“Você pensa que alguém pode ser útil a Deus com sua sabedoria? Por mais sábio que você possa ser, só será capaz de ajudar a si mesmo.
¿Traerá el hombre provecho á Dios, porque el sabio sea provechoso á sí mismo?
Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?
“Can a man be profitable to God? Surely he who is wise is profitable to himself.
Que prazer você daria ao Todo-poderoso se você fosse um homem justo? Que lucro ele teria se os seus caminhos fossem perfeitos?
¿Tiene su contentamiento el Omnipotente en que tú seas justificado, ó provecho de que tú hagas perfectos tus caminos?
Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect?
Is it any pleasure to the Almighty that you are righteous? Or does it benefit him that you make your ways perfect?
“Ou será que você pensa que ele lhe dá esse castigo justamente porque você o respeita e lhe obedece?
¿Castigaráte acaso, ó vendrá contigo á juicio porque te teme?
Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment?
Is it for your piety that he reproves you, that he enters with you into judgment?
De forma nenhuma! Você está sendo castigado porque é um pecador rebelde! Seus pecados são muitos e muito grandes!
Por cierto tu malicia es grande, y tus maldades no tienen fin.
Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite?
Isn’t your wickedness great? Neither is there any end to your iniquities.
“Por certo você exigiu que seus amigos deixassem até as roupas como garantia antes de lhes emprestar um pouco de dinheiro, a gente pobre que quase já não tem com que se vestir!
Porque sacaste prenda á tus hermanos sin causa, é hiciste desnudar las ropas de los desnudos.
For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.
For you have taken pledges from your brother for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing.
Você negou um pouco de água a um viajante cansado! Ou quem sabe você não quis dar um pedaço de pão a uma pessoa faminta?
No diste de beber agua al cansado, y detuviste el pan al hambriento.
Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.

Aos fortes pertencia a terra, e só o homem favorecido habita nela.

É por isso que você está cercado de armadilhas, e o perigo repentino apavora você.

Por isso seu caminho é escuro e as águas o cobrem.
O tinieblas, porque no veas; y abundancia de agua te cubre.
Or darkness, that thou canst not see; and abundance of waters cover thee.

Deus vive lá nas alturas dos céus e de lá ele observa as estrelas, embora elas estejam bem distantes.
¿No está Dios en la altura de los cielos? Mira lo encumbrado de las estrellas, cuán elevadas están.
Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!
“Isn’t God in the heights of heaven? See the height of the stars, how high they are!
Sim, eu sei o que você pensa: ‘É por isso que Deus me castigou assim! Ele está tão longe, encoberto por grossas nuvens, que não pode julgar minha vida corretamente.
¿Y dirás tú: Qué sabe Dios? ¿cómo juzgará por medio de la oscuridad?
And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud?
You say, ‘What does God know? Can he judge through the thick darkness?
Ele não é capaz de ver o que acontece comigo porque está longe demais, coberto por nuvens espessas, percorrendo o céu afora’.
Las nubes son su escondedero, y no ve; y por el circuito del cielo se pasea.
Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.

“Você acha que seria melhor fazer o que os perversos fazem? Eu lhe mostrarei a vida dos perversos e o seu triste fim.
¿Quieres tú guardar la senda antigua, que pisaron los hombres perversos?
Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?
Will you keep the old way, which wicked men have trodden,
Os perversos sempre morrem antes da hora; seus alicerces foram arrastados por uma inundação.
Los cuales fueron cortados antes de tiempo, cuyo fundamento fué como un río derramado:
Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood:
who were snatched away before their time, whose foundation was poured out as a stream,
Isso porque disseram a Deus: ‘Não se intrometa em nossa vida! O que o Todo-poderoso poderá fazer por nós? Não precisamos da ajuda dele!’
Que decían á Dios: Apártate de nosotros. ¿Y qué les había hecho el Omnipotente?
Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them?
who said to God, ‘Depart from us!’ and, ‘What can the Almighty do for us?’
Contudo, eles se esqueceram de que Deus encheu seus cofres de riquezas; por isso fico longe dos conselhos dos ímpios.
Habíales él henchido sus casas de bienes. Sea empero el consejo de ellos lejos de mí.
Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

“Os justos veem o castigo dos perversos e se alegram; os inocentes zombam deles, dizendo:
Verán los justos y se gozarán; y el inocente los escarnecerá, diciendo:
The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.

‘Vejam, nossos inimigos foram destruídos! Todo o poder deles foi destruído pelo fogo!’
Fué cortada nuestra sustancia, habiendo consumido el fuego el resto de ellos.
Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth.
saying, ‘Surely those who rose up against us are cut off. The fire has consumed their remnant.’
“Pare de discutir com Deus! Faça as pazes com ele, e a tranquilidade e a alegria voltarão outra vez.
Amístate ahora con él, y tendrás paz; y por ello te vendrá bien.
Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.
“Acquaint yourself with him now, and be at peace. By it, good will come to you.
Aprenda a instrução que vem da boca dele e ponha em seu coração as palavras dele.
Toma ahora la ley de su boca, y pon sus palabras en tu corazón.
Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.
Please receive instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in your heart.
Se você se arrepender e voltar para o Todo-poderoso, ele devolverá tudo que você perdeu. Se afastar da sua tenda a injustiça,
Si te tornares al Omnipotente, serás edificado; alejarás de tu tienda la aflicción;
If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.
If you return to the Almighty, you will be built up, if you put away unrighteousness far from your tents.
se o ouro não tiver mais valor para você, se for como o pó ou as pedrinhas do ribeirão,
Y tendrás más oro que tierra, y como piedras de arroyos oro de Ophir;
Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.
Lay your treasure in the dust, the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks.
então o Todo-poderoso será o seu ouro, e a sua prata seleta,
Y el Todopoderoso será tu defensa, y tendrás plata á montones.
Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.
The Almighty will be your treasure, and precious silver to you.
e você achará prazer no Todo-poderoso e erguerá o rosto para Deus.
Porque entonces te deleitarás en el Omnipotente, y alzarás á Dios tu rostro.
For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.
For then you will delight yourself in the Almighty, and will lift up your face to God.
Suas orações serão respondidas, e você cumprirá com alegria as promessas que fez a ele.
Orarás á él, y él te oirá; y tú pagarás tus votos.
Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.
You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you. You will pay your vows.
Todos os seus planos darão certo e os seus caminhos serão cheios de luz.
Determinarás asimismo una cosa, y serte ha firme; y sobre tus caminos resplandecerá luz.
Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
You will also decree a thing, and it will be established to you. Light will shine on your ways.
Quando os seus caminhos tiverem de passar por um vale, você dirá, ‘Para cima!’, e transformará o vale em caminho plano, porque ele salva o homem abatido.
Cuando fueren abatidos, dirás tú: Ensalzamiento habrá: y Dios salvará al humilde de ojos.
When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.
When they cast down, you will say, ‘be lifted up.’ He will save the humble person.
Sim, até mesmo um homem culpado será salvo, graças à pureza que há em seu coração”.
El libertará la isla del inocente; y por la limpieza de tus manos será librada.
He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.
He will even deliver him who is not innocent. Yes, he will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands.”
