Or Josué, fils de Nun, avait envoyé de Sittim deux hommes, pour épier secrètement le pays, et il leur avait dit : Allez, considérez le pays, et Jérico. Ils partirent donc, et vinrent dans la maison d’une femme paillarde, nommée Rahab, et couchèrent là.
Y JOSUÉ, hijo de Nun, envió desde Sittim dos espías secretamente, diciéndoles: Andad, reconoced la tierra, y á Jericó. Los cuales fueron, y entráronse en casa de una mujer ramera que se llamaba Rahab, y posaron allí.
And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot’s house, named Rahab, and lodged there.
Joshua the son of Nun secretly sent two men out of Shittim as spies, saying, “Go, view the land, including Jericho.” They went and came into the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and slept there.
Alors on dit au Roi de Jérico : Voilà des hommes qui sont venus ici cette nuit de la part des enfants d’Israël pour reconnaître le pays.
Y fué dado aviso al rey de Jericó, diciendo: He aquí que hombres de los hijos de Israel han venido aquí esta noche á espiar la tierra.
And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country.
The king of Jericho was told, “Behold, men of the children of Israel came in here tonight to spy out the land.”
Et le Roi de Jérico envoya vers Rahab, en disant : Fais sortir les hommes qui sont venus chez toi, et qui sont entrés dans ta maison ; car ils sont venus pour reconnaître tout le pays.
Entonces el rey de Jericó envió á decir á Rahab: Saca fuera los hombres que han venido á ti, y han entrado en tu casa; porque han venido á espiar toda la tierra.
And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.
Jericho’s king sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered into your house; for they have come to spy out all the land.”
Or la femme avait pris ces deux hommes, et les avait cachés ; et elle dit : Il est vrai que des hommes sont venus chez moi, mais je ne savais pas d’où ils étaient;
Mas la mujer había tomado los dos hombres, y los había escondido; y dijo: Verdad que hombres vinieron á mí, mas no supe de dónde eran:
And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were:
The woman took the two men and hid them. Then she said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I didn’t know where they came from.
Et comme on fermait la porte sur le soir, ces hommes-là sont sortis. Je ne sais point où ces hommes sont allés ; poursuivez-les bien vite, car vous les atteindrez.
Y al cerrarse la puerta, siendo ya oscuro, esos hombres se salieron, y no sé á dónde se han ido: seguidlos apriesa, que los alcanzaréis.
And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.
About the time of the shutting of the gate, when it was dark, the men went out. Where the men went, I don’t know. Pursue them quickly. You may catch up with them.”
Or elle les avait fait monter sur le toit, et les avait cachés dans des chènevottes de lin qu’elle avait arrangées sur le toit.
Mas ella los había hecho subir al terrado, y habíalos escondido entre tascos de lino que en aquel terrado tenía puestos.
But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.
But she had brought them up to the roof, and hidden them under the stalks of flax which she had laid in order on the roof.
Et quelques gens les poursuivirent par le chemin du Jourdain jusqu’aux passages ; et on ferma la porte après que ceux qui les poursuivaient furent sortis.
Y los hombres fueron tras ellos por el camino del Jordán, hasta los vados: y la puerta fué cerrada después que salieron los que tras ellos iban.
And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.
The men pursued them along the way to the fords of the Jordan River. As soon as those who pursued them had gone out, they shut the gate.
Or avant qu’ils se couchassent, elle monta vers eux sur le toit ;
Mas antes que ellos durmiesen, ella subió á ellos al terrado, y díjoles:
And before they were laid down, she came up unto them upon the roof;
Before they had lain down, she came up to them on the roof.
Et leur dit : Je connais que l’Eternel vous a donné le pays ; et que la terreur de votre nom nous a saisis, et que tous les habitants du pays sont devenus lâches à cause de vous.
Sé que Jehová os ha dado esta tierra; porque el temor de vosotros ha caído sobre nosotros, y todos los moradores del país están desmayados por causa de vosotros;
And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.
She said to the men, “I know that the LORD has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you.
Car nous avons entendu que l’Eternel a tari les eaux de la mer Rouge de devant vous, quand vous sortiez du pays d’Egypte ; et ce que vous ayez fait aux deux Rois des Amorrhéens qui étaient au delà du Jourdain, à Sihon et à Hog, que vous avez détruits à la façon de l’interdit.
Porque hemos oído que Jehová hizo secar las aguas del mar Bermejo delante de vosotros, cuando salisteis de Egipto, y lo que habéis hecho á los dos reyes de los Amorrheos que estaban de la parte allá del Jordán, á Sehón y á Og, á los cuales habéis destruído.
For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

Nous l’avons entendu, et notre coeur s’est fondu, et depuis cela aucun homme n’a eu de courage, à cause de vous ; car l’Eternel votre Dieu est le Dieu des cieux en haut, et de la terre en bas.
Oyendo esto, ha desmayado nuestro corazón; ni ha quedado más espíritu en alguno por causa de vosotros: porque Jehová vuestro Dios es Dios arriba en los cielos y abajo en la tierra.
And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

Maintenant donc, je vous prie, jurez-moi par l’Eternel, que puisque j’ai usé de gratuité envers vous, vous userez aussi de gratuité envers la maison de mon père, et que vous me donnerez des marques assurées,
Ruégoos pues ahora, me juréis por Jehová, que como he hecho misericordia con vosotros, así la haréis vosotros con la casa de mi padre, de lo cual me daréis una señal cierta;
Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father’s house, and give me a true token:
Now therefore, please swear to me by the LORD, since I have dealt kindly with you, that you also will deal kindly with my father’s house, and give me a true sign;
Que vous sauverez la vie à mon père et à ma mère, à mes frères et à mes soeurs, et à tous ceux qui leur appartiennent, et que vous garantirez nos personnes de la mort.
Y que salvaréis la vida á mi padre y á mi madre, y á mis hermanos y hermanas, y á todo lo que es suyo; y que libraréis nuestras vidas de la muerte.
And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.
and that you will save alive my father, my mother, my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and will deliver our lives from death.”
Et ces hommes lui répondirent : Nos personnes répondront pour vous jusques à la mort, pourvu que vous ne nous déceliez point en cette affaire ; et quand l’Eternel nous aura donné le pays nous userons envers toi de gratuité et de vérité.
Y ellos le respondieron: Nuestra alma por vosotros hasta la muerte, si no denunciareis este nuestro negocio: y cuando Jehová nos hubiere dado la tierra, nosotros haremos contigo misericordia y verdad.
And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.
The men said to her, “Our life for yours, if you don’t talk about this business of ours; and it shall be, when the LORD gives us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.”
Elle les fit donc descendre avec une corde par la fenêtre ; car sa maison était sur la muraille de la ville, et elle habitait sur la muraille de la ville.
Entonces ella los hizo descender con una cuerda por la ventana; porque su casa estaba á la pared del muro, y ella vivía en el muro.
Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the town wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.

Et elle leur dit : Allez à la montagne, de peur que ceux qui vous poursuivent ne vous rencontrent, et cachez-vous là trois jours jusqu’à ce que ceux qui vous poursuivent soient de retour ; et après cela vous irez votre chemin.
Y díjoles: Marchaos al monte, porque los que fueron tras vosotros no os encuentren; y estad escondidos allí tres días, hasta que los que os siguen hayan vuelto; y después os iréis vuestro camino.
And she said unto them, Get you to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned: and afterward may ye go your way.
She said to them, “Go to the mountain, lest the pursuers find you. Hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers have returned. Afterward, you may go your way.”
Or ces hommes lui avaient dit : Nous serons quittes en cette manière-ci de ce serment que tu nous as fait faire ;
Y ellos le dijeron: Nosotros seremos desobligados de este juramento con que nos has conjurado.
And the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.
The men said to her, “We will be guiltless of this your oath which you’ve made us to swear.
Voici, quand nous entrerons au pays, tu lieras ce cordon de fil d’écarlate à la fenêtre par laquelle tu nous auras fait descendre, et tu retireras chez toi, dans cette maison ton père et ta mère, tes frères, et toute la famille de ton père.
He aquí, cuando nosotros entráremos en la tierra, tú atarás este cordón de grana á la ventana por la cual nos descolgaste: y tú juntarás en tu casa tu padre y tu madre, tus hermanos y toda la familia de tu padre.
Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father’s household, home unto thee.
Behold, when we come into the land, tie this line of scarlet thread in the window which you used to let us down. Gather to yourself into the house your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household.
Et quiconque sortira hors de la porte de ta maison, son sang sera sur sa tête, et nous en serons quittes ; mais quiconque sera avec toi, dans la maison, son sang sera sur notre tête si quelqu’un met la main sur lui.
Cualquiera que saliere fuera de las puertas de tu casa, su sangre será sobre su cabeza, y nosotros sin culpa. Mas cualquiera que se estuviere en casa contigo, su sangre será sobre nuestra cabeza, si mano le tocare.
And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.
It shall be that whoever goes out of the doors of your house into the street, his blood will be on his head, and we will be guiltless. Whoever is with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand is on him.
Que si tu nous décèles en cette affaire, nous serons quittes du serment que tu nous as fait faire.
Y si tú denunciares este nuestro negocio, nosotros seremos desobligados de este tu juramento con que nos has juramentado.
And if thou utter this our business, then we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.
But if you talk about this business of ours, then we shall be guiltless of your oath which you’ve made us to swear.”
Et elle répondit : Que cela soit ainsi que vous l’avez dit. Alors elle les laissa aller, et ils s’en allèrent ; et elle lia le cordon de fil d’écarlate à la fenêtre.
Y ella respondió: Sea así como habéis dicho. Luego los despidió, y se fueron: y ella ató el cordón de grana á la ventana.
And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.
She said, “Let it be as you have said.” She sent them away, and they departed. Then she tied the scarlet line in the window.
Et eux marchant arrivèrent à la montagne, et demeurèrent là trois jours, jusqu’à ce que ceux qui les poursuivaient fussent revenus, et ceux qui les poursuivaient cherchèrent dans tout le chemin, mais ils ne les trouvèrent point.
Y caminando ellos, llegaron al monte, y estuvieron allí tres días, hasta que los que los seguían se hubiesen vuelto: y los que los siguieron, buscaron por todo el camino, mas no los hallaron.
And they went, and came unto the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but found them not.
They went and came to the mountain, and stayed there three days, until the pursuers had returned. The pursuers sought them all along the way, but didn’t find them.
Ainsi ces deux hommes s’en retournèrent, et descendirent de la montagne, et passèrent, et vinrent à Josué, fils de Nun, et lui récitèrent toutes les choses qui leur étaient arrivées.
Y tornándose los dos varones, descendieron del monte, y pasaron, y vinieron á Josué hijo de Nun, y contáronle todas las cosas que les habían acontecido.
So the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all things that befell them:
Then the two men returned, descended from the mountain, crossed the river, and came to Joshua the son of Nun. They told him all that had happened to them.
Et ils dirent à Josué : Certainement l’Eternel a livré tout le pays entre nos mains ; et même tous les habitants du pays ont perdu courage à notre vue.
Y dijeron á Josué: Jehová ha entregado toda la tierra en nuestras manos; y también todos los moradores del país están desmayados delante de nosotros.
And they said unto Joshua, Truly the LORD hath delivered into our hands all the land; for even all the inhabitants of the country do faint because of us.
They said to Joshua, “Truly the LORD has delivered all the land into our hands. Moreover, all the inhabitants of the land melt away before us.”
