palavras fossem registradas. Quem dera fossem gravadas num livro.
¡Quién diese ahora que mis palabras fuesen escritas! ¡quién diese que se escribieran en un libro!
Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
“Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!
Quem dera fossem gravadas com ferramentas de ferro e chumbo, ou gravadas para sempre numa rocha!
¡Que con cincel de hierro y con plomo fuesen en piedra esculpidas para siempre!
That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
That with an iron pen and lead they were engraved in the rock forever!
Eu sei que o meu Redentor vive e finalmente se colocará a meu favor sobre a terra.
Yo sé que mi Redentor vive, y al fin se levantará sobre el polvo:
For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth.
Eu sei que depois que a minha carne for consumida, sem ela estarei na presença de Deus.
Y después de deshecha esta mi piel, aun he de ver en mi carne á Dios;
And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
After my skin is destroyed, then I will see God in my flesh,
Sim, eu verei Deus face a face! Ninguém vai precisar me contar coisas sobre ele! Como desejo que esse dia chegue logo!
Al cual yo tengo de ver por mí, y mis ojos lo verán, y no otro, aunque mis riñones se consuman dentro de mí.
Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
whom I, even I, will see on my side. My eyes will see, and not as a stranger. “My heart is consumed within me.
“Por isso, se vocês disserem: ‘Como o perseguiremos, pois a raiz da aflição está nele’,
Mas debierais decir: ¿Por qué lo perseguimos? ya que la raíz del negocio en mí se halla.
But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?
If you say, ‘How we will persecute him!’ because the root of the matter is found in me,
tomem cuidado! Deus sabe que essas acusações são falsas e dará um castigo severo a vocês, e então vocês saberão que há juízo”.
Temed vosotros delante de la espada; porque sobreviene el furor de la espada á causa de las injusticias, para que sepáis que hay un juicio.
Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.
