Entonces, abriendo su boca y maldiciendo el día de su nacimiento,
DESPUÉS de esto abrió Job su boca, y maldijo su día.
After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.

Perezca el día de mi nacimiento y la noche en que se dijo: Un niño es concebido.

Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.
“Let the day perish in which I was born, the night which said, ‘There is a boy conceived.’
Que ese día, hubiera sido oscuro; y Dios no hubiera tomado nota de esto desde lo alto, y no hubiera resplandecido la luz del día;
Sea aquel día sombrío, y Dios no cuide de él desde arriba, ni claridad sobre él resplandezca.
Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.
Let that day be darkness. Don’t let God from above seek for it, neither let the light shine on it.
Deja que la oscuridad y la noche negra sea su redentor; deja que se cubra con una nube; Deja que las sombras oscuras del día te envíen miedo.
Aféenlo tinieblas y sombra de muerte; repose sobre él nublado, que lo haga horrible como caliginoso día.
Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.
Let darkness and the shadow of death claim it for their own. Let a cloud dwell on it. Let all that makes the day black terrify it.
En cuanto a esa noche que la oscuridad espesa la tome; Que no tenga gozo entre los días del año; Que no venga en el número de los meses.
Ocupe la oscuridad aquella noche; no sea contada entre los días del año, ni venga en el número de los meses.
As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.
As for that night, let thick darkness seize on it. Let it not rejoice among the days of the year. Let it not come into the number of the months.
En cuanto a esa noche, que hubiera sido estéril; Que ninguna voz de alegría hubiera sonado en ella;
¡Oh si fuere aquella noche solitaria, que no viniera canción alguna en ella!
Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.
Behold, let that night be barren. Let no joyful voice come therein.
Que la maldigan los que ponen una maldición en el día; que están listos para despertar a Leviatán.
Maldíganla los que maldicen al día, los que se aprestan para levantar su llanto.
Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.

Sean oscuras sus estrellas de la mañana; Que esté buscando luz, pero que no la tenga; Que no vea los rayos del alba.
Oscurézcanse las estrellas de su alba; espere la luz, y no venga, ni vea los párpados de la mañana:
Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:

Porque no cerró las puertas del vientre de mi madre, ni oculto los problemas de mis ojos.
Por cuanto no cerró las puertas del vientre donde yo estaba, ni escondió de mis ojos la miseria.
Because it shut not up the doors of my mother’s womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.

¿Por qué la muerte no me tomó cuando salí del cuerpo de mi madre, por qué no, cuando salí del vientre, entregue mi espíritu?
¿Por qué no morí yo desde la matriz, o fuí traspasado en saliendo del vientre?
Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?
“Why didn’t I die from the womb? Why didn’t I give up the spirit when my mother bore me?
¿Por qué hubo rodillas que me recibieron o por qué los pechos para que me den leche?
¿Por qué me previnieron las rodillas? ¿y para qué las tetas que mamase?
Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?
Why did the knees receive me? Or why the breast, that I should nurse?
Porque entonces podría haber ido a mi descanso en silencio, y en el sueño, haber estado en paz,
Pues que ahora yaciera yo, y reposara; durmiera, y entonces tuviera reposo,
For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,

Con los reyes y los sabios de la tierra, que edificaron grandes casas para sí mismos;
Con los reyes y con los consejeros de la tierra, que edifican para sí los desiertos;
With kings and counsellors of the earth, which built desolate places for themselves;

O con los gobernantes que tenían oro, y cuyas casas estaban llenas de plata;

Allí dejan de perturbar los malvados, y aquellos cuyas fuerzas han llegado a su fin tienen descanso.

¿Por qué le da luz al que está en problemas, y la vida al alma amarga;

Para aquellos cuyo deseo es la muerte, pero no viene; que la buscan más que la riqueza secreta;

En lugar de mi comida tengo pena, y de mí salen gritos de dolor como agua.
Pues antes que mi pan viene mi suspiro; y mis gemidos corren como aguas.
For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.

Porque lo que estaba temiendo ha venido sobre mi y de lo cual tengo miedo me aconteció.
Porque el temor que me espantaba me ha venido, y hame acontecido lo que temía.
For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.
For the thing which I fear comes on me, that which I am afraid of comes to me.
No tengo paz, ni silencio, ni descanso; nada más que el dolor viene sobre mí.
No he tenido paz, no me aseguré, ni me estuve reposado; vínome no obstante turbación.
I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.
I am not at ease, neither am I quiet, neither do I have rest; but trouble comes.”
