Oye, pues, oh Job, mis palabras, y está atento a todas mis palabras.
POR tanto, Job, oye ahora mis razones, y escucha todas mis palabras.
Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.
“However, Job, please hear my speech, and listen to all my words.
He aquí que abro mi boca; formará la lengua palabras en mi garganta.
He aquí yo abriré ahora mi boca, y mi lengua hablará en mi garganta.
Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.
See now, I have opened my mouth. My tongue has spoken in my mouth.
Mis discursos saldrán de un corazón sencillo, y mis labios proferirán sentimientos de verdad.
Mis razones declararán la rectitud de mi corazón, y mis labios proferirán pura sabiduría.
My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.
My words will utter the uprightness of my heart. That which my lips know they will speak sincerely.
El espíritu de Dios me creó, y el soplo del Omnipotente me dio la vida.
El espíritu de Dios me hizo, y la inspiración del Omnipotente me dió vida.
The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
Respóndeme, pues, si puedes; y opón tus razones a las mías.
Si pudieres, respóndeme; dispón tus palabras, está delante de mí.
If thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up.
If you can, answer me. Set your words in order before me, and stand up.
Bien sabes que Dios me creó a mí así como a ti, y que fui yo formado del mismo barro que tú;
Heme aquí á mí en lugar de Dios, conforme á tu dicho: de lodo soy yo también formado.
Behold, I am according to thy wish in God’s stead: I also am formed out of the clay.
Behold, I am toward God even as you are. I am also formed out of the clay.
y así que no verás en mí cosa maravillosa que te espante; ni te será molesta mi elocuen-cia.
He aquí que mi terror no te espantará, ni mi mano se agravará sobre ti.
Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.
Behold, my terror will not make you afraid, neither will my pressure be heavy on you.
Ahora bien, tú has dicho oyéndolo yo, y yo mismo percibí estas palabras tuyas:
De cierto tú dijiste á oídos míos, y yo oí la voz de tus palabras que decían:
Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,
“Surely you have spoken in my hearing, I have heard the voice of your words, saying,
Yo soy limpio, y sin culpa; inocente, y no hay en mí iniquidad.
Yo soy limpio y sin defecto; y soy inocente, y no hay maldad en mí.
I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.
‘I am clean, without disobedience. I am innocent, neither is there iniquity in me.
Pero porque ha hallado pretexto contra mí, por eso me ha mirado como a enemigo suyo.
He aquí que él buscó achaques contra mí, y me tiene por su enemigo;
Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,
Behold, he finds occasions against me. He counts me for his enemy.
Ha puesto mis pies en un cepo, y estuvo observando todos mis pasos.
Puso mis pies en el cepo, y guardó todas mis sendas.
He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.
He puts my feet in the stocks. He marks all my paths.’
En esto, oh Job, no te has mostrado justo; yo te responderé que Dios es mayor que el hombre.
He aquí en esto no has hablado justamente: yo te responderé que mayor es Dios que el hombre.
Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.
“Behold, I will answer you. In this you are not just, for God is greater than man.
¿Y quieres tú entrar en contienda con él, porque no ha respondido a todas tus palabras?
¿Por qué tomaste pleito contra él? Porque él no da cuenta de ninguna de sus razones.
Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.
Why do you strive against him, because he doesn’t give account of any of his matters?
Dios habla una vez, y no vuelve a repetir una misma cosa.
Sin embargo, en una ó en dos maneras habla Dios; mas el hombre no entiende.
For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
For God speaks once, yes twice, though man pays no attention.
Entre sueños, con visiones nocturnas, cuando los hombres rendidos del sueño están descansando en sus camas,
Por sueño de visión nocturna, cuando el sueño cae sobre los hombres, cuando se adormecen sobre el lecho;
In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;
In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, in slumbering on the bed,
entonces les abre Dios los oídos, y los instruye y corrige,
Entonces revela al oído de los hombres, y les señala su consejo;
Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,
then he opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction,
para retraer a cada uno del mal que hace, y librarle de la soberbia,
Para quitar al hombre de su obra, y apartar del varón la soberbia.
That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.

salvando su alma de la corrupción y su vida del filo de la espada.
Detendrá su alma de corrupción, y su vida de que pase á cuchillo.
He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.

Asimismo le corrige con dolores en el lecho, y hace que se le sequen todos sus huesos.
También sobre su cama es castigado con dolor fuerte en todos sus huesos,
He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:
“He is chastened also with pain on his bed, with continual strife in his bones,
En tal estado le causa horror el mismo pan o alimento, y el manjar antes sabroso a su apetito.
Que le hace que su vida aborrezca el pan, y su alma la comida suave.
So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.
so that his life abhors bread, and his soul dainty food.
Se va consumiendo su carne; y los huesos, antes bien cubiertos, aparecen desnudos.
Su carne desfallece sin verse, y sus huesos, que antes no se veían, aparecen.
His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.

Está él para expirar, y desahuciada su vida.
Y su alma se acerca al sepulcro, y su vida á los que causan la muerte.
Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.
Yes, his soul draws near to the pit, and his life to the destroyers.
Si entonces algún ángel escogido entre millares instruye a este hombre, y le hace conocer sus obligaciones,
Si tuviera cerca de él algún elocuente anunciador muy escogido, que anuncie al hombre su deber;
If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:
“If there is beside him an angel, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to show to man what is right for him,
Dios se apiadará de él y dirá: Líbralo, para que no descienda a la corrupción del sepulcro; he hallado motivo para perdonarle.
Que le diga que Dios tuvo de él misericordia, que lo libró de descender al sepulcro, que halló redención:
Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
then God is gracious to him, and says, ‘Deliver him from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom.’
Su carne ha sido consumida con las penas; que vuelva como estaba en los días de su mocedad.
Enterneceráse su carne más que de niño, volverá á los días de su mocedad.
His flesh shall be fresher than a child’s: he shall return to the days of his youth:
His flesh will be fresher than a child’s. He returns to the days of his youth.
Implorará el hombre la misericordia de Dios; el cual se aplacará, y le mirará con su rostro alegre, y le restituirá su justicia.
Orará á Dios, y le amará, y verá su faz con júbilo: y él restituirá al hombre su justicia.
He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.
He prays to God, and he is favorable to him, so that he sees his face with joy. He restores to man his righteousness.
El, vuelto a los demás hombres, dirá: Pequé, y verdaderamente fui prevaricador, y no fui castigado según merecía.
El mira sobre los hombres; y el que dijere: Pequé, y pervertí lo recto, y no me ha aprovechado;
He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;
He sings before men, and says, ‘I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it didn’t profit me.
Con eso salvó su alma de caer en la muerte, y vivirá, y gozará de la luz.
Dios redimirá su alma, que no pase al sepulcro, y su vida se verá en luz.
He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.
He has redeemed my soul from going into the pit. My life will see the light.’
Así es que Dios obra todas estas cosas tres y más veces con cada uno,
He aquí, todas estas cosas hace Dios dos y tres veces con el hombre;
Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,
“Behold, God does all these things, twice, yes three times, with a man,
para retirar sus almas de la corrupción del pecado, y alumbrarlas con la luz de los vivientes.
Para apartar su alma del sepulcro, y para iluminarlo con la luz de los vivientes.
To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.
to bring back his soul from the pit, that he may be enlightened with the light of the living.
Atiende, oh Job, y escúchame, y calla mientras yo hablo;
Escucha, Job, y óyeme; calla, y yo hablaré.
Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.
Mark well, Job, and listen to me. Hold your peace, and I will speak.
que si tienes algo que replicar, propónmelo, dilo libremente; pues yo deseo que aparezcas justo.
Que si tuvieres razones, respóndeme: habla, porque yo te quiero justificar.
If thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.
If you have anything to say, answer me. Speak, for I desire to justify you.
Mas si nada tienes que responder, escúchame, guarda silencio, y aprenderás de mí la sabiduría.
Y si no, óyeme tú á mí; calla, y enseñarte he sabiduría.
If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.
If not, listen to me. Hold your peace, and I will teach you wisdom.”
