1Da antwortete Zophar von Naema und sprach:
2Darauf muß ich antworten und kann nicht harren.
3Denn ich muß hören, wie man mich straft und tadelt; aber der Geist meines Verstandes soll für mich antworten.
4Weißt du nicht, daß es allezeit so gegangen ist, seitdem Menschen auf Erden gewesen sind:
5daß der Ruhm der Gottlosen steht nicht lange und die Freude des Heuchlers währt einen Augenblick?
6Wenngleich seine Höhe in den Himmel reicht und sein Haupt an die Wolken rührt,
7so wird er doch zuletzt umkommen wie Kot, daß die, welche ihn gesehen haben, werden sagen: Wo ist er?
8Wie ein Traum vergeht, so wird er auch nicht zu finden sein, und wie ein Gesicht in der Nacht verschwindet.
9Welch Auge ihn gesehen hat, wird ihn nicht mehr sehen; und seine Stätte wird ihn nicht mehr schauen.
10Seine Kinder werden betteln gehen, und seine Hände müssen seine Habe wieder hergeben.
11Seine Gebeine werden seine heimlichen Sünden wohl bezahlen, und sie werden sich mit ihm in die Erde legen.
12Wenn ihm die Bosheit in seinem Munde wohl schmeckt, daß er sie birgt unter seiner Zunge,
13daß er sie hegt und nicht losläßt und sie zurückhält in seinem Gaumen,
14so wird seine Speise inwendig im Leibe sich verwandeln in Otterngalle.
15Die Güter, die er verschlungen hat, muß er wieder ausspeien, und Gott wird sie aus seinem Bauch stoßen.
16Er wird der Ottern Gift saugen, und die Zunge der Schlange wird ihn töten.
17Er wird nicht sehen die Ströme noch die Wasserbäche, die mit Honig und Butter fließen.
18Er wird arbeiten, und des nicht genießen; und seine Güter werden andern, daß er deren nicht froh wird.
19Denn er hat unterdrückt und verlassen den Armen; er hat Häuser an sich gerissen, die er nicht erbaut hat.
20Denn sein Wanst konnte nicht voll werden; so wird er mit seinem köstlichen Gut nicht entrinnen.
21Nichts blieb übrig vor seinem Fressen; darum wird sein gutes Leben keinen Bestand haben.
22Wenn er gleich die Fülle und genug hat, wird ihm doch angst werden; aller Hand Mühsal wird über ihn kommen.
23Es wird ihm der Wanst einmal voll werden, wenn er wird den Grimm seines Zorns über ihn senden und über ihn wird regnen lassen seine Speise.
24Er wird fliehen vor dem eisernen Harnisch, und der eherne Bogen wird ihn verjagen.
25Ein bloßes Schwert wird durch ihn ausgehen; und des Schwertes Blitz, der ihm bitter sein wird, wird mit Schrecken über ihn fahren.
26Es ist keine Finsternis da, die ihn verdecken möchte. Es wird ihn ein Feuer verzehren, das nicht angeblasen ist; und wer übrig ist in seiner Hütte, dem wird's übel gehen.
27Der Himmel wird seine Missetat eröffnen, und die Erde wird sich gegen ihn setzen.
28Das Getreide in seinem Hause wird weggeführt werden, zerstreut am Tage seines Zorns.
29Das ist der Lohn eines gottlosen Menschen bei Gott und das Erbe, das ihm zugesprochen wird von Gott.

2Por cierto mis pensamientos me hacen responder, y por tanto me apresuro.
3La reprensión de mi censura he oído, y háceme responder el espíritu de mi inteligencia.
4¿No sabes esto que fué siempre, desde el tiempo que fué puesto el hombre sobre la tierra,
5Que la alegría de los impíos es breve, y el gozo del hipócrita por un momento?
6Si subiere su altivez hasta el cielo, y su cabeza tocare en las nubes,
7Con su estiércol perecerá para siempre: los que le hubieren visto, dirán: ¿Qué es de él?
8Como sueño volará, y no será hallado: y disiparáse como visión nocturna.
9El ojo que le habrá visto, nunca más le verá; ni su lugar le echará más de ver.
10Sus hijos pobres andarán rogando; y sus manos tornarán lo que él robó.
11Sus huesos están llenos de sus mocedades, y con él serán sepultados en el polvo.
12Si el mal se endulzó en su boca, si lo ocultaba debajo de su lengua;
13Si le parecía bien, y no lo dejaba, mas antes lo detenía entre su paladar;
14Su comida se mudará en sus entrañas, hiel de áspides será dentro de él.
15Devoró riquezas, mas vomitarálas; de su vientre las sacará Dios.
16Veneno de áspides chupará; matarálo lengua de víbora.
17No verá los arroyos, los ríos, los torrentes de miel y de manteca.
18Restituirá el trabajo conforme á la hacienda que tomó; y no tragará, ni gozará.
19Por cuanto quebrantó y desamparó á los pobres, robó casas, y no las edificó;
20Por tanto, no sentirá él sosiego en su vientre, ni salvará nada de lo que codiciaba.
21No quedó nada que no comiese: por tanto su bien no será durable.
22Cuando fuere lleno su bastimento, tendrá angustia: las manos todas de los malvados vendrán sobre él.
23Cuando se pusiere á henchir su vientre, Dios enviará sobre él el furor de su ira, y harála llover sobre él y sobre su comida.
24Huirá de las armas de hierro, y el arco de acero le atravesará.
25Desenvainará y sacará saeta de su aljaba, y relumbrante pasará por su hiel: sobre él vendrán terrores.
26Todas tinieblas están guardadas para sus secretos: fuego no soplado lo devorará; su sucesor será quebrantado en su tienda.
27Los cielos descubrirán su iniquidad, y la tierra se levantará contra él.
28Los renuevos de su casa serán trasportados; serán derramados en el día de su furor.
29Esta es la parte que Dios apareja al hombre impío, y la heredad que Dios le señala por su palabra.
King James Version
1Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
2Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for this I make haste.
3I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.
4Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth,
5That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?
6Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;
7Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?
8He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.
9The eye also which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.
10His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.
11His bones are full of the sin of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.
12Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue;
13Though he spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth:
14Yet his meat in his bowels is turned, it is the gall of asps within him.
15He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.
16He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper’s tongue shall slay him.
17He shall not see the rivers, the floods, the brooks of honey and butter.
18That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall not rejoice therein.
19Because he hath oppressed and hath forsaken the poor; because he hath violently taken away an house which he builded not;
20Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired.
21There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods.
22In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him.
23When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain it upon him while he is eating.
24He shall flee from the iron weapon, and the bow of steel shall strike him through.
25It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yea, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors are upon him.
26All darkness shall be hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.
27The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.
28The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
29This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.

1Then Zophar the Naamathite answered,
2“Therefore my thoughts answer me, even by reason of my haste that is in me.
3I have heard the reproof which puts me to shame. The spirit of my understanding answers me.
4Don’t you know this from old time, since man was placed on earth,
5that the triumphing of the wicked is short, the joy of the godless but for a moment?
6Though his height mount up to the heavens, and his head reach to the clouds,
7yet he will perish forever like his own dung. Those who have seen him will say, ‘Where is he?’
8He will fly away as a dream, and will not be found. Yes, he will be chased away like a vision of the night.
9The eye which saw him will see him no more, neither will his place see him any more.
10His children will seek the favor of the poor. His hands will give back his wealth.
11His bones are full of his youth, but youth will lie down with him in the dust.
12“Though wickedness is sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue,

14yet his food in his bowels is turned. It is cobra venom within him.
15He has swallowed down riches, and he will vomit them up again. God will cast them out of his belly.
16He will suck cobra venom. The viper’s tongue will kill him.
17He will not look at the rivers, the flowing streams of honey and butter.
18He will restore that for which he labored, and will not swallow it down. He will not rejoice according to the substance that he has gotten.
19For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor. He has violently taken away a house, and he will not build it up.
20“Because he knew no quietness within him, he will not save anything of that in which he delights.
21There was nothing left that he didn’t devour, therefore his prosperity will not endure.
22In the fullness of his sufficiency, distress will overtake him. The hand of everyone who is in misery will come on him.
23When he is about to fill his belly, God will cast the fierceness of his wrath on him. It will rain on him while he is eating.
24He will flee from the iron weapon. The bronze arrow will strike him through.
25He draws it out, and it comes out of his body. Yes, the glittering point comes out of his liver. Terrors are on him.
26All darkness is laid up for his treasures. An unfanned fire will devour him. It will consume that which is left in his tent.
27The heavens will reveal his iniquity. The earth will rise up against him.
28The increase of his house will depart. They will rush away in the day of his wrath.
29This is the portion of a wicked man from God, the heritage appointed to him by God.”
