“¡Anda, llama ahora! ¿Crees que alguien te responderá? ¿A cuál de los ángeles te vas a dirigir?
AHORA pues da voces, si habrá quien te responda; ¿y á cuál de los santos te volverás?
Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn?
“Call now; is there any who will answer you? To which of the holy ones will you turn?
Es el enojo lo que mata al necio, y el resentimiento lo que destruye al tonto.
Es cierto que al necio la ira lo mata, y al codicioso consume la envidia.
For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.
For resentment kills the foolish man, and jealousy kills the simple.
Yo mismo he visto al insensato echar raíces, pero de repente declaré maldito su hogar.
Yo he visto al necio que echaba raíces, y en la misma hora maldije su habitación.
I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

Sus hijos nunca están seguros; en el tribunal son maltratados y no hay nadie que los defienda.

Los hambrientos se comen su cosecha, sacándola incluso de entre los espinos, y los sedientos se quedan con sus bienes.
Su mies comerán los hambrientos, y sacaránla de entre las espinas, y los sedientos beberán su hacienda.
Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.

Porque el sufrimiento no brota del polvo, ni los problemas nacen de la tierra;
Porque la iniquidad no sale del polvo, ni la molestia brota de la tierra.
Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;

más bien, el hombre nace para el sufrimiento, así como las chispas vuelan hacia arriba.
Empero como las centellas se levantan para volar por el aire, así el hombre nace para la aflicción.
Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

“Si yo fuera tú, buscaría a Dios y ante él presentaría mi caso.
Ciertamente yo buscaría á Dios, y depositaría en él mis negocios:

Él hace cosas grandes e incomprensibles, maravillas que no se pueden contar.
El cual hace cosas grandes é inescrutables, y maravillas que no tienen cuento:
Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:
who does great things that can’t be fathomed, marvelous things without number;
Él manda la lluvia sobre la tierra y envía el agua sobre los campos.
Que da la lluvia sobre la haz de la tierra, y envía las aguas por los campos:
Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:
who gives rain on the earth, and sends waters on the fields;
Él enaltece a los humildes y pone a salvo a los que lloran.
Que pone los humildes en altura, y los enlutados son levantados á salud:
To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.
so that he sets up on high those who are low, those who mourn are exalted to safety.
Él frustra los planes de los astutos, para que no tengan éxito en sus empresas.
Que frustra los pensamientos de los astutos, para que sus manos no hagan nada:
He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.
He frustrates the plans of the crafty, so that their hands can’t perform their enterprise.
Él atrapa a los sabios en su propia astucia y arruina los planes de los tramposos.
Que prende á los sabios en la astucia de ellos, y el consejo de los perversos es entontecido;
He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.
He takes the wise in their own craftiness; the counsel of the cunning is carried headlong.
En pleno día ellos se encuentran con tinieblas; al mediodía andan a tientas como si fuera de noche.
De día se topan con tinieblas, y en mitad del día andan á tientas como de noche:
They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night.
They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope at noonday as in the night.
Pero Dios salva al pobre de la espada de su boca y de las manos de los poderosos.
Y libra de la espada al pobre, de la boca de los impíos, y de la mano violenta;
But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.
But he saves from the sword of their mouth, even the needy from the hand of the mighty.
Por eso el necesitado tiene esperanza y a la injusticia se le tapa la boca.
Pues es esperanza al menesteroso, y la iniquidad cerrará su boca.
So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
So the poor has hope, and injustice shuts her mouth.
“¡Qué feliz es el hombre a quien Dios corrige! Por eso, no desprecies la disciplina del Todopoderoso.
He aquí, bienaventurado es el hombre á quien Dios castiga: por tanto no menosprecies la corrección del Todopoderoso.
Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:
“Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.
Porque él hiere, pero también venda la herida; él golpea, pero sus manos traen salud.
Porque él es el que hace la llaga, y él la vendará: él hiere, y sus manos curan.
For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.
For he wounds and binds up. He injures and his hands make whole.
De seis problemas te librará, y en el séptimo el mal no te alcanzará.
En seis tribulaciones te librará, y en la séptima no te tocará el mal.
He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
He will deliver you in six troubles; yes, in seven no evil will touch you.
En tiempos de hambre te salvará de la muerte, y en la guerra te librará de la espada.
En el hambre te redimirá de la muerte, y en la guerra de las manos de la espada.
In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.
In famine he will redeem you from death; in war, from the power of the sword.
Estarás protegido de las malas lenguas y no tendrás miedo cuando llegue la destrucción.
Del azote de la lengua serás encubierto; ni temerás de la destrucción cuando viniere.
Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, neither will you be afraid of destruction when it comes.
Te reirás de la destrucción y del hambre, y no les temerás a los animales salvajes.
De la destrucción y del hambre te reirás, y no temerás de las bestias del campo:
At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
You will laugh at destruction and famine, neither will you be afraid of the animals of the earth.
Pues hasta con las piedras del campo harás un pacto, y las fieras del campo vivirán en paz contigo.
Pues aun con las piedras del campo tendrás tu concierto, y las bestias del campo te serán pacíficas.
For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
For you will be allied with the stones of the field. The animals of the field will be at peace with you.
Sabrás que en tu casa hay paz; revisarás tu corral y no faltará nada.
Y sabrás que hay paz en tu tienda; y visitarás tu morada, y no pecarás.
And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.
You will know that your tent is in peace. You will visit your fold, and will miss nothing.
Verás que tu descendencia será numerosa; tus hijos serán como la hierba del campo.
Asimismo echarás de ver que tu simiente es mucha, y tu prole como la hierba de la tierra.
Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
You will know also that your offspring will be great, your offspring as the grass of the earth.
Llegarás a la tumba en una buena vejez, como se recogen las espigas de trigo en su temporada.
Y vendrás en la vejez á la sepultura, como el montón de trigo que se coge á su tiempo.
Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.
You will come to your grave in a full age, like a shock of grain comes in its season.
Esto es lo que hemos investigado, y es la verdad. Así que escúchalo y compruébalo por ti mismo”.
He aquí lo que hemos inquirido, lo cual es así: óyelo, y juzga tú para contigo.
Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.
Behold, we have researched it. It is so. Hear it, and know it for your good.”
