Danach tat Hiob seinen Mund auf und verfluchte seinen Tag.

DESPUÉS de esto abrió Job su boca, y maldijo su día.

After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.

Und Hiob hob an und sprach:

Y exclamó Job, y dijo:

Es verschwinde der Tag, an dem ich geboren wurde, und die Nacht, die sprach: Ein Knabe ist empfangen!

Perezca el día en que yo nací, y la noche que se dijo: Varón es concebido.

Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.

Jener Tag sei Finsternis! Nicht frage Gott nach ihm droben, und nicht erglänze über ihm das Licht!

Sea aquel día sombrío, y Dios no cuide de él desde arriba, ni claridad sobre él resplandezca.

Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.

Finsternis und Todesschatten mögen ihn einlösen, Gewölk lagere sich über ihm, es schrecken ihn Tagesverfinsterungen!

Aféenlo tinieblas y sombra de muerte; repose sobre él nublado, que lo haga horrible como caliginoso día.

Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

Jene Nacht – Dunkel ergreife sie; sie freue sich nicht unter den Tagen des Jahres, in die Zahl der Monde komme sie nicht!

Ocupe la oscuridad aquella noche; no sea contada entre los días del año, ni venga en el número de los meses.

As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.

Siehe, jene Nacht sei unfruchtbar, es trete kein Jubel in sie ein!

Verwünschen mögen sie die Verflucher des Tages, die fähig sind, den Leviatan aufzureizen!

Maldíganla los que maldicen al día, los que se aprestan para levantar su llanto.

Verfinstert seien die Sterne ihrer Dämmerung; sie harre auf Licht, und da sei keines; und nicht schaue sie die Wimpern der Morgenröte!

Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:

Denn sie hat die Pforte meines Mutterschoßes nicht verschlossen und Mühsal nicht verborgen vor meinen Augen.

Por cuanto no cerró las puertas del vientre donde yo estaba, ni escondió de mis ojos la miseria.

Warum starb ich nicht von Mutterleib an, kam aus dem Schoß hervor und verschied?

¿Por qué no morí yo desde la matriz, o fuí traspasado en saliendo del vientre?

Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?

“Why didn’t I die from the womb? Why didn’t I give up the spirit when my mother bore me?

Weshalb kamen Knie mir entgegen, und wozu Brüste, dass ich sog?

¿Por qué me previnieron las rodillas? ¿y para qué las tetas que mamase?

Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?

Why did the knees receive me? Or why the breast, that I should nurse?

Denn jetzt würde ich liegen und rasten, ich würde schlafen: dann hätte ich Ruhe –

Pues que ahora yaciera yo, y reposara; durmiera, y entonces tuviera reposo,

For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,

mit Königen und Räten der Erde, die sich verödete Plätze erbauten,

Con los reyes y con los consejeros de la tierra, que edifican para sí los desiertos;

Denn gleich meinem Brot kommt mein Seufzen, und wie Wasser ergießt sich mein Gestöhn.

Pues antes que mi pan viene mi suspiro; y mis gemidos corren como aguas.

For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.

Denn ich fürchtete einen Schrecken, und er traf mich, und vor dem mir bangte, das kam über mich.

Ich war nicht ruhig, und ich rastete nicht und ruhte nicht, da kam das Toben.

No he tenido paz, no me aseguré, ni me estuve reposado; vínome no obstante turbación.

I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.

I am not at ease, neither am I quiet, neither do I have rest; but trouble comes.”
