Job 1

Il y avait en la terre de Hus, un homme appelé Job ; et cet homme était intègre, irréprochable, juste, pieux, et il s'abstenait de toute mauvaise action.

HUBO un varón en tierra de Hus, llamado Job; y era este hombre perfecto y recto, y temeroso de Dios, y apartado del mal.

There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

Et il avait sept fils et trois filles.

Y naciéronle siete hijos y tres hijas.

And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.

Et ses troupeaux étaient sept mille moutons, trois mille chamelles, cinq cents paires de bœufs, cinq cents ânesses au pâturage, et il avait une multitude de serviteurs et de grands travaux sur la terre ; et cet homme avait la noblesse des fils de l'Orient.

Y su hacienda era siete mil ovejas, y tres mil camellos, y quinientas yuntas de bueyes, y quinientas asnas, y muchísimos criados: y era aquel varón grande más que todos los Orientales.

His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

Et ses fils, se réunissant tour à tour, faisaient chaque jour un festin, et ils accueillaient aussi leurs trois sœurs pour boire et manger avec eux.

E iban sus hijos y hacían banquetes en sus casas, cada uno en su día; y enviaban á llamar sus tres hermanas, para que comiesen y bebiesen con ellos.

And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

Et dès que leurs jours de repas étaient écoulés, Job, s'étant levé de grand matin, les convoquait ; et il les purifiait, et il immolait autant de victimes que le comportait leur nombre et de plus un bœuf pour le péché de leurs âmes. Car Job disait : Qui sait si les fils au fond du cœur, n'ont pas eu de mauvaises pensées contre Dieu ? Ainsi faisait donc Job toutes les fois.

Y acontecía que, habiendo pasado en turno los días del convite, Job enviaba y santificábalos, y levantábase de mañana y ofrecía holocaustos conforme al número de todos ellos. Porque decía Job: Quizá habrán pecado mis hijos, y habrán blasfemado á Dios en sus corazones. De esta manera hacía todos los días.

And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

Or, l'un de ces jours-là, les anges de Dieu s'en vinrent comparaître devant le Seigneur, et le diable vint avec eux.

Y un día vinieron los hijos de Dios á presentarse delante de Jehová, entre los cuales vino también Satán.

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

Now on the day when God’s sons came to present themselves before the LORD, Satan also came among them.

Et le Seigneur dit au diable : D'où viens-tu ? Et le diable répondit : J'arrive après avoir fait le tour de la terre et parcouru tout ce qui est sous le ciel.

Y dijo Jehová á Satán: ¿De dónde vienes? Y respondiendo Satán á Jehová, dijo: De rodear la tierra, y de andar por ella.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

The LORD said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, “From going back and forth in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.”

Et le Seigneur reprit : As-tu remarqué Job, mon serviteur ? as-tu reconnu qu'il n'a point son pareil sur la terre, que c'est un homme irréprochable, sincère, pieux, et qui s'abstient de toute mauvaise action ?

Y Jehová dijo á Satán: ¿No has considerado á mi siervo Job, que no hay otro como él en la tierra, varón perfecto y recto, temeroso de Dios, y apartado de mal?

And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

The LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant, Job? For there is no one like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil.”

Et le diable répondit et dit devant le Seigneur : Est-ce gratis que Job honore le Seigneur ?

Y respondiendo Satán á Jehová, dijo: ¿Teme Job á Dios de balde?

Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing?

N'avez-vous point fortifié sa maison, au-dedans comme au dehors, et, alentour tout ce qui lui appartient ? n'avez-vous béni ses œuvres et multiplié ses troupeaux sur la terre ?

¿No le has tú cercado á él, y á su casa, y á todo lo que tiene en derredor? Al trabajo de sus manos has dado bendición; por tanto su hacienda ha crecido sobre la tierra.

Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

Haven’t you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

Mais étendez votre main et qu'elle touche à ce qu'il possède, sinon il vous bénira en face.

Mas extiende ahora tu mano, y toca á todo lo que tiene, y verás si no te blasfema en tu rostro.

But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

But stretch out your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will renounce you to your face.”

Alors le Seigneur dit au diable : Tu vois tout ce qui est à lui, je te le livre, mais ne touche pas à sa personne. Et le diable sortit de devant le Seigneur.

Y dijo Jehová á Satán: He aquí, todo lo que tiene está en tu mano: solamente no pongas tu mano sobre él. Y salióse Satán de delante de Jehová.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

The LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power. Only on himself don’t stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

Or, peu de temps après ce jour-là, les fils de Job et ses filles buvaient du vin en la maison de l'aîné de leurs frères.

Y un día aconteció que sus hijos é hijas comían y bebían vino en casa de su hermano el primogénito,

And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house:

It fell on a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,

Et un messager entra chez Job et il lui dit : Tes attelages de bœufs étaient au labour et les ânesses paissaient tout auprès.

Y vino un mensajero á Job, que le dijo: Estando arando los bueyes, y las asnas paciendo cerca de ellos,

And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them:

that a messenger came to Job, and said, “The oxen were plowing, and the donkeys feeding beside them,

Et des hommes en armes sont venus et ils les ont enlevés, et ils ont tué tes serviteurs à coups de glaive ; j'ai seul échappé et j'accours t'en apporter la nouvelle.

Acometieron los Sabeos, y tomáronlos, é hirieron á los mozos á filo de espada: solamente escapé yo para traerte las nuevas.

And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

and the Sabeans attacked, and took them away. Yes, they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”

Comme celui-ci parlait encore survint un autre messager, et il dit à Job : Le feu du ciel est tombé et il a brûlé tes brebis, et il a dévoré pareillement les bergers ; j'ai seul échappé et j'accours t'en apporter la nouvelle.

Aun estaba éste hablando, y vino otro que dijo: Fuego de Dios cayó del cielo, que quemó las ovejas y los mozos, y los consumió: solamente escapé yo solo para traerte las nuevas.

While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The fire of God has fallen from the sky, and has burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”

Comme celui-ci parlait encore survint un autre messager, et il dit à Job : Des cavaliers nous ont attaqués sur trois points, et ils ont enveloppé tes chamelles, et ils les ont enlevées ; et ils ont tué tes serviteurs à coups de glaive ; j'ai seul échappé et j'accours t'en apporter la nouvelle.

Todavía estaba éste hablando, y vino otro que dijo: Los Caldeos hicieron tres escuadrones, y dieron sobre los camellos, y tomáronlos, é hirieron á los mozos á filo de espada; y solamente escapé yo solo para traerte las nuevas.

While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The Chaldeans made three bands, and swept down on the camels, and have taken them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you.”

Comme celui-ci parlait encore survint un autre messager, et il dit à Job : Tandis que tes fils et tes filles étaient à manger et à boire chez leur frère aîné,

Entre tanto que éste hablaba, vino otro que dijo: Tus hijos y tus hijas estaban comiendo y bebiendo vino en casa de su hermano el primogénito;

While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house:

While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, “Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,

Soudain un grand vent est venu du désert et il a saisi les quatre coins de la maison ; et elle s'est écroulée sur tes enfants ; et ils sont morts ; j'ai seul échappé et j'accours t'en apporter la nouvelle.

Y he aquí un gran viento que vino del lado del desierto, é hirió las cuatro esquinas de la casa, y cayó sobre los mozos, y murieron; y solamente escapé yo solo para traerte las nuevas.

And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

and behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young men, and they are dead. I alone have escaped to tell you.”

Or, Job s'étant levé déchira ses vêtements, et il se coupa toute la chevelure, et, s'est prosternant la face contre terre, il adora, et il dit :

Entonces Job se levantó, y rasgó su manto, y trasquiló su cabeza, y cayendo en tierra adoró;

Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,

Then Job arose, and tore his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down on the ground, and worshiped.

Nu je suis sorti des entrailles de ma mère, nu je partirai d'ici ; le Seigneur n'avait donné, le Seigneur m'a ôté, il est advenu comme il a plu au Seigneur ; béni soit le nom du Seigneur.

Y dijo: Desnudo salí del vientre de mi madre, y desnudo tornaré allá. Jehová dió, y Jehová quitó: sea el nombre de Jehová bendito.

And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

He said, “Naked I came out of my mother’s womb, and naked will I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the LORD’s name.”

Malgré tout ce qui lui est arrivé, Job ne pécha point contre le Seigneur ; et il n'accusa point Dieu d'avoir manqué de sagesse.

En todo esto no pecó Job, ni atribuyó á Dios despropósito alguno.

In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

In all this, Job didn’t sin, nor charge God with wrongdoing.
