Todavía mi lenguaje está lleno de amargura; y aún la mano o violencia de mi dolor sobrepuja mis gemidos.
Hoy también hablaré con amargura; que es más grave mi llaga que mi gemido.
Even to day is my complaint bitter: my stroke is heavier than my groaning.
“Even today my complaint is rebellious. His hand is heavy in spite of my groaning.
¡Oh, quién me diera saber cómo encontrar a Dios, y poder llegar hasta su trono!
¡Quién me diera el saber dónde hallar á Dios! yo iría hasta su silla.
Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat!
Oh that I knew where I might find him! That I might come even to his seat!
Expondría ante él mi causa, y llenaría mi boca de amorosas reconvenciones,
Ordenaría juicio delante de él, y henchiría mi boca de argumentos.
I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.
I would set my cause in order before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.
a fin de oír lo que me respondería, y entender sus razones.
Yo sabría lo que él me respondería, y entendería lo que me dijese.
I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me.
I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would tell me.
No quisiera que contendiese conmigo con todo el poder y rigor de su justicia, ni que me abrumase con la mole de su grandeza.
¿Pleitearía conmigo con grandeza de fuerza? No: antes él la pondría en mí.
Will he plead against me with his great power? No; but he would put strength in me.
Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power? No, but he would listen to me.
Proponga y emplee contra mí su equidad, que entonces yo ganaré mi causa.
Allí el justo razonaría con él: y escaparía para siempre de mi juez.
There the righteous might dispute with him; so should I be delivered for ever from my judge.
There the upright might reason with him, so I should be delivered forever from my judge.
Si voy hacia el oriente, no se deja ver; si hacia el poniente, tampoco lo hallaré;
He aquí yo iré al oriente, y no lo hallaré; y al occidente, y no lo percibiré:
Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him:
“If I go east, he is not there. If I go west, I can’t find him.
si me muevo al norte, nada adelanto. ¿Qué haré? No podré dar con él; si al mediodía, ni aún allí lo veré.
Si al norte él obrare, yo no lo veré; al mediodía se esconderá, y no lo veré.
On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:
He works to the north, but I can’t see him. He turns south, but I can’t catch a glimpse of him.
El tiene conocidos mis pasos, y me ha acrisolado con trabajos, como se hace con el oro que pasa por el fuego.
Mas él conoció mi camino: probaráme, y saldré como oro.
But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
But he knows the way that I take. When he has tried me, I will come out like gold.
Mis pies han seguido sus huellas; he andado por sus caminos, sin desviarme nunca de ellos.
Mis pies tomaron su rastro; guardé su camino, y no me aparté.
My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.
My foot has held fast to his steps. I have kept his way, and not turned away.
He observado siempre los preceptos que han salido de sus labios, depositando en mi corazón las palabras de su boca.
Del mandamiento de sus labios nunca me separé; guardé las palabras de su boca más que mi comida.
Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
I haven’t gone back from the commandment of his lips. I have treasured up the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
Mas él es el sólo que subsiste por sí; y nadie puede trastornar sus designios, y como Señor universal, cuanto le pareció, eso hizo.
Empero si él se determina en una cosa, ¿quién lo apartará? Su alma deseó, é hizo.
But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.
But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? What his soul desires, even that he does.
Cuando haya hecho de mí aquello que haya querido, aún tiene a mano otras muchas cosas semejantes.
El pues acabará lo que ha determinado de mí: y muchas cosas como estas hay en él.
For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him.
For he performs that which is appointed for me. Many such things are with him.
Y por esto no me estremezco en su presencia; y cuando pienso en él, me siento agitado de temor.
Por lo cual yo me espanto en su presencia: consideraré, y temerélo.
Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him.
Therefore I am terrified at his presence. When I consider, I am afraid of him.
Dios ha ablandado mi corazón, y lo ha hecho dócil; y el Todopoderoso me ha conturbado,
Dios ha enervado mi corazón, y hame turbado el Omnipotente.
For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me:
For God has made my heart faint. The Almighty has terrified me.
pues no por las tinieblas o calamidades que tengo sobre mí, me doy por perdido; ni la densa niebla de males me ha tapado el rostro.
¿Por qué no fuí yo cortado delante de las tinieblas, y cubrió con oscuridad mi rostro?
Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he covered the darkness from my face.
Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither did he cover the thick darkness from my face.
