Job 34

Et Elihou, continuant dit :

ADEMÁS respondió Eliú, y dijo:

Furthermore Elihu answered and said,

Moreover Elihu answered,

Ecoutez-moi, sages et savants ; prêtez-moi une oreille attentive,

Oid, sabios, mis palabras; y vosotros, doctos, estadme atentos.

Hear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.

“Hear my words, you wise men. Give ear to me, you who have knowledge.

Car l'oreille juge les paroles, comme le gosier goûte les aliments.

Porque el oído prueba las palabras, como el paladar gusta para comer.

For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.

For the ear tries words, as the palate tastes food.

Servons-nous en pour décider ; discernons entre elles ce qui est bon.

Escojamos para nosotros el juicio, conozcamos entre nosotros cuál sea lo bueno:

Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.

Let us choose for us that which is right. Let us know among ourselves what is good.

Job a dit : Je suis juste, le Seigneur m'a exclu du jugement ;

Porque Job ha dicho: Yo soy justo, y Dios me ha quitado mi derecho.

For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.

For Job has said, ‘I am righteous, God has taken away my right.

Il m'a rendu suspect par son arrêt ; le trait a été violent, sans que j'eusse commis d'iniquité.

¿He de mentir yo contra mi razón? Mi saeta es gravosa sin haber yo prevaricado.

Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression.

Notwithstanding my right I am considered a liar. My wound is incurable, though I am without disobedience.’

Quel est l'homme qu'autant que Job on ait abreuvé de railleries, comme on abreuve d'eau ?

¿Qué hombre hay como Job, que bebe el escarnio como agua?

What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?

What man is like Job, who drinks scorn like water,

Et je n'ai point péché, je n'ai rien fait contre Dieu ; je n'ai rien de commun avec les méchants ; je n'ai point marché avec les impies.

Y va en compañía con los que obran iniquidad, y anda con los hombres maliciosos.

Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.

who goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men?

Ne tiens pas ce langage, car ce qui échappe à la surveillance de l'homme n'échappe pas à celle de Dieu ;

Porque ha dicho: De nada servirá al hombre el conformar su voluntad con Dios.

For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.

For he has said, ‘It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.’

C'est pourquoi, vous qui m'êtes unis par le cœur, soyez attentifs ; puissé-je n'être point impie devant le Seigneur, et satisfaire à ce qui est juste devant le Tout-Puissant.

Por tanto, varones de seso, oidme: Lejos esté de Dios la impiedad, y del Omnipotente la iniquidad.

Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.

“Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.

Qu'il rétribue chacun selon ses œuvres, et il saura bien trouver un homme sur sa voie.

Porque él pagará al hombre según su obra, y él le hará hallar conforme á su camino.

For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.

For the work of a man he will give to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.

Penses-tu Job, que le Seigneur fasse des choses vaines ? Le Tout-Puissant fausse-t-il la justice, lui qui a créé la terre ?

Sí, por cierto, Dios no hará injusticia, y el Omnipotente no pervertirá el derecho.

Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.

Yes surely, God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert justice.

Qui donc a fait l'étendue que le ciel recouvre et tout ce qui l'habite ?

¿Quién visitó por él la tierra? ¿y quién puso en orden todo el mundo?

Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world?

Who put him in charge of the earth? Or who has appointed him over the whole world?

S'il lui plaisait de s'abstenir, de retenir son souffle,

Si él pusiese sobre el hombre su corazón, y recogiese así su espíritu y su aliento,

If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;

If he set his heart on himself, if he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath,

Toute chair au même instant périrait ; tout homme retournerait à la terre dont il a été formé.

Toda carne perecería juntamente, y el hombre se tornaría en polvo.

All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.

all flesh would perish together, and man would turn again to dust.

S'il ne t'a pas averti, écoute ce que je vais te dire, que tes oreilles le recueillent.

Si pues hay en ti entendimiento, oye esto: escucha la voz de mis palabras.

If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.

“If now you have understanding, hear this. Listen to the voice of my words.

Considère toi-même celui qui hait les pervers, celui qui extermine les méchants, celui qui est éternellement juste.

¿Enseñorearáse el que aborrece juicio? ¿y condenarás tú al que es tan justo?

Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just?

Should even one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn him who is righteous and mighty,

Celui qui ne craint pas d'appeler un roi impie ; ni de dire aux grands : vous êtes corrompus, vous vivez dans le péché.

¿Hase de decir al rey: Perverso; y á los príncipes: Impíos?

Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked? and to princes, Ye are ungodly?

who says to a king, ‘Vile!’ or to nobles, ‘Wicked!’?

Celui qui n'a aucun égard pour le rang ; qui ne sait point honorer la force ni lui rendre des respects.

¿Cuánto menos á aquel que no hace acepción de personas de príncipes, ni el rico es de él más respetado que el pobre? porque todos son obras de sus manos.

How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.

He doesn’t respect the persons of princes, nor respect the rich more than the poor, for they all are the work of his hands.

A prier un homme qui pratique l'iniquité, qui méconnaît les pauvres, on n'obtiendra que des choses vaines.

En un momento morirán, y á media noche se alborotarán los pueblos, y pasarán, y sin mano será quitado el poderoso.

In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.

In a moment they die, even at midnight. The people are shaken and pass away. The mighty are taken away without a hand.

Mais Dieu voit les œuvres des mortels ; rien de ce qu'ils font ne lui est caché.

Porque sus ojos están sobre los caminos del hombre, y ve todos sus pasos.

For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.

“For his eyes are on the ways of a man. He sees all his goings.

Il n'est point de lieu où les pervers puissent se soustraire à ses regards.

No hay tinieblas ni sombra de muerte donde se encubran los que obran maldad.

There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

There is no darkness, nor thick gloom, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

Il ne s'y prend pas à deux fois pour juger un homme.

No carga pues él al hombre más de lo justo, para que vaya con Dios á juicio.

For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God.

For he doesn’t need to consider a man further, that he should go before God in judgment.

Le Seigneur surveille tout ; il est l'auteur d'une multitude de merveilles incompréhensibles et glorieuses.

El quebrantará á los fuertes sin pesquisa, y hará estar otros en su lugar.

He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.

He breaks mighty men in pieces in ways past finding out, and sets others in their place.

Il connaît les travaux des humains, sur eux il ramènera la nuit et ils seront humiliés.

Por tanto él hará notorias las obras de ellos, cuando los trastornará en la noche, y serán quebrantados.

Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed.

Therefore he takes knowledge of their works. He overturns them in the night, so that they are destroyed.

Il a éteint les impies ; il ne lui est point échappé

Como á malos los herirá en lugar donde sean vistos:

He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;

He strikes them as wicked men in the open sight of others;

Qu'ils s'étaient écartés de la loi de Dieu, et qu'ils avaient méconnu ses préceptes.

Por cuanto así se apartaron de él, y no consideraron todos sus caminos;

Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:

because they turned away from following him, and wouldn’t pay attention to any of his ways,

Ils avaient contraint les pauvres de l'invoquer, et il exaucera toujours les indigents.

Haciendo venir delante de él el clamor del pobre, y que oiga el clamor de los necesitados.

So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.

so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him. He heard the cry of the afflicted.

Seul il donne la paix, et qui donc fera condamner celui à qui il l'accorde ? S'il cache son front, qui le verra ? Il juge les nations comme les individus.

Y si él diere reposo, ¿quién inquietará? si escondiere el rostro, ¿quién lo mirará? Esto sobre una nación, y lo mismo sobre un hombre;

When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:

When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? He is over a nation or a man alike,

Il place sur le trône un roi hypocrite, à cause des caprices du peuple.

Haciendo que no reine el hombre hipócrita para vejaciones del pueblo.

That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.

that the godless man may not reign, that there be no one to ensnare the people.

Il en est qui disent au Tout-Puissant : Si j'ai pris, je ne retiendrai rien en gage.

De seguro conviene se diga á Dios: Llevado he ya castigo, no más ofenderé:

Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:

“For has any said to God, ‘I am guilty, but I will not offend any more.

Je ne puis voir par moi-même ; faites-moi connaître si j'ai commis quelque iniquité, et je ne recommencerai pas.

Enséñame tú lo que yo no veo: que si hice mal, no lo haré más.

That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.

Teach me that which I don’t see. If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more’?

Est-il juste que vous m'en punissiez ; ne deviez-vous pas la prévenir ; n'est-ce pas vous qui choisissez et non moi ? Ce que vous savez, déclarez-le.

¿Ha de ser eso según tu mente? El te retribuirá, ora rehuses, ora aceptes, y no yo: di si no, lo que tú sabes.

Should it be according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest.

Shall his recompense be as you desire, that you refuse it? For you must choose, and not I. Therefore speak what you know.

S'il est vrai que des cœurs intelligents peuvent parler en ces termes, d'autre part c'est à un homme sage que je parle, et il m'écoute.

Los hombres de seso dirán conmigo, y el hombre sabio me oirá:

Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me.

Men of understanding will tell me, yes, every wise man who hears me:

Job n'a point raisonné en homme habile, ses discours ne montrent pas de savoir.

Que Job no habla con sabiduría, y que sus palabras no son con entendimiento.

Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.

‘Job speaks without knowledge. His words are without wisdom.’

O Job, réfléchis donc ; ne réponds pas derechef à la manière des insensés.

Deseo yo que Job sea probado ampliamente, á causa de sus respuestas por los hombres inicuos.

My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men.

I wish that Job were tried to the end, because of his answering like wicked men.

De peur que nous n'ajoutions pas à nos fautes ; car il nous sera imputé à péché de nous étendre en longs discours devant le Seigneur.

Porque á su pecado añadió impiedad: bate las manos entre nosotros, y contra Dios multiplica sus palabras.

For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.

For he adds rebellion to his sin. He claps his hands among us, and multiplies his words against God.”
