Josué 24

Finalmente congregó Josué por última vez todas las tribus de Israel en Siquem; y llamó a los ancianos y príncipes, y jueces, y magistrados, y se presentaron delante del Señor.

Y JUNTANDO Josué todas las tribus de Israel en Sichêm, llamó á los ancianos de Israel, y á sus príncipes, á sus jueces, y á sus oficiales; y presentáronse delante de Dios.

And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.

And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.

Entonces clamaron los hijos de Israel al Señor; el cual puso tinieblas muy densas entre vosotros y los egipcios, e hizo volver sobre éstos el mar, y los anegó en él. Vuestros ojos vieron todas las cosas que hice en Egipto, dice el Señor; y habitasteis mucho tiempo en el desierto.

Y como ellos clamasen á Jehová, él puso oscuridad entre vosotros y los Egipcios, é hizo venir sobre ellos la mar, la cual los cubrió: y vuestros ojos vieron lo que hice en Egipto. Después estuvisteis muchos días en el desierto.

Al fin os introduje en la tierra del amorreo, que habitaba a la otra parte del Jordán, y cuando combatían contra vosotros los entregué en vuestras manos, y os apoderasteis de su tierra, y los pasasteis a cuchillo.

Y os introduje en la tierra de los Amorrheos, que habitaban de la otra parte del Jordán, los cuales pelearon contra vosotros; mas yo los entregué en vuestras manos, y poseísteis su tierra, y los destruí de delante de vosotros.

And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt on the other side Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, that ye might possess their land; and I destroyed them from before you.

Se levantó Balac, hijo de Sefor, rey de Moab, y movió guerra contra Israel. Y envió a llamar a Balaam , hijo de Beor, para que os maldijese.

Pasasteis después el Jordán y vinisteis a Jericó , donde se armaron contra vosotros los vecinos de aquella ciudad, los amorreos, los ferezeos, los cananeos, los heteos, los gergeseos, los heveos y jebuseos, y los entregué en vuestras manos.

Y pasado el Jordán, vinisteis á Jericó; y los moradores de Jericó pelearon contra vosotros: los Amorrheos, Pherezeos, Cananeos, Hetheos, Gergeseos, Heveos, y Jebuseos: y yo los entregué en vuestras manos.

And ye went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I delivered them into your hand.

Yo envié adelante de vosotros enjambres de avispones, con que lancé de sus tierras a los dos reyes amorreos, y no por medio de vuestra espada y arco;

Y envié tábanos delante de vosotros, los cuales los echaron de delante de vosotros, á saber, á los dos reyes de los Amorrheos; no con tu espada, ni con tu arco.

And I sent the hornet before you, which drave them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; but not with thy sword, nor with thy bow.

y os di tierras que vosotros no habíais labrado, y ciudades que no habíais edificado, para que habitaseis en ellas, y os di viñas y olivares que no habíais plantado.

And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.

I gave you a land on which you had not labored, and cities which you didn’t build, and you live in them. You eat of vineyards and olive groves which you didn’t plant.’

Ahora, pues, yo os digo: Temed al Señor y servidle con un corazón bien perfecto y sincero, y quitad de en medio de vosotros los dioses a quienes sirvieron vuestros padres en Mesopotamia y en Egipto y servid a solo el Señor.

Pero si os parece malo el servir al Señor, libres sois: escoged hoy, según lo que más os agrade, a quien debéis antes servir, si a los dioses a quienes sirvieron vuestros padres en Mesopotamia, o a los dioses de los amorreos en cuya tierra habitáis; que yo y mi casa serviremos al Señor.

Y si mal os parece servir á Jehová, escogeos hoy á quién sirváis; si á los dioses á quienes sirvieron vuestros padres, cuando estuvieron de esotra parte del río, ó á los dioses de los Amorrheos en cuya tierra habitáis: que yo y mi casa serviremos á Jehová.

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Respondió el pueblo y dijo: Lejos de nosotros el abandonar al Señor y servir a dioses ajenos.

Entonces el pueblo respondió, y dijo: Nunca tal acontezca, que dejemos á Jehová por servir á otros dioses:

And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;

El Señor Dios nuestro es quien nos sacó a nosotros y a nuestros padres de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de la esclavitud, y obró a nuestros ojos milagros grandiosos, y nos guardó en todo el camino por donde anduvimos, y en todos los pueblos por donde pasamos;

Porque Jehová nuestro Dios es el que nos sacó á nosotros y á nuestros padres de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre; el cual delante de nuestros ojos ha hecho estas grandes señales, y nos ha guardado por todo el camino por donde hemos andado, y en todos los pueblos por entre los cuales pasamos.

For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:

y echó a todas las naciones a los amorreos habitantes del país en que nosotros hemos entrado. Así que serviremos al Señor; pues él es nuestro Dios.

Y Jehová echó de delante de nosotros á todos los pueblos, y al Amorrheo que habitaba en la tierra: nosotros, pues, también serviremos á Jehová, porque él es nuestro Dios.

And the LORD drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the LORD; for he is our God.

Dijo Josué al pueblo: No podréis servir al Señor: porque es un Dios santo, un Dios fuerte y celoso, que no sufrirá vuestras maldades y pecados.

Entonces Josué dijo al pueblo: No podréis servir á Jehová, porque él es Dios santo, y Dios celoso; no sufrirá vuestras rebeliones y vuestros pecados.

And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.

Joshua said to the people, “You can’t serve the LORD, for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God. He will not forgive your disobedience nor your sins.

Pues en el caso de que abandonéis al Señor, y sirváis a dioses ajenos, se volverá contra vosotros, y os afligirá y os arruinará, por más beneficios que os haya hecho.

Si dejareis á Jehová y sirviereis á dioses ajenos, se volverá, y os maltratará, y os consumirá, después que os ha hecho bien.

If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.

If you forsake the LORD, and serve foreign gods, then he will turn and do you evil, and consume you, after he has done you good.”

Replicó el pueblo a Josué: No, no será así como tú dices, sino que serviremos al Señor.

El pueblo entonces dijo á Josué: No, antes á Jehová serviremos.

And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the LORD.

The people said to Joshua, “No, but we will serve the LORD.”

Y Josué al pueblo: Testigos sois vosotros mismos de que habéis escogido al Señor para servirle. A lo que respondieron: Testigos somos.

Y Josué respondió al pueblo: Vosotros sois testigos contra vosotros mismos, de que os habéis elegido á Jehová para servirle. Y ellos respondieron: Testigos somos.

And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.

Joshua said to the people, “You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the LORD yourselves, to serve him.” They said, “We are witnesses.”

Ahora bien, añadió, arrojad de en medio de vosotros los dioses ajenos; y rendid vuestros corazones al Señor Dios de Israel.

Quitad, pues, ahora los dioses ajenos que están entre vosotros, é inclinad vuestro corazón á Jehová Dios de Israel.

Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel.

“Now therefore put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to the LORD, the God of Israel.”

Respondió el pueblo a Josué: Al Señor Dios nuestro serviremos, y seremos obedientes a sus mandatos.

Y el pueblo respondió á Josué: A Jehová nuestro Dios serviremos, y á su voz obedeceremos.

And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.

The people said to Joshua, “We will serve the LORD our God, and we will listen to his voice.”

Con esto Josué ratificó en aquel día la alianza; y propuso al pueblo en Siquem los preceptos y las leyes.

Entonces Josué hizo alianza con el pueblo el mismo día, y púsole ordenanzas y leyes en Sichêm.

So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.

Escribió también todas las palabras dichas en el Libro de la Ley del Señor, y cogió una piedra muy grande, y la colocó debajo de una encina, que estaba junto al Tabernáculo del Señor;

Y escribió Josué estas palabras en el libro de la ley de Dios; y tomando una grande piedra, levantóla allí debajo de un alcornoque que estaba junto al santuario de Jehová.

y dijo a todo el pueblo: Ved aquí esta piedra, que os dará testimonio de que oyó todas las palabras que os habló el Señor: no sea que después queráis negarlo, y mentir al Señor Dios vuestro.

Y dijo Josué á todo el pueblo: He aquí esta piedra será entre nosotros por testigo, la cual ha oído todas las palabras de Jehová que él ha hablado con nosotros: será, pues, testigo contra vosotros, porque no mintáis contra vuestro Dios.

And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God.

Despidió en seguida al pueblo para que cada uno se fuera a su tierra.

Y envió Josué al pueblo, cada uno á su heredad.

So Joshua let the people depart, every man unto his inheritance.

Concluidas estas cosas, murió Josué, hijo de Nun, siervo del Señor, siendo de ciento diez años,

y lo sepultaron en los términos de su posesión en Tamnat-Sare, ciudad situada en la montaña de Efraín, al norte del monte Gaas.

And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath-serah, which is in mount Ephraim, on the north side of the hill of Gaash.

Israel sirvió al Señor todos los días de la vida de Josué y de los ancianos que vivieron largo tiempo después de Josué, y tenían presentes todas las maravillas que el Señor había obrado a favor de Israel.
