Y RESPONDIÓ Job, y dijo:

«Mi respuesta es aún hoy amarga, pues mi castigo es mucho más grave de lo que mi falta merece.
Hoy también hablaré con amargura; que es más grave mi llaga que mi gemido.
Even to day is my complaint bitter: my stroke is heavier than my groaning.
“Even today my complaint is rebellious. His hand is heavy in spite of my groaning.
¡Si supiera yo dónde hallar a Dios, para acudir a su trono y hablar con él allí!
¡Quién me diera el saber dónde hallar á Dios! yo iría hasta su silla.
Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat!
Oh that I knew where I might find him! That I might come even to his seat!
Le expondría mi causa, y escucharía su respuesta y comprendería lo que desea.
Ordenaría juicio delante de él, y henchiría mi boca de argumentos.
I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.
I would set my cause in order before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.

Yo sabría lo que él me respondería, y entendería lo que me dijese.
I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me.
I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would tell me.
¿Querría él simplemente anonadarme con su grandeza? No, él escucharía compasivamente.
¿Pleitearía conmigo con grandeza de fuerza? No: antes él la pondría en mí.
Will he plead against me with his great power? No; but he would put strength in me.
Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power? No, but he would listen to me.
Los hombres justos y honrados podrían discutir con él, y ser absueltos por mi juez.
Allí el justo razonaría con él: y escaparía para siempre de mi juez.
There the righteous might dispute with him; so should I be delivered for ever from my judge.
There the upright might reason with him, so I should be delivered forever from my judge.
»Pero en vano trato de hallarlo. Lo busco por aquí, lo busco por allá, y no puedo hallarlo.
He aquí yo iré al oriente, y no lo hallaré; y al occidente, y no lo percibiré:
Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him:
“If I go east, he is not there. If I go west, I can’t find him.
Lo busco en donde realiza sus obras en el norte, y no lo encuentro allí. Tampoco puedo hallarlo en el sur, donde también se esconde.
Si al norte él obrare, yo no lo veré; al mediodía se esconderá, y no lo veré.
On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:
He works to the north, but I can’t see him. He turns south, but I can’t catch a glimpse of him.
Pero él conoce cada detalle de lo que a mí me ocurre; y cuando me haya examinado, me declarará completamente inocente: tan puro como oro macizo.
Mas él conoció mi camino: probaráme, y saldré como oro.
But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
But he knows the way that I take. When he has tried me, I will come out like gold.
En los senderos de Dios me he mantenido, siguiendo tras sus pasos. No me he apartado.
Mis pies tomaron su rastro; guardé su camino, y no me aparté.
My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.
My foot has held fast to his steps. I have kept his way, and not turned away.
No he rechazado sus mandamientos, sino que en ellos me he deleitado más que en mi alimento de cada día.
Del mandamiento de sus labios nunca me separé; guardé las palabras de su boca más que mi comida.
Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
I haven’t gone back from the commandment of his lips. I have treasured up the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
»Sin embargo, su intención respecto a mí sigue invariable, ¿y quién podrá apartarlo de sus propósitos? Lo que él quiere, eso hace.
Empero si él se determina en una cosa, ¿quién lo apartará? Su alma deseó, é hizo.
But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.
But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? What his soul desires, even that he does.
Así es que me hará cuanto ha planeado, y aún hay más que esperar.
El pues acabará lo que ha determinado de mí: y muchas cosas como estas hay en él.
For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him.
For he performs that which is appointed for me. Many such things are with him.
Con razón me aterrorizo tanto en su presencia. Al pensar en ella, el terror me atenaza.
Por lo cual yo me espanto en su presencia: consideraré, y temerélo.
Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him.
Therefore I am terrified at his presence. When I consider, I am afraid of him.
Dios me ha dado un corazón desfalleciente. El Todopoderoso me ha aterrado con las tinieblas y la espesa e impenetrable oscuridad que me rodean.
Dios ha enervado mi corazón, y hame turbado el Omnipotente.
For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me:
For God has made my heart faint. The Almighty has terrified me.

¿Por qué no fuí yo cortado delante de las tinieblas, y cubrió con oscuridad mi rostro?
Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he covered the darkness from my face.
Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither did he cover the thick darkness from my face.
