Aguántame todavía un poco, y me explicaré contigo; porque tengo aún que hablar en defensa de Dios.
Espérame un poco, y enseñarte he; porque todavía tengo razones en orden á Dios.
Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God’s behalf.
“Bear with me a little, and I will show you; for I still have something to say on God’s behalf.
Sacaré mi conclusión de sus principios, probando que mi Creador es justo,
Tomaré mi noticia de lejos, y atribuiré justicia á mi Hacedor.
I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

supuesto que mis palabras son ajenas de toda falsedad, y que te haré ver que mi doctrina es sólida.
Porque de cierto no son mentira mis palabras; contigo está el que es íntegro en sus conceptos.
For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.
For truly my words are not false. One who is perfect in knowledge is with you.
Dios no desecha a los poderosos, siendo también él mismo, como es, poderoso;
He aquí que Dios es grande, mas no desestima á nadie: es poderoso en fuerza de sabiduría.
Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.
“Behold, God is mighty, and doesn’t despise anyone. He is mighty in strength of understanding.
mas no salva a los impíos, y hace siempre justicia a los pobres.
No otorgará vida al impío, y á los afligidos dará su derecho.
He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.

No apartará nunca su vista del justo; él es quien coloca sobre firme trono a los reyes, y por él son ensalzados.
No quitará sus ojos del justo; antes bien con los reyes los pondrá en solio para siempre, y serán ensalzados.
He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.

Que si se vieren encadenados y aprisionados con cordeles de pobreza,
Y si estuvieren prendidos en grillos, y aprisionados en las cuerdas de aflicción,
And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;
If they are bound in fetters, and are taken in the cords of afflictions,
les reconvendrá con sus obras y maldades, pues ejecutaron violencias.
El les dará á conocer la obra de ellos, y que prevalecieron sus rebeliones.
Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.

Así mismo les abrirá los oídos, para corregirlos con fruto, y los amonestará para que se arrepientan de su iniquidad.

He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.

Si obedecieren y fueren dóciles, acabarán sus días felizmente, y sus años con gloria;
Si oyeren, y le sirvieren, acabarán sus días en bien, y sus años en deleites.
If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
If they listen and serve him, they will spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
mas si no escuchasen, serán pasados a cuchillo, y perecerán en su necedad.
Mas si no oyeren, serán pasados á cuchillo, y perecerán sin sabiduría.
But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

Los hipócritas y de corazón doble provocan la ira de Dios, y no reclamarán a él sinceramente cuando se vean aprisionados.
Empero los hipócritas de corazón lo irritarán más, y no clamarán cuando él los atare.
But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.
“But those who are godless in heart lay up anger. They don’t cry for help when he binds them.
Morirán de muerte violenta, y acabarán su vida entre hombres afeminados y sodomíticos.
Fallecerá el alma de ellos en su mocedad, y su vida entre los sodomitas.
They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.
They die in youth. Their life perishes among the unclean.
Al contrario al pobre le libertará Dios de su angustia, y en la tribulación le hablará al oído.
Al pobre librará de su pobreza, y en la aflicción despertará su oído.
He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.
He delivers the afflicted by their affliction, and opens their ear in oppression.
Así que, oh Job, te salvará del abismo estrecho e insondable de miserias; y volverás a sentarte en tu opípara mesa.
Asimismo te apartaría de la boca de la angustia á lugar espacioso, libre de todo apuro; y te asentará mesa llena de grosura.
Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.
Yes, he would have allured you out of distress, into a wide place, where there is no restriction. That which is set on your table would be full of fatness.
Tu causa está juzgada ya como causa de un impío; has de recibir la ejecución de la sentencia.
Mas tú has llenado el juicio del impío, en vez de sustentar el juicio y la justicia.
But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.
“But you are full of the judgment of the wicked. Judgment and justice take hold of you.
No te dejes vencer más de la cólera, para oprimir a nadie, ni en adelante te doblen los muchos dones.
Por lo cual teme que en su ira no te quite con golpe, el cual no puedas apartar de ti con gran rescate.
Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.
Don’t let riches entice you to wrath, neither let the great size of a bribe turn you aside.
Depón tu orgullo sin que sea necesaria la tribulación, y reprime a todos los que se hacen fuertes por la prepotencia.
¿Hará él estima de tus riquezas, ni del oro, ni de todas las fuerzas del poder?
Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.
Would your wealth sustain you in distress, or all the might of your strength?
No alargues la noche; a fin de que los pueblos puedan acudir a ti para sus negocios.
No anheles la noche, en que desaparecen los pueblos de su lugar.
Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.
Don’t desire the night, when people are cut off in their place.
Guárdate de declinar hacia la iniquidad; pues has comenzado a seguir esa mala vida después de la miseria en que te ves.
Guárdate, no tornes á la iniquidad; pues ésta escogiste más bien que la aflicción.
Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.
Take heed, don’t regard iniquity; for you have chosen this rather than affliction.
Mira que Dios es soberano en su fortaleza, y ninguno de los legisladores es semejante a él.
He aquí que Dios es excelso con su potencia: ¿qué enseñador semejante á él?
Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?
Behold, God is exalted in his power. Who is a teacher like him?
¿Quién podrá rastrear sus caminos? O ¿quién puede decirle: Has hecho una injusticia?
¿Quién le ha prescrito su camino? ¿y quién le dirá: Iniquidad has hecho?
Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?
Who has prescribed his way for him? Or who can say, ‘You have committed unrighteousness’?
Reflexiona que tú no llegas a comprender la obra suya que fue celebrada en sus cánticos por los varones más insignes.
Acuérdate de engrandecer su obra, la cual contemplan los hombres.
Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.
“Remember that you magnify his work, about which men have sung.
Todos los hombres lo ven en sus criaturas, cada cual le contempla como desde lejos.
Los hombres todos la ven; mírala el hombre de lejos.
Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.
All men have looked on it. Man sees it afar off.
¡Oh, y cuán grande es Dios, y cuánto sobrepuja a nuestra ciencia! Incontable es el número de sus años.
He aquí, Dios es grande, y nosotros no le conocemos; ni se puede rastrear el número de sus años.
Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.
Behold, God is great, and we don’t know him. The number of his years is unsearchable.
El atrae las gotitas de agua, derramando después las lluvias, a manera de torrentes,
El reduce las gotas de las aguas, al derramarse la lluvia según el vapor;
For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:
For he draws up the drops of water, which distill in rain from his vapor,
que se desgajan de las nubes, de que está cubierta toda la región de arriba.
Las cuales destilan las nubes, goteando en abundancia sobre los hombres.
Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.
which the skies pour down and which drop on man abundantly.
Cuando él quiere extiende las nubes a manera de pabellón,
¿Quién podrá tampoco comprender la extensión de las nubes, y el sonido estrepitoso de su pabellón?
Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?
Indeed, can anyone understand the spreading of the clouds and the thunderings of his pavilion?
y relampaguea con sus rayos desde lo alto, oscureciendo todo de mar a mar.
He aquí que sobre él extiende su luz, y cobija con ella las raíces de la mar.
Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.
Behold, he spreads his light around him. He covers the bottom of the sea.
Como que por estos medios castiga y ejerce sus juicios sobre los pueblos, y provee de alimento al gran número de los mortales.
Bien que por esos medios castiga á los pueblos, á la multitud da comida.
For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.
For by these he judges the people. He gives food in abundance.
El esconde la luz como en sus manos, y después manda que salga de nuevo.
Con las nubes encubre la luz, y mándale no brillar, interponiendo aquéllas.
With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.
He covers his hands with the lightning, and commands it to strike the mark.
A quien él ama, le declara cómo esta luz es posesión suya, y que puede subir a ella y poseerla.
Tocante á ella anunciará el trueno, su compañero, que hay acumulación de ira sobre el que se eleva.
The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.
Its noise tells about him, and the livestock also, concerning the storm that comes up.
