Y RESPONDIÓ Eliphaz el Temanita, y dijo:

“Si alguien intentara hablarte, ¿te molestaría? Pero, ¿quién podría quedarse callado?
Si probáremos á hablarte, serte ha molesto; mas ¿quién podrá detener las palabras?
If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking?
“If someone ventures to talk with you, will you be grieved? But who can withhold himself from speaking?
Tú mismo has instruido a mucha gente y has fortalecido a los que estaban débiles.
He aquí, tú enseñabas á muchos, y las manos flacas corroborabas;
Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands.
Behold, you have instructed many, you have strengthened the weak hands.
Tus palabras animaban al que tropezaba y dabas firmeza a las rodillas que flaqueaban.
Al que vacilaba, enderezaban tus palabras, y esforzabas las rodillas que decaían.
Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees.
Your words have supported him who was falling, you have made the feeble knees firm.
Pero ahora que te toca a ti, te desanimas; el mal te alcanza, y te llenas de miedo.
Mas ahora que el mal sobre ti ha venido, te es duro; y cuando ha llegado hasta ti, te turbas.
But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.
But now it has come to you, and you faint. It touches you, and you are troubled.
¿No debería tu respeto a Dios darte confianza? ¿No debería tu vida íntegra darte esperanza?
¿Es este tu temor, tu confianza, tu esperanza, y la perfección de tus caminos?
Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways?
Isn’t your piety your confidence? Isn’t the integrity of your ways your hope?
“Ponte a pensar: ¿cuándo ha muerto un inocente? ¿Dónde se ha visto que destruyan a la gente honrada?
Recapacita ahora, ¿quién que fuera inocente se perdiera? y ¿en dónde los rectos fueron cortados?
Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off?
“Remember, now, who ever perished, being innocent? Or where were the upright cut off?
Según mi experiencia, los que cultivan la maldad y siembran problemas, eso mismo cosechan.
Como yo he visto, los que aran iniquidad y siembran injuria, la siegan.
Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.
According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble, reap the same.
Dios sopla sobre ellos y los destruye; el soplo de su enojo los consume.
Perecen por el aliento de Dios, y por el espíritu de su furor son consumidos.
By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.
By the breath of God they perish. By the blast of his anger are they consumed.
Aunque el león ruja y el cachorro gruña, a los leones más fuertes les rompen los dientes.
El bramido del león, y la voz del león, y los dientes de los leoncillos son quebrantados.
The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken.

El león viejo muere por falta de comida y los cachorros de la leona se dispersan por el mundo.
El león viejo perece por falta de presa, y los hijos del león son esparcidos.
The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, and the stout lion’s whelps are scattered abroad.
The old lion perishes for lack of prey. The cubs of the lioness are scattered abroad.
“Recibí un mensaje en secreto; mis oídos apenas percibieron un susurro.
El negocio también me era á mí oculto; mas mi oído ha percibido algo de ello.
Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a little thereof.
“Now a thing was secretly brought to me. My ear received a whisper of it.
Entre pesadillas y visiones nocturnas, cuando el sueño profundo cae sobre todos,
En imaginaciones de visiones nocturnas, cuando el sueño cae sobre los hombres,
In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men,

me invadió un miedo terrible; ¡todos mis huesos se pusieron a temblar!
Sobrevínome un espanto y un temblor, que estremeció todos mis huesos:
Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake.

Un espíritu pasó frente a mi cara, y se me erizó todo el vello del cuerpo.
Y un espíritu pasó por delante de mí, que hizo se erizara el pelo de mi carne.
Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up:

El espíritu se detuvo, pero no pude ver cómo era; una sombra estaba frente a mis ojos. En medio del silencio, oí una voz que decía:
Paróse un fantasma delante de mis ojos, cuyo rostro yo no conocí, y quedo, oí que decía:
It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying,
It stood still, but I couldn’t discern its appearance. A form was before my eyes. Silence, then I heard a voice, saying,
‘¿Puede un simple mortal ser más justo que Dios? ¿Puede un hombre ser más puro que su Creador?’.
¿Si será el hombre más justo que Dios? ¿si será el varón más limpio que el que lo hizo?
Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?
‘Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall a man be more pure than his Maker?
Si Dios no confía ni en sus propios ángeles, y hasta en ellos encuentra errores,
He aquí que en sus siervos no confía, y notó necedad en sus ángeles;
Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly:
Behold, he puts no trust in his servants. He charges his angels with error.
¡cuánto menos confiará en los hombres! Ellos viven en cuerpos de barro que nacen del polvo y son aplastados más fácil que una polilla.
¡Cuánto más en los que habitan en casas de lodo, cuyo fundamento está en el polvo, y que serán quebrantados de la polilla!
How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth?
How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed before the moth!
Se mueren entre la mañana y la tarde; desaparecen para siempre y a nadie le importa.
De la mañana á la tarde son quebrantados, y se pierden para siempre, sin haber quien lo considere.
They are destroyed from morning to evening: they perish for ever without any regarding it.
Between morning and evening they are destroyed. They perish forever without any regarding it.
Se les arrancan las cuerdas de su tienda, y mueren sin haber alcanzado sabiduría”.
¿Su hermosura, no se pierde con ellos mismos? Mueren, y sin sabiduría.
Doth not their excellency which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.
Isn’t their tent cord plucked up within them? They die, and that without wisdom.’
