***Après cela, Job ouvrit sa bouche et maudit son jour.

DESPUÉS de esto abrió Job su boca, y maldijo su día.

After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.

After this Job opened his mouth, and cursed the day of his birth.

Et Job prit la parole et dit :

Y exclamó Job, y dijo:

And Job spake, and said,

Job answered:

Périsse le jour auquel je naquis, et la nuit qui dit : Un homme a été conçu !

Perezca el día en que yo nací, y la noche que se dijo: Varón es concebido.

Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.

“Let the day perish in which I was born, the night which said, ‘There is a boy conceived.’

Ce jour-là, qu’il soit ténèbres ; que ✝Dieu ne s’en enquière pas d’en haut, et que la lumière ne resplendisse pas sur lui !

Sea aquel día sombrío, y Dios no cuide de él desde arriba, ni claridad sobre él resplandezca.

Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.

Que les ténèbres et l’ombre de la mort le réclament ; que les nuées demeurent sur lui ; que ce qui assombrit les jours le terrifie !

Aféenlo tinieblas y sombra de muerte; repose sobre él nublado, que lo haga horrible como caliginoso día.

Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

Cette nuit-là, que l’obscurité s’en empare ; qu’elle ne se réjouisse point parmi les jours de l’année, qu’elle n’entre pas dans le nombre des mois !

Ocupe la oscuridad aquella noche; no sea contada entre los días del año, ni venga en el número de los meses.

As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.

Voici, que cette nuit-là soit stérile ; que les cris de joie n’y entrent pas !

¡Oh si fuere aquella noche solitaria, que no viniera canción alguna en ella!

Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.

Behold, let that night be barren. Let no joyful voice come therein.

Que ceux qui maudissent le jour la maudissent, ceux qui sont prêts à réveiller Léviathan !

Maldíganla los que maldicen al día, los que se aprestan para levantar su llanto.

Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.

Que les étoiles de son crépuscule soient obscurcies ; qu’elle attende la lumière, et qu’il n’y en ait point, et qu’elle ne voie pas les cils de l’aurore !

Oscurézcanse las estrellas de su alba; espere la luz, y no venga, ni vea los párpados de la mañana:

Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:

Parce qu’elle n’a pas fermé les portes du sein qui m’a porté, et n’a pas caché la misère de devant mes yeux.

Por cuanto no cerró las puertas del vientre donde yo estaba, ni escondió de mis ojos la miseria.

Because it shut not up the doors of my mother’s womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.

Pourquoi ne suis-je pas mort dès la matrice, n’ai-je pas expiré quand je sortis du ventre ?

¿Por qué no morí yo desde la matriz, o fuí traspasado en saliendo del vientre?

Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?

“Why didn’t I die from the womb? Why didn’t I give up the spirit when my mother bore me?

Pourquoi les genoux m’ont-ils rencontré, et pourquoi les mamelles, pour les téter ?

¿Por qué me previnieron las rodillas? ¿y para qué las tetas que mamase?

Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?

Why did the knees receive me? Or why the breast, that I should nurse?

Car maintenant je serais couché et je serais tranquille, je dormirais : alors j’aurais du repos,

Pues que ahora yaciera yo, y reposara; durmiera, y entonces tuviera reposo,

For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,

For now I should have lain down and been quiet. I should have slept, then I would have been at rest,

Avec les rois et les conseillers de la terre qui se bâtissent des solitudes,

Con los reyes y con los consejeros de la tierra, que edifican para sí los desiertos;

With kings and counsellors of the earth, which built desolate places for themselves;

Ou avec les princes qui ont de l’or, qui ont rempli d’argent leurs maisons ;

O con los príncipes que poseían el oro, que henchían sus casas de plata.

Là, les méchants ont cessé leur tumulte, et là ceux dont les forces sont épuisées par la fatigue sont en repos ;

Pourquoi la lumière est-elle donnée au misérable, et la vie à ceux qui ont l’amertume dans l’âme,

Car mon gémissement vient avant mon pain, et mes rugissements débordent comme des eaux.

Pues antes que mi pan viene mi suspiro; y mis gemidos corren como aguas.

For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.

For my sighing comes before I eat. My groanings are poured out like water.

Car j’ai eu une crainte, et elle est venue sur moi, et ce que j’appréhendais m’est arrivé.

Porque el temor que me espantaba me ha venido, y hame acontecido lo que temía.

For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

For the thing which I fear comes on me, that which I am afraid of comes to me.

Je n’étais pas en sécurité, et je n’étais pas tranquille ni en repos, et le trouble est venu.

No he tenido paz, no me aseguré, ni me estuve reposado; vínome no obstante turbación.

I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.

I am not at ease, neither am I quiet, neither do I have rest; but trouble comes.”
