Jonás 4

Und es war sehr böse vor Jonah, und er entbrannte.

Und er betete zu Jehovah und sprach: Ach Jehovah, war nicht das mein Wort, da ich noch auf meinem Boden war, darum ich wollte zuvorkommen und nach Tharschisch entweichen? Denn ich wußte ja, daß Du ein gnädiger und erbarmungsvoller Gott, langmütig und von großer Barmherzigkeit bist, und Dich des Bösen gereuen läßt.

Y oró á Jehová, y dijo: Ahora, oh Jehová, ¿no es esto lo que yo decía estando aún en mi tierra? Por eso me precaví huyendo á Tarsis: porque sabía yo que tú eres Dios clemente y piadoso, tardo á enojarte, y de grande misericordia, y que te arrepientes del mal.

And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.

He prayed to the LORD, and said, “Please, LORD, wasn’t this what I said when I was still in my own country? Therefore I hurried to flee to Tarshish, for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and you relent of doing harm.

Und nun, Jehovah, nimm doch meine Seele von mir! Besser ist, ich sterbe, denn daß ich lebe.

Ahora pues, oh Jehová, ruégote que me mates; porque mejor me es la muerte que la vida.

Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.

Und Jehovah sprach: Ist es gut, daß du entbrennst?

Y Jehová le dijo: ¿Haces tú bien en enojarte tanto?

Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry?

The LORD said, “Is it right for you to be angry?”

Und Jonah ging hinaus aus der Stadt, und setzte sich gegen Osten von der Stadt, und machte sich allda eine Hütte, und setzte sich darunter in den Schatten, bis daß er sähe, was mit der Stadt würde werden.

Y salióse Jonás de la ciudad, y asentó hacia el oriente de la ciudad, é hízose allí una choza, y se sentó debajo de ella á la sombra, hasta ver qué sería de la ciudad.

So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city.

Und Jehovah Gott verschaffte einen Wunderbaum, und er stieg auf über Jonah, so daß über seinem Haupte Schatten wäre, so daß er ihn von seinem Bösen errettete; und Jonah ward froh über den Wunderbaum mit großer Fröhlichkeit.

Y preparó Jehová Dios una calabacera, la cual creció sobre Jonás para que hiciese sombra sobre su cabeza, y le defendiese de su mal: y Jonás se alegró grandemente por la calabacera.

And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd.

The LORD God prepared a vine and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shade over his head to deliver him from his discomfort. So Jonah was exceedingly glad because of the vine.

Und Gott verschaffte einen Wurm, als das Morgenrot aufstieg am morgenden Tag, und er stach den Wunderbaum, daß er verdorrte.

Mas Dios preparó un gusano al venir la mañana del día siguiente, el cual hirió á la calabacera, y secóse.

But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered.

Und als die Sonne aufging, geschah, daß Gott einen versengenden Ostwind verschaffte, und die Sonne stach Jonah auf den Kopf, daß er dahinschmachtete; und er erbat seiner Seele, daß er stürbe, und sprach: Besser ist mir, daß ich sterbe, denn daß ich lebe.

Y acaeció que al salir el sol, preparó Dios un recio viento solano; y el sol hirió á Jonás en la cabeza, y desmayábase, y se deseaba la muerte, diciendo: Mejor sería para mí la muerte que mi vida.

And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.

When the sun arose, God prepared a sultry east wind; and the sun beat on Jonah’s head, so that he was faint and requested for himself that he might die. He said, “It is better for me to die than to live.”

Und Gott sprach zu Jonah: Tust du wohl, daß du bei dir entbrennst über den Wunderbaum? Und er sprach: Ich tue wohl, daß ich entbrenne bis zum Tod.

Entonces dijo Dios á Jonás: ¿Tanto te enojas por la calabacera? Y él respondió: Mucho me enojo, hasta la muerte.

And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death.

God said to Jonah, “Is it right for you to be angry about the vine?” He said, “I am right to be angry, even to death.”

Und Jehovah sprach: Du würdest schonen den Wunderbaum, mit dem du keine Mühe hattest, und den du nicht großgezogen hattest, der in einer Nacht ward und in einer Nacht verging.

Y dijo Jehová: Tuviste tú lástima de la calabacera, en la cual no trabajaste, ni tú la hiciste crecer; que en espacio de una noche nació, y en espacio de otra noche pereció:

Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:

The LORD said, “You have been concerned for the vine, for which you have not labored, neither made it grow; which came up in a night and perished in a night.

Und Ich sollte nicht schonen Niniveh, die große Stadt, in der sind mehr den zwölf Myriaden von Menschen, die nicht wissen den Unterschied zwischen ihrer Rechten und ihrer Linken, und viel Vieh?

¿Y no tendré yo piedad de Nínive, aquella grande ciudad donde hay más de ciento y veinte mil personas que no conocen su mano derecha ni su mano izquierda, y muchos animales?

And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?

Shouldn’t I be concerned for Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than one hundred twenty thousand persons who can’t discern between their right hand and their left hand, and also many animals?”
