“Ouçam o que eu digo! Se ao menos vocês me ouvissem, isso já será um consolo para o meu coração.
Oid atentamente mi palabra, y sea esto vuestros consuelos.
Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.
“Listen diligently to my speech. Let this be your consolation.
Tenham um pouco mais de paciência comigo, e depois que eu falar vocês podem zombar de mim.
Soportadme, y yo hablaré; y después que hubiere hablado, escarneced.
Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.
Allow me, and I also will speak. After I have spoken, mock on.
“Vocês pensam que estou me queixando de homens? Ainda que esse fosse o caso, por que não se angustiaria o meu espírito?
¿Hablo yo á algún hombre? y ¿por qué no se ha de angustiar mi espíritu?
As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?
As for me, is my complaint to man? Why shouldn’t I be impatient?
Olhem para mim e se assustarão, tapem a boca com sua mão.
Miradme, y espantaos, y poned la mano sobre la boca.
Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.
Look at me, and be astonished. Lay your hand on your mouth.
Quando eu paro para pensar, fico perturbado. O meu corpo se arrepia todo.
Aun yo mismo, cuando me acuerdo, me asombro, y toma temblor mi carne.
Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.
When I remember, I am troubled. Horror takes hold of my flesh.
“Por que os perversos continuam vivos? Por que eles têm uma velhice cheia de riquezas e poder?
¿Por qué viven los impíos, y se envejecen, y aun crecen en riquezas?
Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?
“Why do the wicked live, become old, yes, and grow mighty in power?
Eles veem seus filhos formarem família e os seus descendentes diante dos seus olhos.
Su simiente con ellos, compuesta delante de ellos; y sus renuevos delante de sus ojos.
Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.
Their child is established with them in their sight, their offspring before their eyes.
A família do perverso vive em paz e livre de medo; Deus não se importa em lhes mandar o castigo merecido.
Sus casas seguras de temor, ni hay azote de Dios sobre ellos.
Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.

O perverso tem touros, eles não deixam de procriar; suas vacas dão muitas crias e não abortam.

Their bulls breed without fail. Their cows calve, and don’t miscarry.
Eles têm muitos filhos, que vivem felizes como ovelhas num pasto.
Salen sus chiquitos como manada, y sus hijos andan saltando.
They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.

Levantam a voz ao som do tamborim e da harpa; alegram-se ao som da flauta.
Al son de tamboril y de cítara saltan, y se huelgan al son del órgano.
They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.
They sing to the tambourine and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the pipe.
Eles não passam qualquer dificuldade, sempre têm tudo que desejam e morrem tranquilamente.
Gastan sus días en bien, y en un momento descienden á la sepultura.
They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.
They spend their days in prosperity. In an instant they go down to Sheol.
Todavia, dizem a Deus: ‘Deixa-nos em paz; não precisamos de você.
Dicen pues á Dios: Apártate de nosotros, que no queremos el conocimiento de tus caminos.
Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.
They tell God, ‘Depart from us, for we don’t want to know about your ways.
Quem é o Todo-poderoso, para que o adoremos? Para que fazer orações a ele?’
¿Quién es el Todopoderoso, para que le sirvamos? ¿y de qué nos aprovechará que oremos á él?
What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?

E vocês sabem muito bem que é Deus quem dá aos perversos todas as riquezas que eles possuem. Por isso fico longe do conselho dos ímpios.
He aquí que su bien no está en manos de ellos: el consejo de los impíos lejos esté de mí.
Lo, their good is not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
Behold, their prosperity is not in their hand. The counsel of the wicked is far from me.
“Quantas vezes se apagou a luz dos perversos? Quantas vezes eles caíram na desgraça, o destino que Deus reparte em sua ira?
¡Oh cuántas veces la lámpara de los impíos es apagada, y viene sobre ellos su quebranto, y Dios en su ira les reparte dolores!
How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger.
“How often is it that the lamp of the wicked is put out, that their calamity comes on them, that God distributes sorrows in his anger?
Por acaso eles se tornam como uma palha carregada pelo vento, como uma folha levada pela tempestade?
Serán como la paja delante del viento, y como el tamo que arrebata el torbellino.
They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away.
How often is it that they are as stubble before the wind, as chaff that the storm carries away?
“Mas vocês dirão: ‘Ao menos Deus manda o castigo contra os filhos do perverso!’ Deus devia mesmo é castigar o próprio perverso, para que ele sinta as consequências dos seus pecados.
Dios guardará para sus hijos su violencia; y le dará su pago, para que conozca.
God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know it.
You say, ‘God lays up his iniquity for his children.’ Let him recompense it to himself, that he may know it.
O perverso deveria ver com seus próprios olhos a sua destruição completa. Ele mesmo deveria beber o vinho amargo da ira de Deus!
Verán sus ojos su quebranto, y beberá de la ira del Todopoderoso.
His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.
Let his own eyes see his destruction. Let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.
Depois de morto, não vai fazer a menor diferença para ele se sua família está sofrendo ou não.
Porque ¿qué deleite tendrá él de su casa después de sí, siendo cortado el número de sus meses?
For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst?
For what does he care for his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off?
“No entanto, quem sou eu para dar lições ao Todo-poderoso, que julga até os seres celestiais?
¿Enseñará alguien á Dios sabiduría, juzgando él á los que están elevados?
Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.
“Shall any teach God knowledge, since he judges those who are high?
O homem rico morre em pleno vigor, feliz e despreocupado,
Este morirá en el vigor de su hermosura, todo quieto y pacífico.
One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.
One dies in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.
bem alimentado e com boa saúde.
Sus colodras están llenas de leche, y sus huesos serán regados de tuétano.
His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.
His pails are full of milk. The marrow of his bones is moistened.
Já outro morre tendo o coração amargurado, sem nunca ter experimentado as alegrias da vida.
Y estotro morirá en amargura de ánimo, y no habiendo comido jamás con gusto.
And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.
Another dies in bitterness of soul, and never tastes of good.
No entanto, ambos são enterrados e cobertos com a mesma terra, e depois comidos pelos mesmos vermes.
Igualmente yacerán ellos en el polvo, y gusanos los cubrirán.
They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.

“Eu sei bem o que vocês estão pensando e o mau juízo que fazem a meu respeito.
He aquí, yo conozco vuestros pensamientos, y las imaginaciones que contra mí forjáis.
Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me.
“Behold, I know your thoughts, the plans with which you would wrong me.
Vocês estão pensando: ‘Onde está a casa do grande homem? Onde está a tenda dos ímpios?’
Porque decís: ¿Qué es de la casa del príncipe, y qué de la tienda de las moradas de los impíos?
For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked?
For you say, ‘Where is the house of the prince? Where is the tent in which the wicked lived?’
Experimentem perguntar a alguém que viajou e conhece o mundo! Prestem atenção ao que eles contam.
¿No habéis preguntado á los que pasan por los caminos, por cuyas señas no negaréis,
Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens,
Haven’t you asked wayfaring men? Don’t you know their evidences,
Sem dúvida, eles dirão que os perversos sempre escapam do sofrimento e do castigo, e são socorridos no dia da ira.
Que el malo es reservado para el día de la destrucción? Presentados serán en el día de las iras.
That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.
that the evil man is reserved to the day of calamity, that they are led out to the day of wrath?
Nunca aparece alguém para mostrar abertamente ao perverso os crimes que ele cometeu, nem para dar a ele o castigo mais do que merecido.
¿Quién le denunciará en su cara su camino? Y de lo que él hizo, ¿quién le dará el pago?
Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?
Who will declare his way to his face? Who will repay him what he has done?
O resultado é que ele acaba morrendo como herói, como um benfeitor da humanidade, e todos desejam carregar o seu caixão e ficar um pouco ao lado do túmulo.
Porque llevado será él á los sepulcros, y en el montón permanecerá.
Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.
Yet he will be borne to the grave. Men will keep watch over the tomb.
Uma grande multidão acompanha o enterro do perverso e presta homenagens quando a terra cai mansamente sobre o seu corpo.
Los terrones del valle le serán dulces; y tras de él será llevado todo hombre, y antes de él han ido innumerables.
The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him.
The clods of the valley will be sweet to him. All men will draw after him, as there were innumerable before him.
“Como, pois, vocês pensam consolar-me, dizendo que meu sofrimento é merecido por causa do meu pecado? A própria base do seu raciocínio está errada e é pura falsidade!”
¿Cómo pues me consoláis en vano, viniendo á parar vuestras respuestas en falacia?
How then comfort ye me in vain, seeing in your answers there remaineth falsehood?
So how can you comfort me with nonsense, because in your answers there remains only falsehood?”
