Y TUVO también suerte la tribu de Manasés, porque fué primogénito de José. Machîr, primogénito de Manasés, y padre de Galaad, el cual fué hombre de guerra, tuvo á Galaad y á Basán.

Y fué el término de Manasés desde Aser hasta Michmetat, la cual está delante de Sichêm; y va este término á la mano derecha, á los que habitan en Tappua.

La frontera de Manasés seguía por la ribera norte del arroyo de Caná hasta el mar Mediterráneo. Varias ciudades del sur del arroyo pertenecían a la tribu de Efraín, aunque estaban localizadas en el territorio de Manasés.

The border went down to the brook of Kanah, southward of the brook. These cities belonged to Ephraim among the cities of Manasseh. The border of Manasseh was on the north side of the brook, and ended at the sea.

And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher Beth-shean and her towns, and Ibleam and her towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Endor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and her towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns, even three countries.

Un día los hijos de José fueron ante Josué y le preguntaron: ―¿Por qué nos has dado sólo una porción de tierra, cuando el Señor nos ha dado una población tan numerosa?
Y los hijos de José hablaron á Josué, diciendo: ¿Por qué me has dado por heredad una sola suerte y una sola parte, siendo yo un pueblo tan grande y que Jehová me ha así bendecido hasta ahora?
And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me hitherto?
The children of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, “Why have you given me just one lot and one part for an inheritance, since we are a numerous people, because the LORD has blessed us so far?”
―Si el territorio montañoso de Efraín no es suficiente para ustedes —contestó Josué—, y pueden hacerlo, suban y desmonten los bosques donde habitan los ferezeos y los refaítas.
Y Josué les respondió: Si eres pueblo tan grande, sube tú al monte, y corta para ti allí en la tierra del Pherezeo y de los gigantes, pues que el monte de Ephraim es angosto para ti.
And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.
Joshua said to them, “If you are a numerous people, go up to the forest, and clear land for yourself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the Rephaim, since the hill country of Ephraim is too narrow for you.”
―Sí —dijeron las tribus de José—, porque los cananeos de las tierras bajas que rodean a Betseán y del valle de Jezrel tienen carros de hierro y son demasiado fuertes para nosotros.

And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Beth-shean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.

―Entonces tendrán los bosques de la montaña —respondió Josué— y puesto que ustedes son una tribu fuerte y numerosa no tendrán problemas para despejar el lugar y vivir en él. Estoy seguro de que pueden expulsar a los cananeos de los valles también, aun cuando ellos sean fuertes y tengan carros de hierro.

Mas aquel monte será tuyo; que bosque es, y tú lo cortarás, y serán tuyos sus términos: porque tú echarás al Cananeo, aunque tenga carros herrados, y aunque sea fuerte.
But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.
but the hill country shall be yours. Although it is a forest, you shall cut it down, and it’s farthest extent shall be yours; for you shall drive out the Canaanites, though they have chariots of iron, and though they are strong.”
