Job 22

Darauf antwortete Eliphas, der Temaniter, und sprach:

Mag auch ein Mann Gott etwas nützen? Es nützt ja der Verständige nur sich selbst.

¿Traerá el hombre provecho á Dios, porque el sabio sea provechoso á sí mismo?

Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?

“Can a man be profitable to God? Surely he who is wise is profitable to himself.

Hat der Allmächtige Freude, wenn du gerecht bist? Ist's ihm ein Gewinn, wenn du in Unschuld wandelst?

¿Tiene su contentamiento el Omnipotente en que tú seas justificado, ó provecho de que tú hagas perfectos tus caminos?

Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect?

Is it any pleasure to the Almighty that you are righteous? Or does it benefit him that you make your ways perfect?

Straft er dich wegen deiner Gottesfurcht, und geht er darum mit dir ins Gericht?

¿Castigaráte acaso, ó vendrá contigo á juicio porque te teme?

Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment?

Is it for your piety that he reproves you, that he enters with you into judgment?

Sind nicht deine Missetaten groß und deine Schulden ohne Ende?

Por cierto tu malicia es grande, y tus maldades no tienen fin.

Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite?

Isn’t your wickedness great? Neither is there any end to your iniquities.

Du hast wohl deine Brüder gepfändet und den Entblößten die Kleider ausgezogen;

Porque sacaste prenda á tus hermanos sin causa, é hiciste desnudar las ropas de los desnudos.

For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.

For you have taken pledges from your brother for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing.

vielleicht hast du dem Müden kein Wasser zu trinken gegeben oder dem Hungrigen das Brot versagt.

No diste de beber agua al cansado, y detuviste el pan al hambriento.

Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.

You haven’t given water to the weary to drink, and you have withheld bread from the hungry.

Der Mächtige hat das Land bekommen, und der Angesehene wohnte darin.

Empero el hombre pudiente tuvo la tierra; y habitó en ella el distinguido.

But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it.

Du hast Witwen leer fortgeschickt und die Arme der Waisen zusammenbrechen lassen.

Las viudas enviaste vacías, y los brazos de los huérfanos fueron quebrados.

Darum liegst du in Banden und hat Furcht dich plötzlich überfallen.

Por tanto hay lazos alrededor de ti, y te turba espanto repentino;

Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee;

Oder siehst du die Finsternis nicht und die Wasserflut, die dich bedeckt?

O tinieblas, porque no veas; y abundancia de agua te cubre.

Or darkness, that thou canst not see; and abundance of waters cover thee.

Ist Gott nicht himmelhoch? Siehe doch die höchsten Sterne, wie hoch sie stehen!

¿No está Dios en la altura de los cielos? Mira lo encumbrado de las estrellas, cuán elevadas están.

Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!

“Isn’t God in the heights of heaven? See the height of the stars, how high they are!

Und du denkst: «Was weiß Gott! Sollte er hinter dem Dunkel richten?

¿Y dirás tú: Qué sabe Dios? ¿cómo juzgará por medio de la oscuridad?

And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud?

You say, ‘What does God know? Can he judge through the thick darkness?

Die Wolken hüllen ihn ein, daß er nicht sehen kann, und er wandelt auf dem Himmelsgewölbe umher!»

Las nubes son su escondedero, y no ve; y por el circuito del cielo se pasea.

Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.

Thick clouds are a covering to him, so that he doesn’t see. He walks on the vault of the sky.’

Willst du den alten Weg befolgen, den die Bösewichte gegangen sind,

¿Quieres tú guardar la senda antigua, que pisaron los hombres perversos?

Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?

Will you keep the old way, which wicked men have trodden,

die weggerafft wurden von der Flut, deren Fundament der Strom wegriß,

Los cuales fueron cortados antes de tiempo, cuyo fundamento fué como un río derramado:

Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood:

who were snatched away before their time, whose foundation was poured out as a stream,

die zu Gott sprachen: «Hebe dich weg von uns!» und «was könnte der Allmächtige einem tun?»

Que decían á Dios: Apártate de nosotros. ¿Y qué les había hecho el Omnipotente?

Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them?

who said to God, ‘Depart from us!’ and, ‘What can the Almighty do for us?’

Und er hatte doch ihre Häuser mit Gütern erfüllt! Doch der Gottlosen Rat sei fern von mir!

Habíales él henchido sus casas de bienes. Sea empero el consejo de ellos lejos de mí.

Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

Die Gerechten werden es sehen und sich freuen, und der Unschuldige wird ihrer spotten:

Verán los justos y se gozarán; y el inocente los escarnecerá, diciendo:

The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.

«Fürwahr, unsere Widersacher werden vertilgt, und das Feuer hat ihren Überrest verzehrt.»

Fué cortada nuestra sustancia, habiendo consumido el fuego el resto de ellos.

Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth.

saying, ‘Surely those who rose up against us are cut off. The fire has consumed their remnant.’

Befreunde dich doch mit Ihm und mache Frieden! Dadurch wird Gutes über dich kommen.

Amístate ahora con él, y tendrás paz; y por ello te vendrá bien.

Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.

“Acquaint yourself with him now, and be at peace. By it, good will come to you.

Nimm doch Belehrung an aus seinem Mund und lege seine Worte in dein Herz!

Toma ahora la ley de su boca, y pon sus palabras en tu corazón.

Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.

Please receive instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in your heart.

Wenn du dich zu dem Allmächtigen kehrst, so wirst du aufgerichtet werden, wenn du die Ungerechtigkeit aus deiner Hütte entfernst.

Si te tornares al Omnipotente, serás edificado; alejarás de tu tienda la aflicción;

If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.

If you return to the Almighty, you will be built up, if you put away unrighteousness far from your tents.

Wirf das Gold in den Staub und das Ophirgold zu den Steinen der Bäche,

Y tendrás más oro que tierra, y como piedras de arroyos oro de Ophir;

Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.

Lay your treasure in the dust, the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks.

so wird der Allmächtige dein Gold und dein glänzendes Silber sein!

Y el Todopoderoso será tu defensa, y tendrás plata á montones.

Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.

The Almighty will be your treasure, and precious silver to you.

Dann wirst du dich an dem Allmächtigen ergötzen und dein Angesicht zu Gott erheben;

Porque entonces te deleitarás en el Omnipotente, y alzarás á Dios tu rostro.

For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.

For then you will delight yourself in the Almighty, and will lift up your face to God.

du wirst zu ihm flehen, und er wird dich erhören, und du wirst deine Gelübde bezahlen.

Orarás á él, y él te oirá; y tú pagarás tus votos.

Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.

You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you. You will pay your vows.

Was du vornimmst, das wird dir gelingen, und ein Licht wird auf deinen Wegen leuchten.

Determinarás asimismo una cosa, y serte ha firme; y sobre tus caminos resplandecerá luz.

Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

You will also decree a thing, and it will be established to you. Light will shine on your ways.

Führen sie abwärts, so wirst du sagen: «Es geht empor!» Und wer die Augen niederschlägt, den wird er retten.

Cuando fueren abatidos, dirás tú: Ensalzamiento habrá: y Dios salvará al humilde de ojos.

When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

When they cast down, you will say, ‘be lifted up.’ He will save the humble person.

Er wird †selbst den freilassen, der nicht unschuldig ist: durch die Reinheit deiner Hände wird er entrinnen.

El libertará la isla del inocente; y por la limpieza de tus manos será librada.

He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.

He will even deliver him who is not innocent. Yes, he will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands.”
