AHORA pues da voces, si habrá quien te responda; ¿y á cuál de los santos te volverás?

Verdaderamente que al necio le mata la cólera, y al apocado le quita la vida la envidia.
Es cierto que al necio la ira lo mata, y al codicioso consume la envidia.
For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.

que ensalza a los humildes, y alienta con prosperidades a los tribulados;
Que pone los humildes en altura, y los enlutados son levantados á salud:
To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.

que disipa las maquinaciones de los malignos, para que sus manos no puedan completar lo que comenzaron;
Que frustra los pensamientos de los astutos, para que sus manos no hagan nada:
He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

que prende a los astutos con las mismas redes de ellos, y desvanece los designios de los malvados,
Que prende á los sabios en la astucia de ellos, y el consejo de los perversos es entontecido;

de suerte que en pleno día se encontrarán en tinieblas, y a mediodía andarán a tientas como si fuese de noche.

Entretanto el Señor salvará al desvalido de la espada de sus lenguas, y al pobre de las manos del hombre violento.

No, no quedará frustrada la esperanza del mendigo, y los inicuos no osarán despegar sus labios.
Pues es esperanza al menesteroso, y la iniquidad cerrará su boca.
So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.

Dichoso el hombre a quien el mismo Dios corrige; no desprecies, pues, la corrección del Señor.
He aquí, bienaventurado es el hombre á quien Dios castiga: por tanto no menosprecies la corrección del Todopoderoso.
Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

Porque él mismo hace la llaga y la sana; hiere, y cura con sus manos.

For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

A las seis tribulaciones te libertará, y a la séptima ya no tocará el mal.

He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

El te salvará de la muerte en tiempo de hambre, y en la guerra del golpe de la espada.
En el hambre te redimirá de la muerte, y en la guerra de las manos de la espada.
In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.
In famine he will redeem you from death; in war, from the power of the sword.
Estarás a cubierto del azote de lenguas malignas, y no temerás la calamidad cuando viniere.
Del azote de la lengua serás encubierto; ni temerás de la destrucción cuando viniere.
Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, neither will you be afraid of destruction when it comes.
En medio de la desolación y la carestía general tú te reirás; no temerás las bestias salvajes;
De la destrucción y del hambre te reirás, y no temerás de las bestias del campo:
At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
You will laugh at destruction and famine, neither will you be afraid of the animals of the earth.
antes bien estarán en alianza contigo hasta las piedras de los campos, y las bestias fieras del país serán para ti mansas,
Pues aun con las piedras del campo tendrás tu concierto, y las bestias del campo te serán pacíficas.
For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
For you will be allied with the stones of the field. The animals of the field will be at peace with you.
y verás reinar la paz y abundancia en tu morada; y no cometerás falta en el gobierno de tu dichosa casa.
Y sabrás que hay paz en tu tienda; y visitarás tu morada, y no pecarás.
And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.
You will know that your tent is in peace. You will visit your fold, and will miss nothing.
Verás también multiplicarse tu linaje, y crecer tu descendencia como la hierba del prado.
Asimismo echarás de ver que tu simiente es mucha, y tu prole como la hierba de la tierra.
Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
You will know also that your offspring will be great, your offspring as the grass of the earth.
En fin, lleno de años entrarás en el sepulcro; al modo que el montón de trigo se recoge en las trojes a su debido tiempo.
Y vendrás en la vejez á la sepultura, como el montón de trigo que se coge á su tiempo.
Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.
You will come to your grave in a full age, like a shock of grain comes in its season.
Mira que lo que acabamos de exponerte es así como lo decimos; reflexiónalo, pues, y medítalo para contigo mismo.
He aquí lo que hemos inquirido, lo cual es así: óyelo, y juzga tú para contigo.
Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.
Behold, we have researched it. It is so. Hear it, and know it for your good.”
