Danach öffnete Hiob seinen Mund und verfluchte seinen Tag .

DESPUÉS de esto abrió Job su boca, y maldijo su día.

After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.

Und Hiob hob an und sprach:

Y exclamó Job, y dijo:

And Job spake, and said,

„Ausgelöscht sei †der Tag, †an dem ich geboren wurde, und die Nacht, †die sprach: »ein starker Mann ist empfangen worden!«.

Perezca el día en que yo nací, y la noche que se dijo: Varón es concebido.

Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.

Jener Tag – er werde zur Finsternis, Gott oben suche ihn nicht! Kein Lichtstrahl leuchte auf über ihm!

Sea aquel día sombrío, y Dios no cuide de él desde arriba, ni claridad sobre él resplandezca.

Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.

Finsternis und Todesschatten sollen ihn zurückfordern , Gewölk sich auf ihn lagern, †Sonnenfinsternisse ihn schrecken!

Aféenlo tinieblas y sombra de muerte; repose sobre él nublado, que lo haga horrible como caliginoso día.

Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

Diese Nacht – Düsternis reiße sie hinweg, sie reihe sich nicht ein in die Tage des Jahres! In den Ablauf der Monate trete sie nicht ein!

Ocupe la oscuridad aquella noche; no sea contada entre los días del año, ni venga en el número de los meses.

As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.

Ja, jene Nacht sei unfruchtbar! Kein Freudenlaut komme auf in ihr!

¡Oh si fuere aquella noche solitaria, que no viniera canción alguna en ella!

Verwünschen sollen sie die Tagverflucher , die, die befähigt sind, den Leviathan aufzuscheuchen.

Maldíganla los que maldicen al día, los que se aprestan para levantar su llanto.

Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.

Verfinstern sollen sich die Sterne ihrer Abenddämmerung. Sie hoffe sehnsüchtig auf Licht – doch nichts! Sie soll nicht sehen die Wimpern der Morgenröte!

Oscurézcanse las estrellas de su alba; espere la luz, y no venga, ni vea los párpados de la mañana:

Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:

Denn sie hat weder die Türen des Schoßes †meiner Mutter verschlossen, noch hat sie die Mühsal verborgen vor meinen Augen.

Por cuanto no cerró las puertas del vientre donde yo estaba, ni escondió de mis ojos la miseria.

Because it shut not up the doors of my mother’s womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.

Warum bin ich nicht bei der Geburt gestorben und nicht hingeschieden, als ich aus dem Mutterleib kam?

¿Por qué no morí yo desde la matriz, o fuí traspasado en saliendo del vientre?

Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?

“Why didn’t I die from the womb? Why didn’t I give up the spirit when my mother bore me?

Warum sind mir Knie begegnet und wozu Brüste, damit ich saugte?

¿Por qué me previnieron las rodillas? ¿y para qué las tetas que mamase?

Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?

Why did the knees receive me? Or why the breast, that I should nurse?

Dann könnte ich jetzt daliegen und ausruhen. Ich könnte schlafen und hätte dann meine Ruhe

Pues que ahora yaciera yo, y reposara; durmiera, y entonces tuviera reposo,

For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,

zusammen mit Königen und Reichsverwaltern, die zerstörte Denkstätten für sich †wieder aufgebaut haben,

Con los reyes y con los consejeros de la tierra, que edifican para sí los desiertos;

With kings and counsellors of the earth, which built desolate places for themselves;

oder mit Fürsten, die Gold hatten, die ihre Häuser mit Silber füllten!

O con los príncipes que poseían el oro, que henchían sus casas de plata.

Oder wie eine verscharrte Fehlgeburt, hätte ich nie existiert, wie Kinder, die nie Licht gesehen haben.

O ¿por qué no fuí escondido como aborto, como los pequeñitos que nunca vieron luz?

die sich freuten bis zum Jubel , die froh wären, wenn sie ein Grab fänden?

(Warum) dem (starken) Mann, dessen Weg verborgen ist, der von Gott getrennt ist?

Denn vor meinem Brot kommt mein Stöhnen, und wie Wasser ergießen sich meine Schreie.

Pues antes que mi pan viene mi suspiro; y mis gemidos corren como aguas.

For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.

For my sighing comes before I eat. My groanings are poured out like water.

Denn, wovor ich mich fürchterlich fürchtete, das kam über mich, und wovor mir grauste, das traf mich.

Porque el temor que me espantaba me ha venido, y hame acontecido lo que temía.

For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

For the thing which I fear comes on me, that which I am afraid of comes to me.

Ich kann mich nicht wohlfühlen, ich kann nicht ruhig sein und ich kann nicht ausruhen – stattdessen kommt der Aufruhr.“

No he tenido paz, no me aseguré, ni me estuve reposado; vínome no obstante turbación.

I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.

I am not at ease, neither am I quiet, neither do I have rest; but trouble comes.”
