1Esos tres hombres dejaron de responderle a Job, porque él insistía en que era inocente.
2Pero Eliú hijo de Baraquel, el buzita de la familia de Ram, se encendió en ira contra Job. Se enojó mucho porque Job se justificaba a sí mismo en lugar de justificar a Dios.
3También se enojó contra sus tres amigos, porque no habían hallado qué responder, aunque habían condenado a Job.
4Eliú había esperado para hablar porque los otros eran mayores que él.
5Pero cuando Eliú vio que esos tres hombres ya no tenían nada que decir, se enfureció.
6Entonces Eliú hijo de Baraquel, el buzita, tomó la palabra y dijo: “Yo soy joven, y ustedes son ya viejos; por eso me dio pena y no me atreví a decirles lo que pienso.
7Yo me decía: ‘Que hable la experiencia; que los muchos años enseñen la sabiduría’.
8Pero en realidad, es el espíritu en el hombre, el soplo del Todopoderoso, lo que da entendimiento.
9No siempre los que tienen autoridad son sabios, ni los viejos son los únicos que entienden la justicia.
10Por eso les pido: ‘Escúchenme; yo también les voy a decir lo que pienso’.
11“Miren, yo he esperado a que ustedes hablaran, escuché sus argumentos mientras buscaban las palabras adecuadas.
12Les he prestado mucha atención, pero ninguno de ustedes ha podido convencer a Job, ni han sabido responder a sus razones.
13No vengan ahora con que: ‘Hemos hallado la sabiduría; que solo Dios lo puede vencer, no un hombre’.
14Job no dirigió sus palabras contra mí, así que no voy a responderle con los mismos argumentos de ustedes.
15“Aquí están ellos, pasmados, sin respuesta; se han quedado sin palabras.
16¿Y voy a seguir esperando ahora que se callan, ahora que se quedan ahí parados sin decir nada?
17¡Claro que no! Yo también voy a dar mi parte; voy a decir lo que pienso.
18Porque tengo tanto que decir que el espíritu dentro de mí me obliga a hablar.
19Me siento como vino encerrado que no tiene salida; ¡como cueros de vino nuevos que están por reventar!
20Tengo que hablar para desahogarme; voy a abrir mis labios para responder.
21No me voy a poner del lado de nadie, ni voy a andar con adulaciones para con ningún hombre.
22Porque yo no sé andar con halagos; si lo hiciera, mi Creador me eliminaría pronto.

1Y CESARON estos tres varones de responder á Job, por cuanto él era justo en sus ojos.
2Entonces Eliú hijo de Barachêl, Bucita,, de la familia de Ram, se enojó con furor contra Job: enojóse con furor, por cuanto justificaba su vida más que á Dios.
3Enojóse asimismo con furor contra sus tres amigos, porque no hallaban qué responder, aunque habían condenado á Job.
4Y Eliú había esperado á Job en la disputa, porque eran más viejos de días que él.
5Empero viendo Eliú que no había respuesta en la boca de aquellos tres varones, su furor se encendió.
6Y respondió Eliú hijo de Barachêl, Bucita, y dijo: Yo soy menor de días, y vosotros viejos; he tenido por tanto miedo, y temido declararos mi opinión.
7Yo decía: Los días hablarán, y la muchedumbre de años declarará sabiduría.
8Ciertamente espíritu hay en el hombre, é inspiración del Omnipotente los hace que entiendan.
9No los grandes son los sabios, ni los viejos entienden el derecho.
10Por tanto yo dije: Escuchadme; declararé yo también mi sabiduría.
11He aquí yo he esperado á vuestras razones, he escuchado vuestros argumentos, en tanto que buscabais palabras.
12Os he pues prestado atención, y he aquí que no hay de vosotros quien redarguya á Job, y responda á sus razones.
13Porque no digáis: Nosotros hemos hallado sabiduría: lanzólo Dios, no el hombre.
14Ahora bien, Job no enderezó á mí sus palabras, ni yo le responderé con vuestras razones.
15Espantáronse, no respondieron más: fuéronseles los razonamientos.
16Yo pues he esperado, porque no hablaban, antes pararon, y no respondieron más.
17Por eso yo también responderé mi parte, también yo declararé mi juicio.
18Porque lleno estoy de palabras, y el espíritu de mi vientre me constriñe.
19De cierto mi vientre está como el vino que no tiene respiradero, y se rompe como odres nuevos.
20Hablaré pues y respiraré; abriré mis labios, y responderé.
21No haré ahora acepción de personas, ni usaré con hombre de lisonjeros títulos.
22Porque no sé hablar lisonjas: de otra manera en breve mi Hacedor me consuma.

1So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
2Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.
3Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
4Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they were elder than he.
5When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled.
6And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion.
7I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.
8But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
9Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.
10Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will shew mine opinion.
11Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say.
12Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you that convinced Job, or that answered his words:
13Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom: God thrusteth him down, not man.
14Now he hath not directed his words against me: neither will I answer him with your speeches.
15They were amazed, they answered no more: they left off speaking.
16When I had waited, (for they spake not, but stood still, and answered no more;)
17I said, I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion.
18For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me.
19Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles.
20I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer.
21Let me not, I pray you, accept any man’s person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.
22For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away.

1So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
2Then the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel, the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was kindled against Job. His wrath was kindled because he justified himself rather than God.
3Also his wrath was kindled against his three friends, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
4Now Elihu had waited to speak to Job, because they were older than he.
5When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, his wrath was kindled.
6Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered, “I am young, and you are very old. Therefore I held back, and didn’t dare show you my opinion.
7I said, ‘Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.’
8But there is a spirit in man, and the Spirit of the Almighty gives them understanding.
9It is not the great who are wise, nor the aged who understand justice.
10Therefore I said, ‘Listen to me; I also will show my opinion.’
11“Behold, I waited for your words, and I listened for your reasoning, while you searched out what to say.
12Yes, I gave you my full attention, but there was no one who convinced Job, or who answered his words, among you.
13Beware lest you say, ‘We have found wisdom. God may refute him, not man;’
14for he has not directed his words against me; neither will I answer him with your speeches.
15“They are amazed. They answer no more. They don’t have a word to say.
16Shall I wait, because they don’t speak, because they stand still, and answer no more?
17I also will answer my part, and I also will show my opinion.
18For I am full of words. The spirit within me constrains me.
19Behold, my breast is as wine which has no vent; like new wineskins it is ready to burst.
20I will speak, that I may be refreshed. I will open my lips and answer.
21Please don’t let me respect any man’s person, neither will I give flattering titles to any man.
22For I don’t know how to give flattering titles, or else my Maker would soon take me away.
