als seine Leuchte noch über meinem Haupte strahlte und ich in seinem Licht durch das Dunkel wandelte,

When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;

so, wie es mit mir in den Tagen meines Herbstes stand, als Gottes Freundschaft über meinem Zelt waltete,
Como fué en los días de mi mocedad, cuando el secreto de Dios estaba en mi tienda;
As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;
as I was in my prime, when the friendship of God was in my tent,
als der Allmächtige noch auf meiner Seite stand, meine Söhne noch rings um mich her waren,
Cuando aun el Omnipotente estaba conmigo, y mis hijos alrededor de mí;

als meiner Füße Tritte sich in Milch badeten und jeder Fels neben mir Bäche von Öl fließen ließ!«
Cuando lavaba yo mis caminos con manteca, y la piedra me derramaba ríos de aceite!
When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;

»Wenn ich (damals) hinaufging zum Tor der Stadt und meinen Stuhl auf dem Marktplatz aufstellte,
Cuando salía á la puerta á juicio, y en la plaza hacía preparar mi asiento,

mein Ansehen wird unverändert mir verbleiben und mein Bogen sich in meiner Hand stets verjüngen.‹
Mi honra se renovaba en mí, y mi arco se corroboraba en mi mano.

Mir hörten sie zu und warteten auf mich und lauschten schweigend auf meinen Rat.
Oíanme, y esperaban; y callaban á mi consejo.
Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.

Wenn ich gesprochen hatte, nahm keiner nochmals das Wort, sondern meine Rede träufelte auf sie herab.
Tras mi palabra no replicaban, y mi razón destilaba sobre ellos.
After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.

Sie warteten auf meine Rede wie auf den Regen und sperrten den Mund nach mir auf wie nach Frühlingsregen.
