Replicando Job a esto, dijo:

¿Hasta cuándo habéis de afligir mi alma, y molerme con esos discursos?
¿Hasta cuándo angustiaréis mi alma, y me moleréis con palabras?
How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?
“How long will you torment me, and crush me with words?
Ya por la décima o milésima vez os empeñáis en confundirme, y no os avergonzáis de oprimirme.
Ya me habéis vituperado diez veces: ¿no os avergonzáis de descomediros delante de mí?
These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.
You have reproached me ten times. You aren’t ashamed that you attack me.
Demos enhorabuena que yo haya errado en mis respuestas; el yerro mío contra mí será.
Sea así que realmente haya yo errado, conmigo se quedará mi yerro.
And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
If it is true that I have erred, my error remains with myself.
Pero vosotros os erguís contra mí, y me echáis en cara las humillaciones que padezco.
Mas si vosotros os engrandeciereis contra mí, y adujereis contra mí mi oprobio,
If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:
If indeed you will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach,
Al menos entended de una vez, que Dios no me atribula, ni descarga sobre mí sus azotes, según la tela de juicio.
Sabed ahora que Dios me ha trastornado, y traído en derredor su red sobre mí.
Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.
know now that God has subverted me, and has surrounded me with his net.
Mas ¡ay! Si en la violencia de los dolores que padezco, clamo altamente, nadie me escucha; voceo y no hay quien me haga justicia.
He aquí yo clamaré agravio, y no seré oído: daré voces, y no habrá juicio.
Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.
“Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard. I cry for help, but there is no justice.
El Señor ha cerrado por todas partes la senda de dolor por la cual ando; y no hallo por dónde salir, pues ha cubierto de tinieblas el camino que llevo.
Cercó de vallado mi camino, y no pasaré; y sobre mis veredas puso tinieblas.
He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.
He has walled up my way so that I can’t pass, and has set darkness in my paths.
Me despojó de mi gloria, y me quitó la corona de la cabeza.
Hame despojado de mi gloria, y quitado la corona de mi cabeza.
He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.
He has stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.
Me arruinó del todo, y así perezco, y como a un árbol arrancado de raíz, me ha privado de toda mi esperanza.
Arruinóme por todos lados, y perezco; y ha hecho pasar mi esperanza como árbol arrancado.
He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.
He has broken me down on every side, and I am gone. He has plucked my hope up like a tree.
Su furor está encendido contra mí, y me trata como a enemigo.
E hizo inflamar contra mí su furor, y contóme para sí entre sus enemigos.
He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.
He has also kindled his wrath against me. He counts me among his adversaries.
Vinieron de tropel sus tropas de gastadores, y se abrieron un camino para pasar por encima de mí y hollarme, y sitiaron con cerco mi morada.
Vinieron sus ejércitos á una, y trillaron sobre mí su camino, y asentaron campo en derredor de mi tienda.
His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.
His troops come on together, build a siege ramp against me, and encamp around my tent.
A mis hermanos los alejó de mí; y los conocidos míos se retiraron de mí como si fuesen extraños.
Hizo alejar de mí mis hermanos, y positivamente se extrañaron de mí mis conocidos.
He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.
“He has put my brothers far from me. My acquaintances are wholly estranged from me.
Los parientes me han abandonado, y los que me conocían se han olvidado de mí.
Mis parientes se detuvieron, y mis conocidos se olvidaron de mí.
My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.
My relatives have gone away. My familiar friends have forgotten me.
Los que moraban en mi casa, y mis propias criadas me han tratado como a extraño, y he parecido a sus ojos como un hombre nunca visto.
Los moradores de mi casa y mis criadas me tuvieron por extraño: forastero fuí yo en sus ojos.
They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.
Those who dwell in my house and my maids consider me a stranger. I am an alien in their sight.
He llamado a mi siervo, y no me ha respondido por más plegarias que le hacía con mi propia boca.
Llamé á mi siervo, y no respondió; de mi propia boca le suplicaba.
I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.
I call to my servant, and he gives me no answer. I beg him with my mouth.
Mi mujer ha tenido asco de mi hálito, y he tenido que presentar súplicas a los hijos de mis entrañas.
Mi aliento vino á ser extraño á mi mujer, aunque por los hijos de mis entrañas le rogaba.
My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children’s sake of mine own body.
My breath is offensive to my wife. I am loathsome to the children of my own mother.
Aun los tontos me despreciaban, y a espaldas mías murmuraban de mí.
Aun los muchachos me menospreciaron: en levantándome, hablaban contra mí.
Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.
Even young children despise me. If I arise, they speak against me.
Los que en otro tiempo eran mis consejeros, me abominaban; y el amigo a quien más amaba, ése me ha vuelto las espaldas.
Todos mis confidentes me aborrecieron; y los que yo amaba, se tornaron contra mí.
All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.
All my familiar friends abhor me. They whom I loved have turned against me.
Mis huesos, consumidas ya las carnes, están pegados a mi piel, y sólo me han quedado los labios en torno de mis dientes.
Mi cuero y mi carne se pegaron á mis huesos; y he escapado con la piel de mis dientes.
My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
My bones stick to my skin and to my flesh. I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.
Compadeceos de mí, al menos vosotros que sois mis amigos, compadeceos de mí; ya que la mano del Señor me ha herido.
Oh vosotros mis amigos, tened compasión de mí, tened compasión de mí; porque la mano de Dios me ha tocado.
Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.
“Have pity on me. Have pity on me, you my friends, for the hand of God has touched me.
¿Por qué me perseguís vosotros como si estuvieseis en lugar de Dios, y os cebáis en mis carnes?
¿Por qué me perseguís como Dios, y no os hartáis de mis carnes?
Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?
Why do you persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?
¡Oh! ¿Quién me diera que las palabras que voy a proferir se quedasen escritas? ¿Quién me diera que se imprimiesen en libro o tablilla,
¡Quién diese ahora que mis palabras fuesen escritas! ¡quién diese que se escribieran en un libro!
Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
“Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!
con punzón de hierro, y se esculpiesen en planchas de plomo, o con el cincel se grabasen en pedernal?
¡Que con cincel de hierro y con plomo fuesen en piedra esculpidas para siempre!
That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
That with an iron pen and lead they were engraved in the rock forever!
Porque yo sé que vive mi redentor, y que yo he de resucitar del polvo de la tierra en el último día,
Yo sé que mi Redentor vive, y al fin se levantará sobre el polvo:
For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth.
y de nuevo he de ser revestido de esta piel mía, y en esta mi carne veré a mi Dios;
Y después de deshecha esta mi piel, aun he de ver en mi carne á Dios;
And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
After my skin is destroyed, then I will see God in my flesh,
a quien he de ver yo mismo en persona y no por medio de otro, y a quien contemplarán los mismos ojos míos. Esta es la esperanza que en mi pecho tengo depositada.
Al cual yo tengo de ver por mí, y mis ojos lo verán, y no otro, aunque mis riñones se consuman dentro de mí.
Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
whom I, even I, will see on my side. My eyes will see, and not as a stranger. “My heart is consumed within me.
Pues, ¿por qué decís ahora vosotros: Persigámosle, y agarrémonos de algún dicho principal suyo para acusarle y calumniarle?
Mas debierais decir: ¿Por qué lo perseguimos? ya que la raíz del negocio en mí se halla.
But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?
If you say, ‘How we will persecute him!’ because the root of the matter is found in me,
Huid del filo de la espada de Dios; porque hay una espada vengadora de las injusticias y calumnias; y tened entendido que hay un juicio.
Temed vosotros delante de la espada; porque sobreviene el furor de la espada á causa de las injusticias, para que sepáis que hay un juicio.
Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.
