Y VOLVIÓ Job á tomar su propósito, y dijo:

Ojalá volviera a ser como en meses pasados, como en los días cuando ʼElohim me vigilaba,
¡Quién me tornase como en los meses pasados, como en los días que Dios me guardaba,
Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;

cuando su lámpara estaba sobre mi cabeza y a su luz yo caminaba en la oscuridad,
Cuando hacía resplandecer su candela sobre mi cabeza, á la luz de la cual yo caminaba en la oscuridad;
When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;
when his lamp shone on my head, and by his light I walked through darkness,
aquellos días de mi vigor cuando la amistad íntima de ʼElohim velaba sobre mi vivienda,
Como fué en los días de mi mocedad, cuando el secreto de Dios estaba en mi tienda;
As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;
as I was in my prime, when the friendship of God was in my tent,
cuando ʼEL-Shadday aún estaba conmigo, y mis hijos alrededor de mí,
Cuando aun el Omnipotente estaba conmigo, y mis hijos alrededor de mí;
When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;
when the Almighty was yet with me, and my children were around me,
cuando mis pasos eran lavados con mantequilla y la roca me derramaba ríos de aceite,
Cuando lavaba yo mis caminos con manteca, y la piedra me derramaba ríos de aceite!
When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;
when my steps were washed with butter, and the rock poured out streams of oil for me,
cuando iba a la puerta de la ciudad y en la plaza preparaba mi asiento.
Cuando salía á la puerta á juicio, y en la plaza hacía preparar mi asiento,

Los jóvenes me veían y se escondían. Los ancianos se levantaban y permanecían en pie.

Los magistrados detenían sus palabras y ponían la mano sobre sus bocas.

La voz de los nobles enmudecía y su lengua se les pegaba al paladar.

Los oídos que me escuchaban me llamaban bienaventurado, y los ojos que me miraban daban testimonio a mi favor.

When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:

Porque yo libraba al pobre que clamaba y al huérfano que no tenía ayudador.

Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.

La bendición del que iba a perecer caía sobre mí, y daba alegría al corazón de la viuda.

Me vestía de rectitud y con ella me cubría. Mi justicia era como un manto y un turbante.

Rompía las quijadas del perverso y de sus dientes arrancaba la presa.

And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.

Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.

Mi raíz se extendía hacia las aguas, y el rocío pernoctaba en mi ramaje.
Mi raíz estaba abierta junto á las aguas, y en mis ramas permanecía el rocío.
My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.
My root is spread out to the waters. The dew lies all night on my branch.
Mi honra se renovaba en mí, y mi arco se fortalecía en mi mano.

My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.

Me escuchaban, esperaban y guardaban silencio ante mi consejo.
Oíanme, y esperaban; y callaban á mi consejo.
Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.
“Men listened to me, waited, and kept silence for my counsel.
Después de mi palabra no replicaban. Mi razón destilaba sobre ellos.

After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.

La esperaban como a la lluvia temprana, y abrían su boca como a la lluvia tardía.

And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.
