Levántate! ve a Nínive, esa gran ciudad, y dale la palabra que te he dado.

Entonces Jonás se levantó y fue a Nínive como el Señor lo había dicho. Ahora Nínive era una ciudad muy grande, tres días de viaje de punta a punta.
Y levantóse Jonás, y fué á Nínive, conforme á la palabra de Jehová. Y era Nínive ciudad sobremanera grande, de tres días de camino.

Y Jonás, en primer lugar, hizo un viaje de un día a la ciudad, y gritando dijo: En cuarenta días la destrucción alcanzará a Nínive.
Y comenzó Jonás á entrar por la ciudad, camino de un día, y pregonaba diciendo: De aquí á cuarenta días Nínive será destruída.

Y el pueblo de Nínive creyeron en Dios; y se fijó un tiempo de ayuno, y se vistieron de cilicio, de mayor a menor.

Y lo hizo dar a conocer en Nínive: Por orden del rey y sus grandes hombres, ningún hombre o bestia, rebaño o ganado debe probar nada; que no tengan comida ni agua.
E hizo pregonar y anunciar en Nínive, por mandado del rey y de sus grandes, diciendo: Hombres y animales, bueyes y ovejas, no gusten cosa alguna, no se les dé alimento, ni beban agua:

Y que el hombre y la bestia se vistan de cilicio, y clamen a Dios fuertemente; y que todos se aparten de su mal camino y de los actos violentos de sus manos.
Y que se cubran de saco los hombres y los animales, y clamen á Dios fuertemente: y conviértase cada uno de su mal camino, de la rapiña que está en sus manos.

Y Dios vio lo que hicieron, cómo fueron apartados de su mal camino; y el propósito de Dios fue cambiado en cuanto al mal que dijo que les haría, y no lo hizo.
