For want and famine they were solitary; fleeing into the wilderness in former time desolate and waste.

Upon my right hand rise the youth; they push away my feet, and they raise up against me the ways of their destruction.

Meinen Pfad haben sie aufgerissen, auf meinen Sturz arbeiten sie hin, niemand tut ihnen Einhalt.
Mi senda desbarataron, aprovecháronse de mi quebrantamiento, contra los cuales no hubo ayudador.
They mar my path, they set forward my calamity, they have no helper.
They mar my path. They promote my destruction without anyone’s help.
Wie durch einen breiten Mauerriß kommen sie heran, durch die Trümmer wälzen sie sich daher:
Vinieron como por portillo ancho, revolviéronse á mi calamidad.
They came upon me as a wide breaking in of waters: in the desolation they rolled themselves upon me.
As through a wide breach they come. They roll themselves in amid the ruin.
ein Schreckensheer hat sich gegen mich gekehrt; wie vom Sturmwind wird meine Ehre weggerafft, und wie eine Wolke ist mein Glück vorübergezogen!«
Hanse revuelto turbaciones sobre mí; combatieron como viento mi alma, y mi salud pasó como nube.
Terrors are turned upon me: they pursue my soul as the wind: and my welfare passeth away as a cloud.
Terrors have turned on me. They chase my honor as the wind. My welfare has passed away as a cloud.
»So verblutet sich denn jetzt das Herz in mir: die Tage des Elends halten mich in ihrer Gewalt.
Y ahora mi alma está derramada en mí; días de aflicción me han aprehendido.
And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of affliction have taken hold upon me.
