Después de esto abrió Job su boca, y echó la maldición al día de su nacimiento ,
DESPUÉS de esto abrió Job su boca, y maldijo su día.
After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.

hablando de esta manera:
Y exclamó Job, y dijo:
And Job spake, and said,
Job answered:
Perezca, mal haya, el día en que nací y la noche en que se dijo por mí: Concebido queda un varón.
Perezca el día en que yo nací, y la noche que se dijo: Varón es concebido.
Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.
“Let the day perish in which I was born, the night which said, ‘There is a boy conceived.’
Conviértase aquel día en tinieblas; no haga Dios cuenta de él desde lo alto; ni sea con luz alumbrado;
Sea aquel día sombrío, y Dios no cuide de él desde arriba, ni claridad sobre él resplandezca.
Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.
Let that day be darkness. Don’t let God from above seek for it, neither let the light shine on it.
oscurézcanle las tinieblas, y la negra sombra de la muerte; cúbrale densa niebla y sea envuelto en amargura;
Aféenlo tinieblas y sombra de muerte; repose sobre él nublado, que lo haga horrible como caliginoso día.
Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.
Let darkness and the shadow of death claim it for their own. Let a cloud dwell on it. Let all that makes the day black terrify it.
corra en aquella noche un tenebroso torbellino; no se mencione ella entre los días del año, ni se cuente entre los meses;
Ocupe la oscuridad aquella noche; no sea contada entre los días del año, ni venga en el número de los meses.
As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.
As for that night, let thick darkness seize on it. Let it not rejoice among the days of the year. Let it not come into the number of the months.
sea la tal noche solitaria o estéril, y no se considere digna de cantares o regocijos;
¡Oh si fuere aquella noche solitaria, que no viniera canción alguna en ella!
Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.
Behold, let that night be barren. Let no joyful voice come therein.
maldíganla los que aborrecen el día en que nacieron, que están prontos a provocar a Leviatán;
Maldíganla los que maldicen al día, los que se aprestan para levantar su llanto.
Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.

oscurezcan sus tinieblas las estrellas de esta noche; espere la luz, y nunca jamás la vea, ni el albor de la naciente aurora,

Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:

ya que no cerró el claustro del vientre que me llevaba, y no apartó de mis ojos la vista de estos males.
Por cuanto no cerró las puertas del vientre donde yo estaba, ni escondió de mis ojos la miseria.
Because it shut not up the doors of my mother’s womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.

¿Por qué no morí yo en las entrañas de mi madre; o salido a luz no perecí luego?
¿Por qué no morí yo desde la matriz, o fuí traspasado en saliendo del vientre?
Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?
“Why didn’t I die from the womb? Why didn’t I give up the spirit when my mother bore me?
¿Para qué al nacer me acogieron en el regazo? ¿Para qué me arrimaron al pecho a fin de que mamase?
¿Por qué me previnieron las rodillas? ¿y para qué las tetas que mamase?
Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?
Why did the knees receive me? Or why the breast, that I should nurse?
Pues yo ahora estaría durmiendo en el silencio de la muerte; y en este mi sueño lograría reposo,
Pues que ahora yaciera yo, y reposara; durmiera, y entonces tuviera reposo,
For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,

al lado de con los reyes y potentados de la tierra, que fabrican para sí edificios en lugares solitarios;
Con los reyes y con los consejeros de la tierra, que edifican para sí los desiertos;
With kings and counsellors of the earth, which built desolate places for themselves;

o con los príncipes que amontonan oro y llenan de plata sus casas;
O con los príncipes que poseían el oro, que henchían sus casas de plata.

o bien como un aborto, que luego lo esconden y apartan de la vista, yo no subsistiera, o como los que después de concebidos no llegaron a ver la luz.
O ¿por qué no fuí escondido como aborto, como los pequeñitos que nunca vieron luz?

Allá en el sepulcro cesa por fin el gran ruido que mueven los impíos; allí es donde vienen a descansar los de las fuerzas cansadas,

¿Por qué razón fue concedida la luz a un desdichado, y la vida a los que la pasan como yo, en amargura de ánimo?

Los cuales están esperando la muerte, la que no acaba de llegar, como esperan los que cavan en busca de un tesoro;

who long for death, but it doesn’t come; and dig for it more than for hidden treasures,
y se sienten transportados de gozo al hallar el sepulcro.
Que se alegran sobremanera, y se gozan, cuando hallan el sepulcro?
Which rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?

¿Por qué se concedió la vida a un hombre como yo, que no ve el camino por donde anda; habiéndole Dios cercado todo de tinieblas?

Suspiro antes de tomar alimento, y suenan mis rugidos como las aguas que rompen los diques e inundan.
Pues antes que mi pan viene mi suspiro; y mis gemidos corren como aguas.
For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.
For my sighing comes before I eat. My groanings are poured out like water.
Por cuanto me ha sucedido lo que yo me temía, se han verificado mis recelos.
Porque el temor que me espantaba me ha venido, y hame acontecido lo que temía.
For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.
For the thing which I fear comes on me, that which I am afraid of comes to me.
¿Acaso no disimulé, no callé, no aguanté con paciencia? Y sin embargo, la indignación de Dios ha descargado sobre mí.
No he tenido paz, no me aseguré, ni me estuve reposado; vínome no obstante turbación.
I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.
I am not at ease, neither am I quiet, neither do I have rest; but trouble comes.”
