Rufe doch, ob einer da ist, der dir antwortet! Und an welchen der Heiligen willst du dich wenden?

AHORA pues da voces, si habrá quien te responda; ¿y á cuál de los santos te volverás?

Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn?

Denn den Narren erwürgt der Gram, und den Einfältigen tötet der Eifer.

Es cierto que al necio la ira lo mata, y al codicioso consume la envidia.

For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.

der Regen gibt auf die Fläche der Erde, und Wasser sendet auf die Fläche der Flur;

Que da la lluvia sobre la haz de la tierra, y envía las aguas por los campos:

Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:

who gives rain on the earth, and sends waters on the fields;

um Niedrige in die Höhe zu setzen, und Trauernde steigen empor zum Glück.

Que pone los humildes en altura, y los enlutados son levantados á salud:

To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.

Der zunichte macht die Anschläge der Listigen, und ihre Hände führen den Plan nicht aus;

Que frustra los pensamientos de los astutos, para que sus manos no hagan nada:

der die Weisen erhascht in ihrer List, und der Verschmitzten Rat überstürzt sich.

Bei Tage stoßen sie auf Finsternis, und am Mittag tappen sie wie bei der Nacht.

So wird dem Armen Hoffnung, und die Ungerechtigkeit verschließt ihren Mund.

Pues es esperanza al menesteroso, y la iniquidad cerrará su boca.

Siehe, glückselig der Mensch, den Gott straft! So verwirf denn nicht die Züchtigung des Allmächtigen.

Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

Denn er bereitet Schmerz und verbindet, er zerschlägt, und seine Hände heilen.

For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

In sechs Drangsalen wird er dich erretten, und in sieben wird dich kein Übel antasten.

En seis tribulaciones te librará, y en la séptima no te tocará el mal.

He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

In Hungersnot erlöst er dich von dem Tode, und im Kriege von der Gewalt des Schwertes.

En el hambre te redimirá de la muerte, y en la guerra de las manos de la espada.

In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.

Vor der Zunge Geißel wirst du geborgen sein, und du wirst dich nicht fürchten vor der Verwüstung, wenn sie kommt.

Del azote de la lengua serás encubierto; ni temerás de la destrucción cuando viniere.

Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.

You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, neither will you be afraid of destruction when it comes.

Der Verwüstung und des Hungers wirst du lachen, und vor dem Getier der Erde wirst du dich nicht fürchten;

De la destrucción y del hambre te reirás, y no temerás de las bestias del campo:

At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

You will laugh at destruction and famine, neither will you be afraid of the animals of the earth.

denn dein Bund wird mit den Steinen des Feldes sein, und das Getier des Feldes wird Frieden mit dir haben.

Pues aun con las piedras del campo tendrás tu concierto, y las bestias del campo te serán pacíficas.

For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

For you will be allied with the stones of the field. The animals of the field will be at peace with you.

Und du wirst erfahren, daß dein Zelt in Frieden ist, und überschaust du deine Wohnung, so wirst du nichts vermissen;

Y sabrás que hay paz en tu tienda; y visitarás tu morada, y no pecarás.

And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.

You will know that your tent is in peace. You will visit your fold, and will miss nothing.

und du wirst erfahren, daß deine Nachkommenschaft zahlreich sein wird, und deine Sprößlinge gleich dem Kraut der Erde.

Asimismo echarás de ver que tu simiente es mucha, y tu prole como la hierba de la tierra.

Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.

You will know also that your offspring will be great, your offspring as the grass of the earth.

Du wirst in Rüstigkeit in das Grab kommen, wie der Garbenhaufen eingebracht wird zu seiner Zeit. -

Y vendrás en la vejez á la sepultura, como el montón de trigo que se coge á su tiempo.

Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.

You will come to your grave in a full age, like a shock of grain comes in its season.

Siehe, dieses, wir haben es erforscht, so ist es; höre es, und du, merke es dir!

He aquí lo que hemos inquirido, lo cual es así: óyelo, y juzga tú para contigo.

Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.

Behold, we have researched it. It is so. Hear it, and know it for your good.”
