Job 40

L'Eternel, répondant à Job, dit:

ENTONCES respondió Jehová á Job desde la oscuridad, y dijo:

Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,

Le censeur du Tout-Puissant persistera-t-il à récriminer contre lui? Le critique de Dieu répondra-t-il à tout cela?

Cíñete ahora como varón tus lomos; yo te preguntaré, y explícame.

Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

“Shall he who argues contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.”

Job répondit à l'Eternel et dit:

¿Invalidarás tú también mi juicio? ¿me condenarás á mí, para justificarte á ti?

Then Job answered the LORD, and said,

Hé quoi! Je suis trop peu de chose: que te répliquerai-je? Je mets ma main sur ma bouche.

¿Tienes tú brazo como Dios? ¿y tronarás tú con voz como él?

Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.

“Behold, I am of small account. What will I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth.

J'ai parlé une fois… je ne prendrai plus la parole; deux fois… je ne dirai plus rien.

Atavíate ahora de majestad y de alteza: y vístete de honra y de hermosura.

Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.

I have spoken once, and I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.”

Alors l'Eternel répondit à Job du sein de la tempête et dit:

Esparce furores de tu ira: y mira á todo soberbio, y abátelo.

Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

Ceins tes reins comme un homme: je vais t'interroger et tu m'instruiras.

Mira á todo soberbio, y humíllalo, y quebranta á los impíos en su asiento.

Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

“Now brace yourself like a man. I will question you, and you will answer me.

Prétends-tu vraiment prendre en défaut ma justice, ‘ me condamner pour te justifier?

Encúbrelos á todos en el polvo, venda sus rostros en la oscuridad;

Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?

Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified?

As-tu donc un bras comme celui de Dieu? Fais-tu retentir comme lui la voix du tonnerre?

Y yo también te confesaré que podrá salvarte tu diestra.

Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

Or do you have an arm like God? Can you thunder with a voice like him?

Alors pare-toi de majesté et de grandeur, revêts-toi de splendeur et de magnificence.

He aquí ahora behemoth, al cual yo hice contigo; hierba come como buey.

Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

“Now deck yourself with excellency and dignity. Array yourself with honor and majesty.

Lance de toutes parts les éclats de ta colère et, d'un regard, abaisse tout orgueilleux.

He aquí ahora que su fuerza está en sus lomos, y su fortaleza en el ombligo de su vientre.

Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.

Pour out the fury of your anger. Look at everyone who is proud, and bring him low.

D'un regard, humilie tout orgueilleux, et écrase les méchants sur place.

Su cola mueve como un cedro, y los nervios de sus genitales son entretejidos.

Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

Look at everyone who is proud, and humble him. Crush the wicked in their place.

Enfouis-les tous ensemble dans la poussière, confine leur face dans la nuit du tombeau.

Sus huesos son fuertes como bronce, y sus miembros como barras de hierro.

Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.

Alors moi-même je te louerai de ce que ta droite t'aura donné la victoire.

El es la cabeza de los caminos de Dios: el que lo hizo, puede hacer que su cuchillo á él se acerque.

Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.

Then I will also admit to you that your own right hand can save you.

Vois donc le Béhémoth que j'ai créé comme toi: il se nourrit d'herbe comme le bœuf.

Ciertamente los montes producen hierba para él: y toda bestia del campo retoza allá.

Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

“See now behemoth, which I made as well as you. He eats grass as an ox.

Admire la force qui est dans ses reins, la vigueur qui réside dans les muscles de son ventre.

Echaráse debajo de las sombras, en lo oculto de las cañas, y de los lugares húmedos.

Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

Look now, his strength is in his thighs. His force is in the muscles of his belly.

Sa queue se dresse comme un cèdre, les nerfs de ses cuisses sont entrelacés.

Los árboles sombríos lo cubren con su sombra; los sauces del arroyo lo cercan.

He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

He moves his tail like a cedar. The sinews of his thighs are knit together.

Ses os sont des tuyaux d'airain, ses vertèbres des barres de fer.

He aquí que él tomará el río sin inmutarse: y confíase que el Jordán pasará por su boca.

His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

His bones are like tubes of bronze. His limbs are like bars of iron.

Il est une des œuvres capitales de Dieu: Celui qui l'a fait l'a gratifié d'un glaive.

¿Tomarálo alguno por sus ojos en armadijos, y horadará su nariz?

He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

He is the chief of the ways of God. He who made him gives him his sword.

Les montagnes produisent du fourrage pour lui, et là toutes les bêtes des champs prennent leurs ébats.

Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

Surely the mountains produce food for him, where all the animals of the field play.

Il se couche sous les lotus, sous le couvert des roseaux et des marais,

He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.

He lies under the lotus trees, in the covert of the reed, and the marsh.

Les lotus le protègent de leur ombre, les saules du torrent l'enveloppent.

The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.

The lotuses cover him with their shade. The willows of the brook surround him.

Voici que le fleuve se gonfle et il ne s'en émeut point; il demeurerait plein d'assurance si le Jourdain lui montait à la gueule.

—

Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.

Behold, if a river overflows, he doesn’t tremble. He is confident, though the Jordan swells even to his mouth.

Peut-on s'en emparer quand il a les yeux ouverts, lui percer le nez avec des harpons?

He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.

Shall any take him when he is on the watch, or pierce through his nose with a snare?

Tireras-tu le Léviathan avec un hameçon? Lui feras-tu baisser la langue avec la ligne?

Lui passeras-tu un jonc dans les narines, lui perceras-tu la mâchoire avec un crochet?

—

Te prodiguera-t-il ses prières? Ou t'adressera-t-il de douces paroles?

Fera-t-il un pacte avec toi? L'engageras-tu comme un esclave perpétuel?

—

Te servira-t-il de jouet comme un passereau? L'attacheras-tu pour amuser tes jeunes filles?

—

Les pêcheurs associés en feront-ils le commerce? Le débiteront-ils entre les marchands?

—

—

Cribleras-tu sa peau de dards et sa tête de harpons barbelés?

—

—

—

Pose seulement ta main sur lui: tu te souviendras de ce combat et ne recommenceras plus!
