Tomó la palabra Sofar de Naamat, y dijo:
Y RESPONDIÓ Sophar Naamathita, y dijo:
Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,

Por eso me vienen unos tras otros varios pensamientos, y mi ánimo es arrebatado a diversas reflexiones.
Por cierto mis pensamientos me hacen responder, y por tanto me apresuro.
Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for this I make haste.
“Therefore my thoughts answer me, even by reason of my haste that is in me.
Escucharé por tanto la doctrina con que me arguyes; mas el espíritu que tengo de inteligencia, responderá por mí.
La reprensión de mi censura he oído, y háceme responder el espíritu de mi inteligencia.
I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.
I have heard the reproof which puts me to shame. The spirit of my understanding answers me.
Una cosa sé, y es que, desde el principio , desde que el hombre fue puesto sobre la tierra,
¿No sabes esto que fué siempre, desde el tiempo que fué puesto el hombre sobre la tierra,
Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth,
Don’t you know this from old time, since man was placed on earth,
la gloria de los impíos dura poco, y el gozo de los hipócritas no más que un momento.
Que la alegría de los impíos es breve, y el gozo del hipócrita por un momento?
That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?
that the triumphing of the wicked is short, the joy of the godless but for a moment?
Aunque se remonte hasta el cielo su altivez, y su cabeza toque con las nubes,
Si subiere su altivez hasta el cielo, y su cabeza tocare en las nubes,
Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;
Though his height mount up to the heavens, and his head reach to the clouds,
al fin será arrojado fuera como basura; y los que le habían visto, dirán: ¿Qué se hizo de él?
Con su estiércol perecerá para siempre: los que le hubieren visto, dirán: ¿Qué es de él?
Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?
yet he will perish forever like his own dung. Those who have seen him will say, ‘Where is he?’
Cual sueño que volando se desvanece, no aparecerá; pasará como una visión nocturna.
Como sueño volará, y no será hallado: y disiparáse como visión nocturna.
He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.
He will fly away as a dream, and will not be found. Yes, he will be chased away like a vision of the night.
Los ojos que lo vieron, no le verán más; ni el lugar donde moró lo reconocerá.
El ojo que le habrá visto, nunca más le verá; ni su lugar le echará más de ver.
The eye also which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.

Sus hijos andarán consumidos de miseria, y sus mismas manos o acciones inicuas le pagarán con el dolor merecido.
Sus hijos pobres andarán rogando; y sus manos tornarán lo que él robó.
His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.
His children will seek the favor of the poor. His hands will give back his wealth.
Sus huesos estarán impregnados de los vicios de su mocedad; los cuales yacerán con él en el polvo del sepulcro.
Sus huesos están llenos de sus mocedades, y con él serán sepultados en el polvo.
His bones are full of the sin of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.

Pues cuando la maldad se haya hecho ya sabrosa a su paladar, la meterá debajo de su lengua,
Si el mal se endulzó en su boca, si lo ocultaba debajo de su lengua;
Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue;
“Though wickedness is sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue,
se saboreará en ella, y no la tragará, sino que la detendrá en su paladar.
Si le parecía bien, y no lo dejaba, mas antes lo detenía entre su paladar;
Though he spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth:
though he spare it, and will not let it go, but keep it still within his mouth,
Mas este pan de iniquidad se convertirá dentro de su vientre en hiel venenosa de áspides.
Su comida se mudará en sus entrañas, hiel de áspides será dentro de él.
Yet his meat in his bowels is turned, it is the gall of asps within him.
yet his food in his bowels is turned. It is cobra venom within him.
Vomitará las riquezas que hubo devorado, y se las arrancará Dios de su vientre.
Devoró riquezas, mas vomitarálas; de su vientre las sacará Dios.
He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.
He has swallowed down riches, and he will vomit them up again. God will cast them out of his belly.
Chupará la cabeza o ponzoña de los áspides; y le quitará la vida una lengua de víbora.
Veneno de áspides chupará; matarálo lengua de víbora.
He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper’s tongue shall slay him.
He will suck cobra venom. The viper’s tongue will kill him.
No verá, no, las corrientes de delicias, los ríos y torrentes de miel y de manteca.
No verá los arroyos, los ríos, los torrentes de miel y de manteca.
He shall not see the rivers, the floods, the brooks of honey and butter.
He will not look at the rivers, the flowing streams of honey and butter.
Pagará la pena de todo el mal que hizo, mas no por eso será consumido; a proporción de la cantidad de sus delitos serán sus tormentos.
Restituirá el trabajo conforme á la hacienda que tomó; y no tragará, ni gozará.
That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall not rejoice therein.
He will restore that for which he labored, and will not swallow it down. He will not rejoice according to the substance that he has gotten.
Por cuanto oprimió y desnudó a los pobres, y usurpó cosas que no había edificado.
Por cuanto quebrantó y desamparó á los pobres, robó casas, y no las edificó;
Because he hath oppressed and hath forsaken the poor; because he hath violently taken away an house which he builded not;
For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor. He has violently taken away a house, and he will not build it up.
Su apetito fue insaciable; y cuando llegare a tener cuanto codiciaba, no podrá gozar de ello.
Por tanto, no sentirá él sosiego en su vientre, ni salvará nada de lo que codiciaba.
Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired.
“Because he knew no quietness within him, he will not save anything of that in which he delights.
Nada dejó de su comida para los pobres, y por lo mismo nada de sus bienes será permanente.
No quedó nada que no comiese: por tanto su bien no será durable.
There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods.
There was nothing left that he didn’t devour, therefore his prosperity will not endure.
Luego que se hubiere hartado, sentirá congojas, se abrasará, y se verá acometido de toda suerte de dolores.
Cuando fuere lleno su bastimento, tendrá angustia: las manos todas de los malvados vendrán sobre él.
In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him.
In the fullness of his sufficiency, distress will overtake him. The hand of everyone who is in misery will come on him.
Acabe de llenar su vientre de viandas, que Dios descargará su furioso y terrible enojo, y lloverá sobre él sus venganzas.
Cuando se pusiere á henchir su vientre, Dios enviará sobre él el furor de su ira, y harála llover sobre él y sobre su comida.
When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain it upon him while he is eating.
When he is about to fill his belly, God will cast the fierceness of his wrath on him. It will rain on him while he is eating.
Huirá por un lado de las armas de hierro, y caerá por otro en las saetas del arco de bronce.
Huirá de las armas de hierro, y el arco de acero le atravesará.
He shall flee from the iron weapon, and the bow of steel shall strike him through.
He will flee from the iron weapon. The bronze arrow will strike him through.
La espada empuñada y desenvainada por Dios será vibrada contra él para que sienta las amarguras de la muerte; horribles espectros irán y vendrán contra él continuamente.
Desenvainará y sacará saeta de su aljaba, y relumbrante pasará por su hiel: sobre él vendrán terrores.
It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yea, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors are upon him.
He draws it out, and it comes out of his body. Yes, the glittering point comes out of his liver. Terrors are on him.
Todo es tinieblas allá donde él se esconde; un fuego que no alumbra le abrasará; si quedare todavía en su casa, vivirá lleno de miserias.
Todas tinieblas están guardadas para sus secretos: fuego no soplado lo devorará; su sucesor será quebrantado en su tienda.
All darkness shall be hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.
All darkness is laid up for his treasures. An unfanned fire will devour him. It will consume that which is left in his tent.
Los cielos descubrirán sus injusticias, y la tierra se levantará contra él.
Los cielos descubrirán su iniquidad, y la tierra se levantará contra él.
The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.
The heavens will reveal his iniquity. The earth will rise up against him.
Quedarán abandonados los renuevos o retoños de su familia; serán arrancados de cuajo en el día de la ira de Dios.
Los renuevos de su casa serán trasportados; serán derramados en el día de su furor.
The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
The increase of his house will depart. They will rush away in the day of his wrath.
Tal es la suerte que al impío tiene Dios destinada, y tal la recompensa que recibirá por sus obras.
Esta es la parte que Dios apareja al hombre impío, y la heredad que Dios le señala por su palabra.
This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.
This is the portion of a wicked man from God, the heritage appointed to him by God.”
