Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.

Agora que comecei, não me interrompa; minhas palavras estão na ponta da língua.
He aquí yo abriré ahora mi boca, y mi lengua hablará en mi garganta.
Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.
See now, I have opened my mouth. My tongue has spoken in my mouth.
Escute os meus argumentos e verá que tenho um coração íntegro e que usarei de palavras sábias.
Mis razones declararán la rectitud de mi corazón, y mis labios proferirán pura sabiduría.
My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.
My words will utter the uprightness of my heart. That which my lips know they will speak sincerely.
O Espírito de Deus me criou e o sopro do Todo-poderoso é quem me conserva com vida.
El espíritu de Dios me hizo, y la inspiración del Omnipotente me dió vida.
The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

Ouça o que vou falar e depois me responda, se for capaz.
Si pudieres, respóndeme; dispón tus palabras, está delante de mí.
If thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up.

Bem, aqui estou eu, um homem como você diante de Deus; eu também fui feito de barro.
Heme aquí á mí en lugar de Dios, conforme á tu dicho: de lodo soy yo también formado.
Behold, I am according to thy wish in God’s stead: I also am formed out of the clay.
Behold, I am toward God even as you are. I am also formed out of the clay.
Não é preciso ter medo de mim; a minha mão não vai ser pesada sobre você.
He aquí que mi terror no te espantará, ni mi mano se agravará sobre ti.
Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.
Behold, my terror will not make you afraid, neither will my pressure be heavy on you.

De cierto tú dijiste á oídos míos, y yo oí la voz de tus palabras que decían:
Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,
“Surely you have spoken in my hearing, I have heard the voice of your words, saying,
‘Estou inocente. Sou um homem limpo e sem pecado; estou puro e sem culpa.
Yo soy limpio y sin defecto; y soy inocente, y no hay maldad en mí.
I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.
‘I am clean, without disobedience. I am innocent, neither is there iniquity in me.
Deus passou a minha vida numa peneira fina até encontrar algum pequeno erro e me acusar como seu inimigo.
He aquí que él buscó achaques contra mí, y me tiene por su enemigo;
Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,
Behold, he finds occasions against me. He counts me for his enemy.
Ele prendeu os meus pés com correntes e examinou cuidadosamente todos os meus atos’.
Puso mis pies en el cepo, y guardó todas mis sendas.
He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.

“Mas eu lhe digo que você já estava pecando, porque não quis admitir que Deus é maior do que o homem.
He aquí en esto no has hablado justamente: yo te responderé que mayor es Dios que el hombre.
Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.
“Behold, I will answer you. In this you are not just, for God is greater than man.
E por que você se queixa de Deus dizendo que ele não responde às palavras dos homens?
¿Por qué tomaste pleito contra él? Porque él no da cuenta de ninguna de sus razones.
Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.
Why do you strive against him, because he doesn’t give account of any of his matters?
“Além do mais, Deus se revela ao homem, de um modo ou de outro, mesmo que você não tenha percebido isso.
Sin embargo, en una ó en dos maneras habla Dios; mas el hombre no entiende.
For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
For God speaks once, yes twice, though man pays no attention.
Ele se revela em sonhos e visões durante a noite, quando os homens estão dormindo profundamente em suas camas.
Por sueño de visión nocturna, cuando el sueño cae sobre los hombres, cuando se adormecen sobre el lecho;
In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

Nessas horas, Deus faz o homem ouvir seus ensinos e o aterroriza com advertências,
Entonces revela al oído de los hombres, y les señala su consejo;
Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,

para mudar as ideias erradas do homem, para livrar o homem do orgulho e das suas más ações,
Para quitar al hombre de su obra, y apartar del varón la soberbia.

“Além disso, Deus pode castigar o homem com doenças e seus ossos podem estar em constante dor,
También sobre su cama es castigado con dolor fuerte en todos sus huesos,
He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:
“He is chastened also with pain on his bed, with continual strife in his bones,
a ponto de o homem perder completamente a vontade de comer, por mais gostosa que seja a comida.
Que le hace que su vida aborrezca el pan, y su alma la comida suave.
So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.

Ele vai emagrecendo até restar apenas pele e osso.
Su carne desfallece sin verse, y sus huesos, que antes no se veían, aparecen.

“Mas, se houver um anjo para cuidar dele, um entre mil dos anjos de Deus, e pedir em favor e lhe ensinar o que é certo,
Si tuviera cerca de él algún elocuente anunciador muy escogido, que anuncie al hombre su deber;
If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:
“If there is beside him an angel, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to show to man what is right for him,
e disser a Deus: ‘Salve esse homem; não o deixe ir ao mundo dos mortos. Aqui está o resgate pelo seu pecado’,
Que le diga que Dios tuvo de él misericordia, que lo libró de descender al sepulcro, que halló redención:
Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
then God is gracious to him, and says, ‘Deliver him from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom.’
então, o corpo desse homem se tornará saudável como o de um bebê e ele ficará forte como um jovem.
Enterneceráse su carne más que de niño, volverá á los días de su mocedad.
His flesh shall be fresher than a child’s: he shall return to the days of his youth:
His flesh will be fresher than a child’s. He returns to the days of his youth.
Ele fará orações sinceras a Deus e receberá respostas; viverá feliz na presença de Deus e será considerado justo.
Orará á Dios, y le amará, y verá su faz con júbilo: y él restituirá al hombre su justicia.
He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.
He prays to God, and he is favorable to him, so that he sees his face with joy. He restores to man his righteousness.
Depois, ele dirá a todos: ‘Eu pequei, cometi injustiças, mas ele me perdoou.
El mira sobre los hombres; y el que dijere: Pequé, y pervertí lo recto, y no me ha aprovechado;
He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;
He sings before men, and says, ‘I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it didn’t profit me.
Deus me livrou do castigo merecido, impedindo que eu descesse à cova, e viverei para desfrutar dos caminhos da luz’.
Dios redimirá su alma, que no pase al sepulcro, y su vida se verá en luz.
He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.
He has redeemed my soul from going into the pit. My life will see the light.’
“Sim, Deus faz essas coisas acontecerem na vida do homem, em alguns casos, duas ou três vezes,
He aquí, todas estas cosas hace Dios dos y tres veces con el hombre;
Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,
“Behold, God does all these things, twice, yes three times, with a man,
para livrar esse homem da morte e fazer brilhar sobre ele a luz da vida.
Para apartar su alma del sepulcro, y para iluminarlo con la luz de los vivientes.
To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.
to bring back his soul from the pit, that he may be enlightened with the light of the living.
“Ouça com atenção, Jó! Não diga nada por enquanto; deixe-me falar.
Escucha, Job, y óyeme; calla, y yo hablaré.
Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.
Mark well, Job, and listen to me. Hold your peace, and I will speak.
Fale apenas se tiver uma resposta séria. Isso eu quero ouvir porque a minha vontade é que você seja absolvido.
Que si tuvieres razones, respóndeme: habla, porque yo te quiero justificar.
If thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.
If you have anything to say, answer me. Speak, for I desire to justify you.
Se você não tem nada a dizer, ouça-me e fique em silêncio, vou continuar a lhe mostrar o que é a verdadeira sabedoria”.
Y si no, óyeme tú á mí; calla, y enseñarte he sabiduría.
If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.
