Job 40

Et le Seigneur Dieu, continuant à parler à Job dit :

ENTONCES respondió Jehová á Job desde la oscuridad, y dijo:

Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,

Est-ce qu'il décline la justice du Tout-Puissant ? Celui qui a adressé des reproches au Seigneur doit lui répondre.

Cíñete ahora como varón tus lomos; yo te preguntaré, y explícame.

Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

“Shall he who argues contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.”

Et Job, reprenant, dit au Seigneur :

¿Invalidarás tú también mi juicio? ¿me condenarás á mí, para justificarte á ti?

Then Job answered the LORD, and said,

Then Job answered the LORD,

Pourquoi m'obstinerais-je à contester ? Je me tiens pour averti ; j'ai osé blâmer le Seigneur, et j'ai ouï de telles paroles, moi qui ne suis rien ! Que pourrais-je répliquer ? Je n'ai plus qu'à me mettre la main sur la bouche.

¿Tienes tú brazo como Dios? ¿y tronarás tú con voz como él?

Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.

“Behold, I am of small account. What will I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth.

J'ai parlé une fois ; je me garderai bien de parler encore.

Atavíate ahora de majestad y de alteza: y vístete de honra y de hermosura.

Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.

I have spoken once, and I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.”

Et le Seigneur, continuant, dit à Job, à travers la nuée :

Esparce furores de tu ira: y mira á todo soberbio, y abátelo.

Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

Nullement, mais ceins-toi les reins comme un homme ; je vais te questionner, tu me répondras.

Mira á todo soberbio, y humíllalo, y quebranta á los impíos en su asiento.

Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

“Now brace yourself like a man. I will question you, and you will answer me.

Ne refuse pas mon jugement : crois-tu que j'aie conversé avec toi, sinon pour que tu apparaisses juste ?

Encúbrelos á todos en el polvo, venda sus rostros en la oscuridad;

Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?

Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified?

Ton bras est-il le bras du Seigneur ? ta voix est-elle comme son tonnerre ?

Y yo también te confesaré que podrá salvarte tu diestra.

Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

Or do you have an arm like God? Can you thunder with a voice like him?

Revêts-toi de grandeur et de puissance ; orne-toi d'honneur et de gloire.

He aquí ahora behemoth, al cual yo hice contigo; hierba come como buey.

Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

“Now deck yourself with excellency and dignity. Array yourself with honor and majesty.

Envoie des anges dans ta colère, humilie tout orgueilleux.

He aquí ahora que su fuerza está en sus lomos, y su fortaleza en el ombligo de su vientre.

Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.

Pour out the fury of your anger. Look at everyone who is proud, and bring him low.

Eteins les vaines splendeurs, fais tomber soudain l'impie en pourriture.

Su cola mueve como un cedro, y los nervios de sus genitales son entretejidos.

Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

Look at everyone who is proud, and humble him. Crush the wicked in their place.

Cache les pécheurs ensemble sous la terre ; couvre leurs fronts de honte.

Sus huesos son fuertes como bronce, y sus miembros como barras de hierro.

Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.

Je confesserai alors que ta main peut sauver.

El es la cabeza de los caminos de Dios: el que lo hizo, puede hacer que su cuchillo á él se acerque.

Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.

Then I will also admit to you that your own right hand can save you.

Mais vois auprès de toi les bêtes fauves ; elles se repaissent d'herbe comme les bœufs.

Ciertamente los montes producen hierba para él: y toda bestia del campo retoza allá.

Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

“See now behemoth, which I made as well as you. He eats grass as an ox.

La vigueur de la bête est dans ses reins ; sa force dans ses entrailles.

Echaráse debajo de las sombras, en lo oculto de las cañas, y de los lugares húmedos.

Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

Look now, his strength is in his thighs. His force is in the muscles of his belly.

Elle dresse sa queue comme un cyprès ; ses nerfs sont liés entre eux.

Los árboles sombríos lo cubren con su sombra; los sauces del arroyo lo cercan.

He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

He moves his tail like a cedar. The sinews of his thighs are knit together.

Ses côtes sont des côtes d'airain ; son échine est de fer fondu.

He aquí que él tomará el río sin inmutarse: y confíase que el Jordán pasará por su boca.

His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

His bones are like tubes of bronze. His limbs are like bars of iron.

Elle est le commencement de l'œuvre du Seigneur, créée pour être raillée par les anges.

¿Tomarálo alguno por sus ojos en armadijos, y horadará su nariz?

He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

He is the chief of the ways of God. He who made him gives him his sword.

Lorsqu'elle a gravi sur les cimes des monts, elle a réjoui les quadrupèdes dans le Tartare.

Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

Surely the mountains produce food for him, where all the animals of the field play.

Elle se couche sous toute sorte d'arbre ; auprès du papyrus, de l'herbe ou du roseau.

He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.

He lies under the lotus trees, in the covert of the reed, and the marsh.

L'ombre des grands rameaux la couvre, ou les jeunes tiges des champs.

The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.

The lotuses cover him with their shade. The willows of the brook surround him.

Vienne le flux de la mer, elle ne le sentira pas ; elle ne craint rien ; le Jourdain même se briserait sur sa gueule.

Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.

Behold, if a river overflows, he doesn’t tremble. He is confident, though the Jordan swells even to his mouth.

D'un coup d'œil elle réprimera son choc ; pris au piège, il frémira jusqu'en ses narines.

He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.

Shall any take him when he is on the watch, or pierce through his nose with a snare?

Prendras-tu le serpent à l'hameçon ? passeras-tu dans ses dents une bride ?

Attacheras-tu à son nez un anneau ? perceras-tu ses lèvres d'un cercle ?

Te parlera-t-il, te priera-t-il, te fera-t-il entendre de douces supplications ?

S'engagera-t-il avec toi par un pacte ? En feras-tu ton esclave dans les siècles des siècles ?

—

Te joueras-tu de lui comme d'un oisillon, le mettras-tu en cage comme un passereau pour ton petit enfant ?

—

—

—

Les nations s'en nourrissent ; les peuples phéniciens se le partagent.

—

—

Ils attachent de sa peau à leurs navires, et sa tête à leurs barques de pêcheurs.

—

—

Tu le maîtriseras en te souvenant de la guerre qu'il a causée, et qu'elle ne se renouvelle plus.
