Comme aux jours de mon automne, quand l’amitié de Dieu veillait sur ma tente ;
Como fué en los días de mi mocedad, cuando el secreto de Dios estaba en mi tienda;
As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;

Quand le Tout-Puissant était encore avec moi, et que mes jeunes gens m’entouraient ;

Quand je lavais mes pieds dans le lait, et que le rocher se fondait près de moi en torrent d’huile !

When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;
when my steps were washed with butter, and the rock poured out streams of oil for me,
Quand je sortais pour me rendre à la porte de la ville, et que je me faisais préparer un siège dans la place publique,
Cuando salía á la puerta á juicio, y en la plaza hacía preparar mi asiento,

Car l’oreille qui m’entendait me proclamait heureux, et l’œil qui me voyait me rendait témoignage.

Ma racine sera exposée à l’eau, et la rosée passera la nuit dans mes branches.
Mi raíz estaba abierta junto á las aguas, y en mis ramas permanecía el rocío.
My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.

Ma gloire se renouvellera en moi, et mon arc se renforcera dans ma main.

On m’écoutait, on attendait et on se taisait, jusqu’à ce que j’eusse donné mon avis.
