“Todavía hoy mi queja es rebelde; su mano me aprieta a pesar de mis lamentos.
Hoy también hablaré con amargura; que es más grave mi llaga que mi gemido.
Even to day is my complaint bitter: my stroke is heavier than my groaning.
“Even today my complaint is rebellious. His hand is heavy in spite of my groaning.
¡Cómo quisiera saber dónde encontrar a Dios! ¡Ojalá pudiera llegar hasta su trono!
¡Quién me diera el saber dónde hallar á Dios! yo iría hasta su silla.
Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat!
Oh that I knew where I might find him! That I might come even to his seat!
Ante él presentaría mi defensa y llenaría mi boca de razones.
Ordenaría juicio delante de él, y henchiría mi boca de argumentos.
I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.
I would set my cause in order before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.
Así sabría lo que él me respondería y entendería lo que tendría que decirme.
Yo sabría lo que él me respondería, y entendería lo que me dijese.
I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me.
I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would tell me.
¿Acaso usaría él todo su poder para atacarme? ¡No! Al contrario, él me prestaría atención.
¿Pleitearía conmigo con grandeza de fuerza? No: antes él la pondría en mí.
Will he plead against me with his great power? No; but he would put strength in me.
Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power? No, but he would listen to me.
Allí un hombre recto podría discutir con él, y yo quedaría libre para siempre de mi juez.
Allí el justo razonaría con él: y escaparía para siempre de mi juez.
There the righteous might dispute with him; so should I be delivered for ever from my judge.
There the upright might reason with him, so I should be delivered forever from my judge.
“Pero si voy al oriente, él no está allí; si voy al occidente, tampoco lo encuentro.
He aquí yo iré al oriente, y no lo hallaré; y al occidente, y no lo percibiré:
Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him:
“If I go east, he is not there. If I go west, I can’t find him.
Si actúa al norte, no alcanzo a verlo; si se vuelve al sur, no logro divisarlo.
Si al norte él obrare, yo no lo veré; al mediodía se esconderá, y no lo veré.
On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:
He works to the north, but I can’t see him. He turns south, but I can’t catch a glimpse of him.
Pero él conoce bien el camino que tomo; ¡cuando me ponga a prueba, saldré puro como el oro!
Mas él conoció mi camino: probaráme, y saldré como oro.
But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
But he knows the way that I take. When he has tried me, I will come out like gold.
Mis pies se han mantenido firmes en sus huellas; he seguido su camino sin desviarme.
Mis pies tomaron su rastro; guardé su camino, y no me aparté.
My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.
My foot has held fast to his steps. I have kept his way, and not turned away.
No me he apartado de los mandamientos de sus labios; he valorado sus palabras más que mi alimento diario.
Del mandamiento de sus labios nunca me separé; guardé las palabras de su boca más que mi comida.
Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
I haven’t gone back from the commandment of his lips. I have treasured up the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
Pero él es único, ¿quién podrá hacerlo cambiar? Lo que él desea, eso es lo que hace.
Empero si él se determina en una cosa, ¿quién lo apartará? Su alma deseó, é hizo.
But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.
But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? What his soul desires, even that he does.
Él cumplirá lo que ha decidido para mí, y todavía tiene muchos planes como ese.
El pues acabará lo que ha determinado de mí: y muchas cosas como estas hay en él.
For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him.
For he performs that which is appointed for me. Many such things are with him.
Por eso me aterra estar en su presencia; cuando pienso en esto, me lleno de miedo.
Por lo cual yo me espanto en su presencia: consideraré, y temerélo.
Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him.
Therefore I am terrified at his presence. When I consider, I am afraid of him.
Dios me ha hecho perder el ánimo; el Todopoderoso me tiene aterrorizado.
Dios ha enervado mi corazón, y hame turbado el Omnipotente.
For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me:
For God has made my heart faint. The Almighty has terrified me.
Sin embargo, la oscuridad no me ha callado, ni las tinieblas que cubren mi rostro han podido ocultarme”.
¿Por qué no fuí yo cortado delante de las tinieblas, y cubrió con oscuridad mi rostro?
Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he covered the darkness from my face.
Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither did he cover the thick darkness from my face.
