Jonás 3

Depois disso, o Senhor falou pela segunda vez com Jonas, dizendo:

Y FUÉ palabra de Jehová segunda vez á Jonás, diciendo:

And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying,

The LORD’s word came to Jonah the second time, saying,

“Vá à grande cidade de Nínive e avise seus habitantes do castigo que virá contra eles, como eu já havia ordenado a você”.

Levántate, y ve á Nínive, aquella gran ciudad, y publica en ella el pregón que yo te diré.

Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.

“Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I give you.”

Dessa vez, Jonas obedeceu à palavra do Senhor e foi para Nínive. Ora, Nínive era uma cidade muito grande, tão grande que uma pessoa levaria três dias para atravessá-la a pé.

Y levantóse Jonás, y fué á Nínive, conforme á la palabra de Jehová. Y era Nínive ciudad sobremanera grande, de tres días de camino.

Jonas entrou na cidade, andou nela por um dia e começou a proclamar: “Daqui a quarenta dias Nínive será destruída”.

Y comenzó Jonás á entrar por la ciudad, camino de un día, y pregonaba diciendo: De aquí á cuarenta días Nínive será destruída.

And Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.

O povo creu em Deus, e decidiram proclamar um jejum, e todos os habitantes, desde o maior até o menor, vestiram-se de panos de saco.

Y los hombres de Nínive creyeron á Dios, y pregonaron ayuno, y vistiéronse de sacos desde el mayor de ellos hasta el menor de ellos.

So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.

Isso porque, quando o rei de Nínive ouviu o que Jonas estava falando, desceu do trono, trocou suas roupas reais por pano de saco e se assentou sobre cinza.

Y llegó el negocio hasta el rey de Nínive, y levantóse de su silla, y echó de sí su vestido, y cubrióse de saco, y se sentó sobre ceniza.

For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.

O rei e seus ministros mandaram a seguinte mensagem para toda a cidade: “Ninguém, nem homem nem animal, bois ou ovelhas, poderá se alimentar ou beber água.

E hizo pregonar y anunciar en Nínive, por mandado del rey y de sus grandes, diciendo: Hombres y animales, bueyes y ovejas, no gusten cosa alguna, no se les dé alimento, ni beban agua:

And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:

Todos devem se cobrir de pano de saco, homens e animais, e clamar a Deus com fervor. Deixem seus maus caminhos, suas violências e seus roubos.

Y que se cubran de saco los hombres y los animales, y clamen á Dios fuertemente: y conviértase cada uno de su mal camino, de la rapiña que está en sus manos.

But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.

Assim, quem sabe Deus permita que continuemos a viver e não ficará tão furioso a ponto de querer nos destruir”.

¿Quién sabe si se volverá y arrepentirá Dios, y se apartará del furor de su ira, y no pereceremos?

Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

E, quando Deus viu que haviam deixado de lado seus maus costumes, abandonou seu plano de destruir os habitantes de Nínive.

Y vió Dios lo que hicieron, que se convirtieron de su mal camino: y arrepintióse del mal que había dicho les había de hacer, y no lo hizo.

And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
