For if he would enter into judgement with him, Or, he God would not hearken to him, so that he should answer to one of his charges of a thousand.
Si quisiere contender con él, no le podrá responder á una cosa de mil.
If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.
If he is pleased to contend with him, he can’t answer him one time in a thousand.
For he is wise in mind, and mighty, and great: who has hardened himself against him and endured?
El es sabio de corazón, y poderoso en fortaleza: ¿quién se endureció contra él, y quedó en paz?
He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?
God is wise in heart, and mighty in strength. Who has hardened himself against him and prospered?
Who wears out the mountains, and men know it not: who overturns them in anger.
Que arranca los montes con su furor, y no conocen quién los trastornó:

If ever he should go beyond me, I shall not see him: if he should pass by me, neither thus have I known it.

If he would take away, who shall turn him back? or who shall say to him, What hast thou done?
He aquí, arrebatará; ¿quién le hará restituir? ¿Quién le dirá, Qué haces?
Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou?
Behold, he snatches away. Who can hinder him? Who will ask him, ‘What are you doing?’
For if he has turned away his anger, the Or, probably any large fish, or marine animals, whether cetaceous or not; See note, Ge 1:21 whales under heaven have stooped under him.
Dios no tornará atrás su ira, y debajo de él se encorvan los que ayudan á los soberbios.
If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.

Gr. If then he will Oh then that he would hearken to me, or judge my cause.
¿Cuánto menos le responderé yo, y hablaré con él palabras estudiadas?
How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words to reason with him?

For though I be righteous, he will not hearken to me: I will intreat his judgement.
Que aunque fuese yo justo, no responderé; antes habré de rogar á mi juez.
Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.

Que si yo le invocase, y él me respondiese, aun no creeré que haya escuchado mi voz.
If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.

Let him not crush me with a dark storm: but he has made by bruises many without cause.
Porque me ha quebrado con tempestad, y ha aumentado mis heridas sin causa.

For he suffers me not to take breath, but he has filled me with bitterness.

For indeed he is strong in power: who then shall resist his judgement?
Si habláremos de su potencia, fuerte por cierto es; si de juicio, ¿quién me emplazará?
If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time to plead?
If it is a matter of strength, behold, he is mighty! If of justice, ‘Who,’ says he, ‘will summon me?’
For though I should Gr. be seem righteous, my mouth will be profane: and though I should seem blameless, I shall be proved perverse.
Si yo me justificare, me condenará mi boca; si me dijere perfecto, esto me hará inicuo.
If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.
Though I am righteous, my own mouth will condemn me. Though I am blameless, it will prove me perverse.
For even if I have sinned, I know it not in my soul: but my life is taken away.
Bien que yo fuese íntegro, no conozco mi alma: reprocharé mi vida.
Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.

Wherefore I said, Wrath slays the great and mighty man.
Una cosa resta que yo diga: Al perfecto y al impío él los consume.
This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
“It is all the same. Therefore I say he destroys the blameless and the wicked.
For the worthless die, but the righteous are laughed to scorn.
Si azote mata de presto, ríese de la prueba de los inocentes.
If the scourge slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.

For they are delivered into the hands of the unrighteous man: he covers the faces of the judges of the earth: but if it be not he, who is it?
La tierra es entregada en manos de los impíos, y él cubre el rostro de sus jueces. Si no es él, ¿quién es? ¿dónde está?
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he?

But my life is swifter than a post: my days i. e., insensibly have fled away, and they knew it not.
Mis días han sido más ligeros que un correo; huyeron, y no vieron el bien.
Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.

Or again, is there a trace of their path left by ships? or is there one of the flying eagle as it seeks its prey?

And if I should say, I will forget to speak, I will bow down my face and groan;
Si digo: Olvidaré mi queja, dejaré mi aburrimiento, y esforzaréme:
If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort myself:
If I say, ‘I will forget my complaint, I will put off my sad face, and cheer up,’
I quake in all my limbs, for I know that thou wilt not leave me alone as innocent.
Contúrbanme todos mis trabajos; sé que no me darás por libre.
I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
I am afraid of all my sorrows. I know that you will not hold me innocent.
But since I am ungodly, why have I not died?
Yo soy impío, ¿para qué trabajaré en vano?
If I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?
I will be condemned. Why then do I labor in vain?
For if I should wash myself with snow, and purge myself with pure hands,
Aunque me lave con aguas de nieve, y limpie mis manos con la misma limpieza,
If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;
If I wash myself with snow, and cleanse my hands with lye,
thou Gr. hast hadst thoroughly plunged me in filth, and my garment had abhorred me.
Aun me hundirás en el hoyo, y mis propios vestidos me abominarán.
Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.
yet you will plunge me in the ditch. My own clothes will abhor me.
For thou art not man like me, with whom I could contend, that we might come together to judgement.
Porque no es hombre como yo, para que yo le responda, y vengamos juntamente á juicio.

Would that he our mediator were present, and a reprover, and one who should hear the cause between both.
No hay entre nosotros árbitro que ponga su mano sobre nosotros ambos.

Let him remove his rod from me, and let not his fear terrify me:
Quite de sobre mí su vara, y su terror no me espante.

so shall I not be afraid, but I will speak: for I am not thus conscious of guilt.
Entonces hablaré, y no le temeré: porque así no estoy en mí mismo.
