Y Job nuevamente tomó la palabra y dijo:
Y VOLVIÓ Job á tomar su propósito, y dijo:
Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,

¡Si pudiera volver a ser como estaba en los meses pasados, en los días en que Dios me estaba cuidando!
¡Quién me tornase como en los meses pasados, como en los días que Dios me guardaba,
Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;
“Oh that I were as in the months of old, as in the days when God watched over me;
Cuando su luz brillaba sobre mi cabeza, y cuando por su luz podía andar en la oscuridad.
Cuando hacía resplandecer su candela sobre mi cabeza, á la luz de la cual yo caminaba en la oscuridad;
When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;
when his lamp shone on my head, and by his light I walked through darkness,
Cuando yo estaba en los días de mi juventud, cuando mi tienda fue cubierta por la mano de Dios;
Como fué en los días de mi mocedad, cuando el secreto de Dios estaba en mi tienda;
As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;
as I was in my prime, when the friendship of God was in my tent,
Cuando él Todopoderoso estaba todavía conmigo, y mis hijos me rodeaban;
Cuando aun el Omnipotente estaba conmigo, y mis hijos alrededor de mí;
When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;
when the Almighty was yet with me, and my children were around me,
Cuando mis pies se lavaron con leche, y ríos de aceite fluían de la roca para mí.
Cuando lavaba yo mis caminos con manteca, y la piedra me derramaba ríos de aceite!
When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;
when my steps were washed with butter, and the rock poured out streams of oil for me,
Cuando salía a la puerta, para subir al pueblo y tomar asiento en el lugar público.
Cuando salía á la puerta á juicio, y en la plaza hacía preparar mi asiento,
When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!

Los jóvenes me vieron y se escondían, y los ancianos se levantaron de sus asientos;
Los mozos me veían, y se escondían; y los viejos se levantaban, y estaban en pie;
The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up.

Los gobernantes se callaron, y se pusieron las manos en la boca;
Los príncipes detenían sus palabras, ponían la mano sobre su boca;
The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.

Los jefes bajaron su voz, y sus lenguas se les pegaba al paladar de sus bocas.
La voz de los principales se ocultaba, y su lengua se pegaba á su paladar:
The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.

Porque cuando llegó a sus oídos, los hombres dijeron que yo era verdaderamente feliz; Y cuando vieron sus ojos, me dieron testimonio;
Cuando los oídos que me oían, me llamaban bienaventurado, y los ojos que me veían, me daban testimonio:
When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:
For when the ear heard me, then it blessed me, and when the eye saw me, it commended me,
Porque yo era un salvador de los pobres cuando él clamaba por ayuda, y por huérfano que no tenía ayuda.
Porque libraba al pobre que gritaba, y al huérfano que carecía de ayudador.
Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.

La bendición de aquel que estaba cerca de la destrucción vino sobre mí, y puse una canción de alegría en el corazón de la viuda.
La bendición del que se iba á perder venía sobre mí; y al corazón de la viuda daba alegría.
The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.

Me puse la justicia como mi ropa, y estaba llena de ella; Las decisiones correctas fueron para mí una bata y un tocado.
Vestíame de justicia, y ella me vestía como un manto; y mi toca era juicio.
I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.

Yo era ojos para los ciegos, y pies para el que no tenía poder para caminar.

Yo era un padre para los pobres, examinaba la causa que no conocía.
A los menesterosos era padre; y de la causa que no entendía, me informaba con diligencia:
I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.

Por mí se rompieron los grandes dientes del malvado, y le hice renunciar a lo que había quitado violentamente.
Y quebraba los colmillos del inicuo, y de sus dientes hacía soltar la presa.
And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.

Entonces dije: Terminaré con mis hijos a mi alrededor, mis días serán como la arena en número;
Y decía yo: En mi nido moriré, y como arena multiplicaré días.
Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.
Then I said, ‘I will die in my own house, I will count my days as the sand.
Mi raíz estará abierta a las aguas, y él rocío de la noche estará en mis ramas,
Mi raíz estaba abierta junto á las aguas, y en mis ramas permanecía el rocío.
My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.
My root is spread out to the waters. The dew lies all night on my branch.
Mi gloria será siempre nueva, y mi arco se renueva fácilmente en mi mano.
Mi honra se renovaba en mí, y mi arco se corroboraba en mi mano.
My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.
My glory is fresh in me. My bow is renewed in my hand.’
Los hombres me escucharon, esperando y guardando silencio para mis sugerencias.
Oíanme, y esperaban; y callaban á mi consejo.
Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.
“Men listened to me, waited, and kept silence for my counsel.
Después de haber dicho lo que tenía en mente, se quedaron callados y dejaron que mis palabras se adentren en sus corazones;
Tras mi palabra no replicaban, y mi razón destilaba sobre ellos.
After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.
After my words they didn’t speak again. My speech fell on them.
Me esperaban como a la lluvia, abriendo la boca como a las lluvias de primavera.
Y esperábanme como á la lluvia, y abrían su boca como á la lluvia tardía.
And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.
They waited for me as for the rain. Their mouths drank as with the spring rain.
Cuando yo les sonreía, cuando no tenían esperanza, y la luz de mi cara nunca fue nublada por su miedo.
Si me reía con ellos, no lo creían: y no abatían la luz de mi rostro.
If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.
I smiled on them when they had no confidence. They didn’t reject the light of my face.
Tomé mi lugar como jefe, guiándolos en su camino, y fui como rey entre su ejército cuando estaban tristes yo los consolaba.
Calificaba yo el camino de ellos, y sentábame en cabecera; y moraba como rey en el ejército, como el que consuela llorosos.
I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.
