1*Et c’est ici ce que les fils d’Israël ont reçu en héritage dans le pays de Canaan, ce qu’Éléazar, le sacrificateur, et Josué, fils de Nun, et les chefs des pères des tribus des fils d’Israël, leur distribuèrent en héritage :
2leur héritage fut [distribué] par le sort, comme l’Éternel l’avait commandé par Moïse, aux neuf tribus et à la demi-tribu.
3Car Moïse avait donné un héritage à deux tribus et à une demi-tribu, de l’autre côté du Jourdain ; mais il n’avait pas donné d’héritage parmi eux aux Lévites.
4Car les fils de Joseph étaient deux tribus : Manassé et Éphraïm ; et on ne donna point de part aux Lévites dans le pays, excepté les villes d’habitation, et leurs banlieues pour leurs troupeaux et pour leurs biens.
5Les fils d’Israël firent comme l’Éternel l’avait commandé à Moïse, et ils partagèrent le pays.
6Et les fils de Juda s’approchèrent de Josué, à Guilgal ; et Caleb, fils de Jephunné, le Kenizien, lui dit : Tu sais la parole que l’Éternel a dite, à mon sujet et à ton sujet, à Moïse, homme de Dieu, à Kadès-Barnéa.
7J’étais âgé de 40 ans quand Moïse, serviteur de l’Éternel, m’envoya de Kadès-Barnéa pour explorer le pays, et je lui rapportai la chose comme elle était dans mon cœur.
8Et mes frères qui étaient montés avec moi faisaient fondre le cœur du peuple ; mais moi, je suivis pleinement l’Éternel, mon Dieu.
9Et Moïse jura en ce jour-là, disant : Si le pays que ton pied a foulé n’est à toi pour héritage, et à tes fils, pour toujours ! car tu as pleinement suivi l’Éternel, mon Dieu.
10Et maintenant, voici, comme il l’a dit, l’Éternel m’a conservé en vie ces 45 ans, depuis que l’Éternel a dit cette parole à Moïse, lorsque Israël marchait dans le désert ; et maintenant, voici, moi je suis aujourd’hui âgé de 85 ans.
11Je suis encore aujourd’hui fort comme le jour où Moïse m’envoya ; telle que ma force était alors, telle ma force est maintenant, pour la guerre, et pour sortir et entrer.
12Et maintenant, donne-moi cette montagne dont l’Éternel a parlé en ce jour-là ; car tu as entendu, en ce jour-là, que les Anakim y sont, et de grandes villes fortes ; peut-être que l’Éternel sera avec moi, et je les déposséderai, comme l’Éternel a dit.
13Et Josué le bénit, et donna Hébron en héritage à Caleb, fils de Jephunné.
14C’est pourquoi Hébron appartient en héritage, jusqu’à ce jour, à Caleb, fils de Jephunné, le Kenizien, parce qu’il avait pleinement suivi l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël.
15Or le nom de Hébron était auparavant Kiriath-Arba ; [Arba] était le grand homme parmi les Anakim. Et le pays se reposa de la guerre.

1ESTO pues es lo que los hijos de Israel tomaron por heredad en la tierra de Canaán, lo cual les repartieron Eleazar sacerdote, y Josué hijo de Nun, y los principales de los padres de las tribus de los hijos de Israel.
2Por suerte dióseles su heredad, como Jehová lo había mandado por Moisés, que diese á las nueve tribus, y á la media tribu.
3Porque á las dos tribus, y á la media tribu, les había Moisés dado heredad de la otra parte del Jordán: mas á los Levitas no dió heredad entre ellos.
4Porque los hijos de José fueron dos tribus, Manasés y Ephraim: y no dieron parte á los Levitas en la tierra, sino ciudades en que morasen, con sus ejidos para sus ganados y rebaños.
5De la manera que Jehová lo había mandado á Moisés, así lo hicieron los hijos de Israel en el repartimiento de la tierra.
6Y los hijos de Judá vinieron á Josué en Gilgal; y Caleb, hijo de Jephone Cenezeo, le dijo: Tú sabes lo que Jehová dijo á Moisés, varón de Dios, en Cades-barnea, tocante á mí y á ti.
7Yo era de edad de cuarenta años, cuando Moisés siervo de Jehová me envió de Cades-barnea á reconocer la tierra; y yo le referí el negocio como lo tenía en mi corazón:
8Mas mis hermanos, los que habían subido conmigo, menguaron el corazón del pueblo; empero yo cumplí siguiendo á Jehová mi Dios.
9Entonces Moisés juró, diciendo: Si la tierra que holló tu pie no fuere para ti, y para tus hijos en herencia perpetua: por cuanto cumpliste siguiendo á Jehová mi Dios.
10Ahora bien, Jehová me ha hecho vivir, como él dijo, estos cuarenta y cinco años, desde el tiempo que Jehová habló estas palabras á Moisés, cuando Israel andaba por el desierto: y ahora, he aquí, soy hoy día de ochenta y cinco años:
11Pero aun hoy estoy tan fuerte como el día que Moisés me envió: cual era entonces mi fuerza, tal es ahora, para la guerra, y para salir y para entrar.
12Dame, pues, ahora este monte, del cual habló Jehová aquel día; porque tú oiste en aquel día que los Anaceos están allí, y grandes y fuertes ciudades. Quizá Jehová será conmigo, y los echaré como Jehová ha dicho.
13Josué entonces le bendijo, y dió á Caleb hijo de Jephone á Hebrón por heredad.
14Por tanto Hebrón fué de Caleb, hijo de Jephone Cenezeo, en heredad hasta hoy; porque cumplió siguiendo á Jehová Dios de Israel.
15Mas Hebrón fué antes llamada Chîriath-arba; fué Arba un hombre grande entre los Anaceos. Y la tierra tuvo reposo de las guerras.

1And these are the countries which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for inheritance to them.
2By lot was their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half tribe.
3For Moses had given the inheritance of two tribes and an half tribe on the other side Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave none inheritance among them.
4For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.
5As the LORD commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did, and they divided the land.
6Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadesh-barnea.
7Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.
8Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.
9And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.
10And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.
11As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
12Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.
13And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.
14Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.
15And the name of Hebron before was Kirjath-arba; which Arba was a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.

1These are the inheritances which the children of Israel took in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed to them,
2by the lot of their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half-tribe.
3For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe beyond the Jordan; but to the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.
4For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim. They gave no portion to the Levites in the land, except cities to dwell in, with their pasture lands for their livestock and for their property.
5The children of Israel did as the LORD commanded Moses, and they divided the land.
6Then the children of Judah came near to Joshua in Gilgal. Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know the thing that the LORD spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning you in Kadesh Barnea.
7I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land. I brought him word again as it was in my heart.
8Nevertheless, my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed the LORD my God.
9Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where you walked shall be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have wholly followed the LORD my God.’
10“Now, behold, the LORD has kept me alive, as he spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that the LORD spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. Now, behold, I am eighty-five years old, today.
11As yet I am as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me. As my strength was then, even so is my strength now for war, to go out and to come in.
12Now therefore give me this hill country, of which the LORD spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and great and fortified cities. It may be that the LORD will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as the LORD said.”
13Joshua blessed him; and he gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance.
14Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he followed the LORD, the God of Israel wholeheartedly.
15Now the name of Hebron before was Kiriath Arba, after the greatest man among the Anakim. Then the land had rest from war.
