Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.
“However, Job, please hear my speech, and listen to all my words.
Mira, ya he abierto la boca; mis palabras están en la punta de la lengua.
He aquí yo abriré ahora mi boca, y mi lengua hablará en mi garganta.
Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.
See now, I have opened my mouth. My tongue has spoken in my mouth.
Lo que voy a decir sale de un corazón sincero; mis labios dirán con claridad lo que saben.
Mis razones declararán la rectitud de mi corazón, y mis labios proferirán pura sabiduría.
My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.
My words will utter the uprightness of my heart. That which my lips know they will speak sincerely.
El Espíritu de Dios me hizo; el aliento del Todopoderoso me mantiene con vida.
El espíritu de Dios me hizo, y la inspiración del Omnipotente me dió vida.
The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

Respóndeme, si puedes; prepara tus argumentos y enfrentate a mí.
Si pudieres, respóndeme; dispón tus palabras, está delante de mí.
If thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up.
If you can, answer me. Set your words in order before me, and stand up.
Mira, ante Dios yo soy igual que tú; yo también fui formado del barro.
Heme aquí á mí en lugar de Dios, conforme á tu dicho: de lodo soy yo también formado.
Behold, I am according to thy wish in God’s stead: I also am formed out of the clay.
Behold, I am toward God even as you are. I am also formed out of the clay.
No tienes por qué tenerme miedo, ni voy a ser duro contigo.
He aquí que mi terror no te espantará, ni mi mano se agravará sobre ti.
Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.
Behold, my terror will not make you afraid, neither will my pressure be heavy on you.
“Tú has dicho ante mis propios oídos, y yo escuché claramente cuando afirmaste:
De cierto tú dijiste á oídos míos, y yo oí la voz de tus palabras que decían:
Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,
“Surely you have spoken in my hearing, I have heard the voice of your words, saying,
‘Yo soy puro y no he pecado; estoy limpio y no hay maldad en mí.
Yo soy limpio y sin defecto; y soy inocente, y no hay maldad en mí.
I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.
‘I am clean, without disobedience. I am innocent, neither is there iniquity in me.
Pero Dios busca motivos para atacarme; me trata como si fuera su enemigo.
He aquí que él buscó achaques contra mí, y me tiene por su enemigo;
Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,
Behold, he finds occasions against me. He counts me for his enemy.
Me pone los pies en el cepo y vigila todos mis pasos’.
Puso mis pies en el cepo, y guardó todas mis sendas.
He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.
He puts my feet in the stocks. He marks all my paths.’
“Pero déjame decirte que en esto te equivocas, porque Dios es mucho más importante que cualquier mortal.
He aquí en esto no has hablado justamente: yo te responderé que mayor es Dios que el hombre.
Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.
“Behold, I will answer you. In this you are not just, for God is greater than man.
¿Por qué discutes con él? ¿Por qué te quejas de que no te responde?
¿Por qué tomaste pleito contra él? Porque él no da cuenta de ninguna de sus razones.
Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.
Why do you strive against him, because he doesn’t give account of any of his matters?
Dios habla de una manera, y luego de otra, aunque no nos demos cuenta.
Sin embargo, en una ó en dos maneras habla Dios; mas el hombre no entiende.
For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
For God speaks once, yes twice, though man pays no attention.
Habla en sueños, en visiones nocturnas, cuando el sueño profundo cae sobre los hombres mientras duermen en su cama.
Por sueño de visión nocturna, cuando el sueño cae sobre los hombres, cuando se adormecen sobre el lecho;
In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;
In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, in slumbering on the bed,
Entonces les abre el oído y les confirma su enseñanza,
Entonces revela al oído de los hombres, y les señala su consejo;
Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,

para que el hombre deje de hacer lo malo y se aparte del orgullo.
Para quitar al hombre de su obra, y apartar del varón la soberbia.
That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.

Así libra su alma de la tumba y evita que su vida muera a espada.
Detendrá su alma de corrupción, y su vida de que pase á cuchillo.

“También usa el dolor para corregir al hombre en su cama, con un sufrimiento constante en sus huesos,
También sobre su cama es castigado con dolor fuerte en todos sus huesos,
He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:
“He is chastened also with pain on his bed, with continual strife in his bones,
al grado que el enfermo pierde el hambre y no quiere probar ni la comida más rica.
Que le hace que su vida aborrezca el pan, y su alma la comida suave.
So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.
so that his life abhors bread, and his soul dainty food.
Se pone tan flaco que ya no se reconoce; se le marcan los huesos que antes no se veían.
Su carne desfallece sin verse, y sus huesos, que antes no se veían, aparecen.
His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.

Su vida se acerca a la tumba, y su alma a los que causan la muerte.

Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.

“Pero si tiene a su lado un ángel, un mediador, uno entre mil, que le enseñe al hombre lo que es recto;
Si tuviera cerca de él algún elocuente anunciador muy escogido, que anuncie al hombre su deber;
If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:
“If there is beside him an angel, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to show to man what is right for him,
si Dios tiene compasión de él y dice: ‘Líbralo de bajar a la tumba, que ya he encontrado quien pague por su vida’,
Que le diga que Dios tuvo de él misericordia, que lo libró de descender al sepulcro, que halló redención:
Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
then God is gracious to him, and says, ‘Deliver him from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom.’
entonces su cuerpo se renovará como el de un niño y volverá a tener el vigor de su juventud.
Enterneceráse su carne más que de niño, volverá á los días de su mocedad.
His flesh shall be fresher than a child’s: he shall return to the days of his youth:
His flesh will be fresher than a child’s. He returns to the days of his youth.
Orará a Dios y él lo escuchará; verá el rostro de Dios con alegría, y Dios le devolverá su bienestar.
Orará á Dios, y le amará, y verá su faz con júbilo: y él restituirá al hombre su justicia.
He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.
He prays to God, and he is favorable to him, so that he sees his face with joy. He restores to man his righteousness.
Entonces cantará ante la gente y dirá: ‘Pequé y torcí lo que era justo, pero Dios no me dio el castigo que merecía.
El mira sobre los hombres; y el que dijere: Pequé, y pervertí lo recto, y no me ha aprovechado;
He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;
He sings before men, and says, ‘I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it didn’t profit me.
Él me salvó de bajar a la tumba; ¡mi vida volverá a ver la luz!’.
Dios redimirá su alma, que no pase al sepulcro, y su vida se verá en luz.
He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.
He has redeemed my soul from going into the pit. My life will see the light.’
“Dios hace todo esto por el hombre, dos y hasta tres veces,
He aquí, todas estas cosas hace Dios dos y tres veces con el hombre;
Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,
“Behold, God does all these things, twice, yes three times, with a man,
para salvarlo de la muerte y para que la luz de la vida lo ilumine.
Para apartar su alma del sepulcro, y para iluminarlo con la luz de los vivientes.
To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.
to bring back his soul from the pit, that he may be enlightened with the light of the living.
Escucha, Job, y ponme atención; guarda silencio, que yo voy a hablar.
Escucha, Job, y óyeme; calla, y yo hablaré.
Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.
Mark well, Job, and listen to me. Hold your peace, and I will speak.
Pero si tienes algo que decir, respóndeme; habla, que yo quiero darte la razón si la tienes.
Que si tuvieres razones, respóndeme: habla, porque yo te quiero justificar.
If thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.
If you have anything to say, answer me. Speak, for I desire to justify you.
Y si no, escúchame tú a mí; cállate y te enseñaré lo que es la verdadera sabiduría”.
Y si no, óyeme tú á mí; calla, y enseñarte he sabiduría.
If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.
If not, listen to me. Hold your peace, and I will teach you wisdom.”
