Hiob antwortete und sprach:

Y RESPONDIÓ Job, y dijo:

But Job answered and said,

Hört doch meiner Rede zu und laßt mir das anstatt eurer Tröstungen sein!

Oid atentamente mi palabra, y sea esto vuestros consuelos.

Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.

“Listen diligently to my speech. Let this be your consolation.

Vertragt mich, daß ich auch rede, und spottet darnach mein!

Soportadme, y yo hablaré; y después que hubiere hablado, escarneced.

Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.

Allow me, and I also will speak. After I have spoken, mock on.

Handle ich denn mit einem Menschen? oder warum sollte ich ungeduldig sein?

¿Hablo yo á algún hombre? y ¿por qué no se ha de angustiar mi espíritu?

As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?

As for me, is my complaint to man? Why shouldn’t I be impatient?

Kehrt euch her zu mir; ihr werdet erstarren und die Hand auf den Mund legen müssen.

Miradme, y espantaos, y poned la mano sobre la boca.

Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.

Wenn ich daran denke, so erschrecke ich, und Zittern kommt mein Fleisch an.

Aun yo mismo, cuando me acuerdo, me asombro, y toma temblor mi carne.

Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.

When I remember, I am troubled. Horror takes hold of my flesh.

Warum leben denn die Gottlosen, werden alt und nehmen zu an Gütern?

¿Por qué viven los impíos, y se envejecen, y aun crecen en riquezas?

Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?

“Why do the wicked live, become old, yes, and grow mighty in power?

Ihr Same ist sicher um sie her, und ihre Nachkömmlinge sind bei ihnen.

Su simiente con ellos, compuesta delante de ellos; y sus renuevos delante de sus ojos.

Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.

Their child is established with them in their sight, their offspring before their eyes.

Ihr Haus hat Frieden vor der Furcht, und Gottes Rute ist nicht über ihnen.

Sus casas seguras de temor, ni hay azote de Dios sobre ellos.

Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.

Seinen Stier läßt man zu, und es mißrät ihm nicht; seine Kuh kalbt und ist nicht unfruchtbar.

Sus vacas conciben, no abortan; paren sus vacas, y no malogran su cría.

Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.

Their bulls breed without fail. Their cows calve, and don’t miscarry.

Ihre jungen Kinder lassen sie ausgehen wie eine Herde, und ihre Knaben hüpfen.

Salen sus chiquitos como manada, y sus hijos andan saltando.

They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.

Sie jauchzen mit Pauken und Harfen und sind fröhlich mit Flöten.

Al son de tamboril y de cítara saltan, y se huelgan al son del órgano.

They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.

They sing to the tambourine and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the pipe.

Sie werden alt bei guten Tagen und erschrecken kaum einen Augenblick vor dem Tode,

Gastan sus días en bien, y en un momento descienden á la sepultura.

They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.

They spend their days in prosperity. In an instant they go down to Sheol.

die doch sagen zu Gott: “Hebe dich von uns, wir wollen von deinen Wegen nicht wissen!

Dicen pues á Dios: Apártate de nosotros, que no queremos el conocimiento de tus caminos.

Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.

They tell God, ‘Depart from us, for we don’t want to know about your ways.

Wer ist der Allmächtige, daß wir ihm dienen sollten? oder was sind wir gebessert, so wir ihn anrufen?”

¿Quién es el Todopoderoso, para que le sirvamos? ¿y de qué nos aprovechará que oremos á él?

What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?

“Aber siehe, ihr Glück steht nicht in ihren Händen; darum soll der Gottlosen Sinn ferne von mir sein.”

He aquí que su bien no está en manos de ellos: el consejo de los impíos lejos esté de mí.

Lo, their good is not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

Behold, their prosperity is not in their hand. The counsel of the wicked is far from me.

Wie oft geschieht's denn, daß die Leuchte der Gottlosen verlischt und ihr Unglück über sie kommt? daß er Herzeleid über sie austeilt in seinem Zorn?

¡Oh cuántas veces la lámpara de los impíos es apagada, y viene sobre ellos su quebranto, y Dios en su ira les reparte dolores!

How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger.

“How often is it that the lamp of the wicked is put out, that their calamity comes on them, that God distributes sorrows in his anger?

daß sie werden wie Stoppeln vor dem Winde und wie Spreu, die der Sturmwind wegführt?

Serán como la paja delante del viento, y como el tamo que arrebata el torbellino.

They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away.

How often is it that they are as stubble before the wind, as chaff that the storm carries away?

“Gott spart desselben Unglück auf seine Kinder”. Er vergelte es ihm selbst, daß er's innewerde.

Dios guardará para sus hijos su violencia; y le dará su pago, para que conozca.

God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know it.

You say, ‘God lays up his iniquity for his children.’ Let him recompense it to himself, that he may know it.

Seine Augen mögen sein Verderben sehen, und vom Grimm des Allmächtigen möge er trinken.

Verán sus ojos su quebranto, y beberá de la ira del Todopoderoso.

His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

Let his own eyes see his destruction. Let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

Denn was ist ihm gelegen an seinem Hause nach ihm, wenn die Zahl seiner Monden ihm zugeteilt ist?

Porque ¿qué deleite tendrá él de su casa después de sí, siendo cortado el número de sus meses?

For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst?

For what does he care for his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off?

Wer will Gott lehren, der auch die Hohen richtet?

¿Enseñará alguien á Dios sabiduría, juzgando él á los que están elevados?

Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.

“Shall any teach God knowledge, since he judges those who are high?

Dieser stirbt frisch und gesund in allem Reichtum und voller Genüge,

Este morirá en el vigor de su hermosura, todo quieto y pacífico.

One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.

sein Melkfaß ist voll Milch, und seine Gebeine werden gemästet mit Mark;

Sus colodras están llenas de leche, y sus huesos serán regados de tuétano.

His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.

His pails are full of milk. The marrow of his bones is moistened.

jener aber stirbt mit betrübter Seele und hat nie mit Freuden gegessen;

Y estotro morirá en amargura de ánimo, y no habiendo comido jamás con gusto.

And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.

Another dies in bitterness of soul, and never tastes of good.

und liegen gleich miteinander in der Erde, und Würmer decken sie zu.

Igualmente yacerán ellos en el polvo, y gusanos los cubrirán.

They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.

They lie down alike in the dust. The worm covers them.

Siehe, ich kenne eure Gedanken wohl und euer frevles Vornehmen gegen mich.

He aquí, yo conozco vuestros pensamientos, y las imaginaciones que contra mí forjáis.

Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me.

“Behold, I know your thoughts, the plans with which you would wrong me.

Denn ihr sprecht: “Wo ist das Haus des Fürsten? und wo ist die Hütte, da die Gottlosen wohnten?”

Porque decís: ¿Qué es de la casa del príncipe, y qué de la tienda de las moradas de los impíos?

For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked?

For you say, ‘Where is the house of the prince? Where is the tent in which the wicked lived?’

Habt ihr denn die Wanderer nicht befragt und nicht gemerkt ihre Zeugnisse?

¿No habéis preguntado á los que pasan por los caminos, por cuyas señas no negaréis,

Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens,

Haven’t you asked wayfaring men? Don’t you know their evidences,

Denn der Böse wird erhalten am Tage des Verderbens, und am Tage des Grimms bleibt er.

Que el malo es reservado para el día de la destrucción? Presentados serán en el día de las iras.

That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.

that the evil man is reserved to the day of calamity, that they are led out to the day of wrath?

Wer will ihm ins Angesicht sagen, was er verdient? wer will ihm vergelten, was er tut?

¿Quién le denunciará en su cara su camino? Y de lo que él hizo, ¿quién le dará el pago?

Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?

Und er wird zu Grabe geleitet und hält Wache auf seinem Hügel.

Porque llevado será él á los sepulcros, y en el montón permanecerá.

Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.

Yet he will be borne to the grave. Men will keep watch over the tomb.

Süß sind ihm die Schollen des Tales, und alle Menschen ziehen ihm nach; und derer, die ihm vorangegangen sind, ist keine Zahl.

Los terrones del valle le serán dulces; y tras de él será llevado todo hombre, y antes de él han ido innumerables.

The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him.

Wie tröstet ihr mich so vergeblich, und eure Antworten finden sich unrecht!

¿Cómo pues me consoláis en vano, viniendo á parar vuestras respuestas en falacia?

How then comfort ye me in vain, seeing in your answers there remaineth falsehood?

So how can you comfort me with nonsense, because in your answers there remains only falsehood?”
