Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.
“However, Job, please hear my speech, and listen to all my words.
Voici, j’ouvre la bouche, ma langue parle en mon palais.
He aquí yo abriré ahora mi boca, y mi lengua hablará en mi garganta.
Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.
See now, I have opened my mouth. My tongue has spoken in my mouth.
Mes paroles exprimeront la droiture de mon cœur ; mes lèvres diront franchement ce que je sais.
Mis razones declararán la rectitud de mi corazón, y mis labios proferirán pura sabiduría.
My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.
My words will utter the uprightness of my heart. That which my lips know they will speak sincerely.
C’est l’Esprit de Dieu qui m’a fait ; c’est le souffle du Tout- Puissant qui m’a donné la vie.
El espíritu de Dios me hizo, y la inspiración del Omnipotente me dió vida.
The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

Si tu le peux, réponds-moi ; résiste-moi en face, et tiens-toi bien.
Si pudieres, respóndeme; dispón tus palabras, está delante de mí.
If thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up.

Voici, je suis ton égal devant Dieu ; j’ai été tiré de la boue, moi aussi.
Heme aquí á mí en lugar de Dios, conforme á tu dicho: de lodo soy yo también formado.
Behold, I am according to thy wish in God’s stead: I also am formed out of the clay.
Behold, I am toward God even as you are. I am also formed out of the clay.
Voici, ma terreur ne te troublera point, et ma majesté ne pèsera pas sur toi.
He aquí que mi terror no te espantará, ni mi mano se agravará sobre ti.
Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.
Behold, my terror will not make you afraid, neither will my pressure be heavy on you.
Vraiment, tu as dit à mes oreilles, et j’ai entendu le son de tes paroles :
De cierto tú dijiste á oídos míos, y yo oí la voz de tus palabras que decían:
Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,
“Surely you have spoken in my hearing, I have heard the voice of your words, saying,
Je suis pur, sans péché ; je suis net, et il n’y a point d’iniquité en moi.
Yo soy limpio y sin defecto; y soy inocente, y no hay maldad en mí.
I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.
‘I am clean, without disobedience. I am innocent, neither is there iniquity in me.
Voici, Dieu me cherche querelle, il me tient pour son ennemi ;
He aquí que él buscó achaques contra mí, y me tiene por su enemigo;
Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,
Behold, he finds occasions against me. He counts me for his enemy.
Il met mes pieds dans les ceps, il surveille tous mes mouvements.
Puso mis pies en el cepo, y guardó todas mis sendas.
He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.
He puts my feet in the stocks. He marks all my paths.’
Voici, en cela, tu n’as pas été juste, te répondrai-je ; car Dieu est plus grand que l’homme.
He aquí en esto no has hablado justamente: yo te responderé que mayor es Dios que el hombre.
Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.
“Behold, I will answer you. In this you are not just, for God is greater than man.
Pourquoi as-tu plaidé contre lui ? Il ne rend pas compte de ce qu’il fait.
¿Por qué tomaste pleito contra él? Porque él no da cuenta de ninguna de sus razones.
Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.
Why do you strive against him, because he doesn’t give account of any of his matters?
Dieu parle cependant une fois, deux fois, mais on n’y prend pas garde ;
Sin embargo, en una ó en dos maneras habla Dios; mas el hombre no entiende.
For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
For God speaks once, yes twice, though man pays no attention.
En songe, par des visions nocturnes, quand le sommeil tombe sur les humains, pendant qu’ils dorment sur leur couche ;
Por sueño de visión nocturna, cuando el sueño cae sobre los hombres, cuando se adormecen sobre el lecho;
In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

Alors il ouvre l’oreille de l’homme, et il met le sceau sur ses réprimandes,
Entonces revela al oído de los hombres, y les señala su consejo;

Afin de détourner l’homme de son œuvre, et d’éloigner de lui l’orgueil,
Para quitar al hombre de su obra, y apartar del varón la soberbia.

Detendrá su alma de corrupción, y su vida de que pase á cuchillo.

L’homme est aussi châtié par des douleurs, sur son lit, par l’agitation continuelle de ses os.
También sobre su cama es castigado con dolor fuerte en todos sus huesos,
He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:
“He is chastened also with pain on his bed, with continual strife in his bones,
Alors sa vie prend en horreur le pain, et son âme les mets les plus désirés.
Que le hace que su vida aborrezca el pan, y su alma la comida suave.
So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.

Sa chair se consume et disparaît ; ses os qu’on ne voyait pas, sont mis à nu.
Su carne desfallece sin verse, y sus huesos, que antes no se veían, aparecen.
His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.

Son âme approche de la fosse, et sa vie de ceux qui font mourir.
Y su alma se acerca al sepulcro, y su vida á los que causan la muerte.

S’il y a pour cet homme quelque ange médiateur, un entre mille, pour lui faire connaître ce qu’il doit faire,
Si tuviera cerca de él algún elocuente anunciador muy escogido, que anuncie al hombre su deber;
If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:
“If there is beside him an angel, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to show to man what is right for him,
Alors Dieu prend pitié de lui, et dit : "Rachète-le ; qu’il ne descende pas dans la fosse ; j’ai trouvé une rançon ! "
Que le diga que Dios tuvo de él misericordia, que lo libró de descender al sepulcro, que halló redención:
Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
then God is gracious to him, and says, ‘Deliver him from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom.’
Sa chair prend plus de fraîcheur que dans son enfance ; il revient aux jours de sa jeunesse.
Enterneceráse su carne más que de niño, volverá á los días de su mocedad.
His flesh shall be fresher than a child’s: he shall return to the days of his youth:
His flesh will be fresher than a child’s. He returns to the days of his youth.
Il supplie Dieu, et Dieu lui est favorable. Il lui fait contempler avec joie sa face, et il lui rend sa justice.
Orará á Dios, y le amará, y verá su faz con júbilo: y él restituirá al hombre su justicia.
He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.
He prays to God, and he is favorable to him, so that he sees his face with joy. He restores to man his righteousness.
Il chante au milieu des hommes, et il dit : "J’avais péché, j’avais violé la justice, et ma peine n’a pas égalé ma faute.
El mira sobre los hombres; y el que dijere: Pequé, y pervertí lo recto, y no me ha aprovechado;
He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;
He sings before men, and says, ‘I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it didn’t profit me.
Il a racheté mon âme, afin qu’elle ne passât point dans la fosse, et ma vie voit encore la lumière ! "
Dios redimirá su alma, que no pase al sepulcro, y su vida se verá en luz.
He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.
He has redeemed my soul from going into the pit. My life will see the light.’
Voilà ce que Dieu fait deux, trois fois, envers l’homme,
He aquí, todas estas cosas hace Dios dos y tres veces con el hombre;
Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,
“Behold, God does all these things, twice, yes three times, with a man,
Pour ramener son âme de la fosse, pour qu’elle soit éclairée de la lumière des vivants.
Para apartar su alma del sepulcro, y para iluminarlo con la luz de los vivientes.
To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.

Sois attentif, Job, écoute-moi ! Tais-toi, et je parlerai.
Escucha, Job, y óyeme; calla, y yo hablaré.
Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.
Mark well, Job, and listen to me. Hold your peace, and I will speak.
Si tu as quelque chose à dire, réponds-moi ; parle, car je désire te justifier.
Que si tuvieres razones, respóndeme: habla, porque yo te quiero justificar.
If thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.
If you have anything to say, answer me. Speak, for I desire to justify you.
Sinon, écoute-moi ; tais-toi, et je t’enseignerai la sagesse.
Y si no, óyeme tú á mí; calla, y enseñarte he sabiduría.
If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.
If not, listen to me. Hold your peace, and I will teach you wisdom.”
