"Verdadeiramente, eu sei que é assim. Mas como é que a pessoa pode estar correta diante de Deus?
Ciertamente yo conozco que es así: ¿y cómo se justificará el hombre con Dios?
I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?

Se ela quer discutir com Deus, Ele não lhe responde uma vez em mil vezes.
Si quisiere contender con él, no le podrá responder á una cosa de mil.
If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.
If he is pleased to contend with him, he can’t answer him one time in a thousand.
Deus é prudente no coração, forte e poderoso, quem já se endureceu contra Ele e foi bem sucedido?
El es sabio de corazón, y poderoso en fortaleza: ¿quién se endureció contra él, y quedó en paz?
He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?
God is wise in heart, and mighty in strength. Who has hardened himself against him and prospered?
Ele é quem tira as montanhas sem avisar a ninguém quando as move na Sua ira,
Que arranca los montes con su furor, y no conocen quién los trastornó:
Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger.
He removes the mountains, and they don’t know it, when he overturns them in his anger.
Ele é quem move a Terra para fora do seu lugar faz suas colunas estremecerem.
Que remueve la tierra de su lugar, y hace temblar sus columnas:
Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.
He shakes the earth out of its place. Its pillars tremble.
É o mesmo Deus que diz ao sol para não nascer e não nasce e quem cobre as estrelas,
Que manda al sol, y no sale; y sella las estrellas:
Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.
He commands the sun and it doesn’t rise, and seals up the stars.
Quem, por si mesmo, estende os céus, pisoteia e subjuga as ondas do mar,
El que extiende solo los cielos, y anda sobre las alturas de la mar:
Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.
He alone stretches out the heavens, and treads on the waves of the sea.
Quem faz a Ursa, Orion, Plêiades e as constelações do sul.
El que hizo el Arcturo, y el Orión, y las Pléyadas, y los lugares secretos del mediodía:
Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.
He makes the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, and the rooms of the south.
É o mesmo Deus que faz grandes coisas, coisas incompreensíveis — coisas maravilhosas incontáveis.
El que hace cosas grandes é incomprensibles, y maravillosas, sin número.
Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.
He does great things past finding out; yes, marvelous things without number.
Vê, Ele passa por mim e eu nem O vejo; Ele segue adiante também, mas eu não O percebo.
He aquí que él pasará delante de mí, y yo no lo veré; y pasará, y no lo entenderé.
Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.
Behold, he goes by me, and I don’t see him. He passes on also, but I don’t perceive him.
Se Ele remove alguma coisa, quem pode O impedir? Quem pode Lhe dizer: 'o que Tu fazes?'.
He aquí, arrebatará; ¿quién le hará restituir? ¿Quién le dirá, Qué haces?
Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou?
Behold, he snatches away. Who can hinder him? Who will ask him, ‘What are you doing?’
Deus não irá retirar a Sua ira; os ajudadores de Raabe se curvam diante Dele.
Dios no tornará atrás su ira, y debajo de él se encorvan los que ayudan á los soberbios.
If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.
“God will not withdraw his anger. The helpers of Rahab stoop under him.
Quanto menos eu poderia Lhe responder, poderia escolher palavras para discutir com Ele?
¿Cuánto menos le responderé yo, y hablaré con él palabras estudiadas?
How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words to reason with him?
How much less will I answer him, and choose my words to argue with him?
Mesmo que eu fosse justo, eu não Lhe responderia; eu pediria somente misericórdia ao meu Juiz.
Que aunque fuese yo justo, no responderé; antes habré de rogar á mi juez.
Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.
Though I were righteous, yet I wouldn’t answer him. I would make supplication to my judge.
Mesmo que eu clamasse e Ele me respondesse, não acredito que Ele estaria ouvindo a minha voz.
Que si yo le invocase, y él me respondiese, aun no creeré que haya escuchado mi voz.
If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.
If I had called, and he had answered me, yet I wouldn’t believe that he listened to my voice.
Porque Ele me quebra com tempestade e multiplica-me as feridas sem causa.
Porque me ha quebrado con tempestad, y ha aumentado mis heridas sin causa.
For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.
For he breaks me with a storm, and multiplies my wounds without cause.
Ele nem me permite retomar o fôlego e me enche de amargura.
No me ha concedido que tome mi aliento; mas hame hartado de amarguras.
He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.
He will not allow me to catch my breath, but fills me with bitterness.
Se é uma questão de força, saiba! Ele é poderoso! Se for uma questão de justiça, quem pode intimá-Lo?
Si habláremos de su potencia, fuerte por cierto es; si de juicio, ¿quién me emplazará?
If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time to plead?
If it is a matter of strength, behold, he is mighty! If of justice, ‘Who,’ says he, ‘will summon me?’
Mesmo estando com a razão, minha própria boca me condenaria; mesmo que eu não tenha culpa, minhas palavras me provariam culpado.
Si yo me justificare, me condenará mi boca; si me dijere perfecto, esto me hará inicuo.
If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.
Though I am righteous, my own mouth will condemn me. Though I am blameless, it will prove me perverse.
Estou sem culpa, mas já não me interesso mais por mim mesmo; eu desprezo a minha própria vida.
Bien que yo fuese íntegro, no conozco mi alma: reprocharé mi vida.
Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.
I am blameless. I don’t respect myself. I despise my life.
Não faz diferença nenhuma, é por isso que eu disse que Ele destrói ambos, os justos e os maus.
Una cosa resta que yo diga: Al perfecto y al impío él los consume.
This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
“It is all the same. Therefore I say he destroys the blameless and the wicked.
Se qualquer flagelo mata subitamente, Ele rirá da aflição dos inocentes.
Si azote mata de presto, ríese de la prueba de los inocentes.
If the scourge slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.
If the scourge kills suddenly, he will mock at the trial of the innocent.
A Terra está entregue nas mãos dos perversos; Deus cobre os rostos dos Seus juízes. Se não for Ele que faz isso, então, quem é?
La tierra es entregada en manos de los impíos, y él cubre el rostro de sus jueces. Si no es él, ¿quién es? ¿dónde está?
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he?
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked. He covers the faces of its judges. If not he, then who is it?
Meus dias são mais velozes que um mensageiro corredor; os meus dias desaparecem, eles não veem nenhum bem.
Mis días han sido más ligeros que un correo; huyeron, y no vieron el bien.
Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.

Se eu dissese que vou esquecer minhas queixas, que vou tirar a minha face triste e estar feliz,
Si digo: Olvidaré mi queja, dejaré mi aburrimiento, y esforzaréme:
If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort myself:
If I say, ‘I will forget my complaint, I will put off my sad face, and cheer up,’
estaria com medo de todas minhas tristezas porque eu sei que Tu não irás me considerar inocente.
Contúrbanme todos mis trabajos; sé que no me darás por libre.
I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
I am afraid of all my sorrows. I know that you will not hold me innocent.
Eu serei condenado; por que, então, tentaria em vão?
Yo soy impío, ¿para qué trabajaré en vano?
If I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?
I will be condemned. Why then do I labor in vain?
Se me lavasse com água de neve e tornasse as minhas mãos limpas,
Aunque me lave con aguas de nieve, y limpie mis manos con la misma limpieza,
If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;
If I wash myself with snow, and cleanse my hands with lye,
Deus me mergulharia numa vala e a minha própria roupa ficaria com nojo de mim.
Aun me hundirás en el hoyo, y mis propios vestidos me abominarán.
Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.
yet you will plunge me in the ditch. My own clothes will abhor me.
Porque Deus não é homem, como eu sou; eu poderia respondê-L; não poderíamos nos apresentar juntos ao tribunal.
Porque no es hombre como yo, para que yo le responda, y vengamos juntamente á juicio.
For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.

Não há juiz entre nós que possa por as mãos sobre ambos.
No hay entre nosotros árbitro que ponga su mano sobre nosotros ambos.
Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both.

Não há um outro juiz que tire a vara de Deus de cima de mim, que possa evitar o Seu terror de me assustar.
Quite de sobre mí su vara, y su terror no me espante.
Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me:
Let him take his rod away from me. Let his terror not make me afraid;
Então, eu poderia falar alto e não O temer. Mas, com as coisas desse jeito, eu não posso fazer isto.
Entonces hablaré, y no le temeré: porque así no estoy en mí mismo.
Then would I speak, and not fear him; but it is not so with me.
