Josué 7

Hubo un gran pecado entre los israelitas. Alguien desobedeció el mandato de Dios de destruir todo salvo lo que estaba reservado para los tesoros del Señor. Acán, hijo de Carmí, nieto de Zabdí y bisnieto de Zera, de la tribu de Judá, tomó parte del botín para sí, y el Señor se enojó con toda la nación a causa de esto.

EMPERO los hijos de Israel cometieron prevaricación en el anatema: porque Achân, hijo de Carmi, hijo de Zabdi, hijo de Zera, de la tribu de Judá, tomó del anatema; y la ira de Jehová se encendió contra los hijos de Israel.

But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.

But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the devoted things; for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of the devoted things. Therefore the LORD’s anger burned against the children of Israel.

Poco después de la derrota de Jericó, Josué envió a sus hombres a reconocer la ciudad de Hai que queda al oriente de Betel.

Y Josué envió hombres desde Jericó á Hai, que estaba junto á Beth-aven hacia el oriente de Beth-el; y hablóles diciendo: Subid, y reconoced la tierra. Y ellos subieron, y reconocieron á Hai.

And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth-aven, on the east side of Beth-el, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.

Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, “Go up and spy out the land.” The men went up and spied out Ai.

A su regreso le dijeron a Josué: «Es una ciudad pequeña y bastará con dos o tres mil hombres para destruirla; no es necesario que vayamos todos nosotros a tomarla».

Y volviendo á Josué, dijéronle: No suba todo el pueblo, mas suban como dos mil ó como tres mil hombres, y tomarán á Hai: no fatigues á todo el pueblo allí, porque son pocos.

And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.

They returned to Joshua, and said to him, “Don’t let all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and strike Ai. Don’t make all the people to toil there, for there are only a few of them.”

Mandaron, pues, a unos tres mil soldados a tomarla, y fueron completamente derrotados.

Y subieron allá del pueblo como tres mil hombres, los cuales huyeron delante de los de Hai.

So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.

So about three thousand men of the people went up there, and they fled before the men of Ai.

Unos treinta y seis israelitas murieron durante el ataque, y muchos otros murieron mientras huían perseguidos por los hombres de Hai por toda la bajada hasta Sebarim. El pueblo israelita se paralizó de temor ante estos acontecimientos.

Y los de Hai hirieron de ellos como treinta y seis hombres, y siguiéronlos desde la puerta hasta Sebarim, y los rompieron en la bajada: por lo que se disolvió el corazón del pueblo, y vino á ser como agua.

And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.

The men of Ai struck about thirty-six men of them. They chased them from before the gate even to Shebarim, and struck them at the descent. The hearts of the people melted, and became like water.

Josué y los ancianos de Israel rasgaron su ropa y se postraron delante del cofre del Señor echando polvo sobre sus cabezas.

Entonces Josué rompió sus vestidos, y postróse en tierra sobre su rostro delante del arca de Jehová hasta la tarde, él y los ancianos de Israel; y echaron polvo sobre sus cabezas.

And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.

Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the LORD’s ark until the evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads.

Josué clamó al Señor: ―Oh Señor, ¿por qué nos hiciste cruzar el río Jordán si ibas a permitir que los amorreos nos dieran muerte? ¿Por qué no nos quedamos en la otra orilla?

Y Josué dijo: ¡Ah, Señor Jehová! ¿Por qué hiciste pasar á este pueblo el Jordán, para entregarnos en las manos de los Amorrheos, que nos destruyan? ¡Ojalá nos hubiéramos quedado de la otra parte del Jordán!

And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord GOD, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!

Joshua said, “Alas, Lord GOD, why have you brought this people over the Jordan at all, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to cause us to perish? I wish that we had been content and lived beyond the Jordan!

Oh Señor, ¿qué voy a hacer ahora que Israel ha huido delante de sus enemigos?

¡Ay Señor! ¿qué diré, ya que Israel ha vuelto las espaldas delante de sus enemigos?

O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies!

Oh, Lord, what shall I say, after Israel has turned their backs before their enemies?

Porque cuando los cananeos y los demás pueblos cercanos lo oigan, nos rodearán, nos atacarán y nos exterminarán. Y cuando esto ocurra, ¿qué habrá de la honra que merece tu gran nombre?

Porque los Cananeos y todos los moradores de la tierra oirán, y nos cercarán, y raerán nuestro nombre de sobre la tierra: entonces ¿qué harás tú á tu grande nombre?

For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?

For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it, and will surround us, and cut off our name from the earth. What will you do for your great name?”

Pero el Señor le dijo a Josué: ―Levántate, ¿por qué estás postrado?

Y Jehová dijo á Josué: Levántate; ¿por qué te postras así sobre tu rostro?

And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?

The LORD said to Joshua, “Get up! Why have you fallen on your face like that?

Israel ha pecado y ha desobedecido mis órdenes, y ha tomado botín cuando yo les dije que no lo tomaran. No solamente lo han tomado, sino que han mentido acerca de ello y lo han escondido entre sus pertenencias.

Israel ha pecado, y aun han quebrantado mi pacto que yo les había mandado; pues aun han tomado del anatema, y hasta han hurtado, y también han mentido, y aun lo han guardado entre sus enseres.

Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.

Israel has sinned. Yes, they have even transgressed my covenant which I commanded them. Yes, they have even taken some of the devoted things, and have also stolen, and also deceived. They have even put it among their own stuff.

Por esta razón Israel está siendo derrotado, por esta razón tus hombres están huyendo delante de sus enemigos. ¡Están malditos! No permaneceré con ustedes a menos que se libren completamente de este pecado.

Por esto los hijos de Israel no podrán estar delante de sus enemigos, sino que delante de sus enemigos volverán las espaldas; por cuanto han venido á ser anatema: ni seré más con vosotros, si no destruyereis el anatema de en medio de vosotros.

Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.

Therefore the children of Israel can’t stand before their enemies. They turn their backs before their enemies, because they have become devoted for destruction. I will not be with you any more, unless you destroy the devoted things from among you.

Levántate y dile al pueblo: Cada uno de ustedes debe pasar por los ritos de la purificación en preparación para mañana, porque el Señor su Dios dice que alguien ha robado lo que a él le pertenecía y no podremos derrotar a nuestros enemigos hasta que acabemos con este pecado.

Levántate, santifica al pueblo, y di: Santificaos para mañana; porque Jehová el Dios de Israel dice así: Anatema hay en medio de ti, Israel; no podrás estar delante de tus enemigos, hasta tanto que hayáis quitado el anatema de en medio de vosotros.

Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.

Get up! Sanctify the people, and say, ‘Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, for the LORD, the God of Israel, says, “There is a devoted thing among you, Israel. You cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the devoted thing from among you.”

Mañana por la mañana deben comparecer por tribus y el Señor señalará cuál es la tribu culpable. Luego la tribu se presentará por clanes y el Señor señalará cuál es el clan al que pertenece el hombre culpable. Luego el clan comparecerá por familias y entonces señalará la familia culpable y, por último, cada miembro de esa familia comparecerá por sí solo.

Os allegaréis, pues, mañana por vuestras tribus; y la tribu que Jehová tomare, se allegará por sus familias; y la familia que Jehová tomare, se allegará por sus casas; y la casa que Jehová tomare, allegaráse por los varones;

In the morning therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which the LORD taketh shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which the LORD shall take shall come by households; and the household which the LORD shall take shall come man by man.

In the morning therefore you shall be brought near by your tribes. It shall be that the tribe which the LORD selects shall come near by families. The family which the LORD selects shall come near by households. The household which the LORD selects shall come near man by man.

El que haya robado lo que pertenece al Señor será quemado junto con todo lo que tiene, porque ha violado el pacto del Señor y ha traído calamidades sobre Israel.

Y el que fuere cogido en el anatema, será quemado á fuego, él y todo lo que tiene, por cuanto ha quebrantado el pacto de Jehová, y ha cometido maldad en Israel.

And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.

It shall be, that he who is taken with the devoted thing shall be burned with fire, he and all that he has, because he has transgressed the LORD’s covenant, and because he has done a disgraceful thing in Israel.’”

Al día siguiente, siendo muy temprano, Josué presentó las tribus de Israel delante del Señor y fue señalada la tribu de Judá.

Josué, pues, levantándose de mañana, hizo allegar á Israel por sus tribus; y fué tomada la tribu de Judá;

So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken:

So Joshua rose up early in the morning and brought Israel near by their tribes. The tribe of Judah was selected.

Entonces se presentaron los clanes de Judá y fue señalado el clan de Zera. Luego se presentaron las familias de aquel clan delante del Señor y fue apartada la familia de Zabdí.

Y haciendo allegar la tribu de Judá, fué tomada la familia de los de Zera; haciendo luego allegar la familia de los de Zera por los varones, fué tomado Zabdi;

And he brought the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken:

He brought near the family of Judah, and he selected the family of the Zerahites. He brought near the family of the Zerahites man by man, and Zabdi was selected.

Los hombres de la familia de Zabdí se presentaron uno por uno y Acán fue señalado como culpable del pecado.

E hizo allegar su casa por los varones, y fué tomado Achân, hijo de Carmi, hijo de Zabdi, hijo de Zera, de la tribu de Judá.

And he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.

He brought near his household man by man, and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was selected.

Josué entonces le dijo a Acán: ―Hijo mío, da gloria al Dios de Israel y haz tu confesión. Dime lo que has hecho.

Entonces Josué dijo á Achân: Hijo mío, da gloria ahora á Jehová el Dios de Israel, y dale alabanza, y declárame ahora lo que has hecho; no me lo encubras.

And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.

Joshua said to Achan, “My son, please give glory to the LORD, the God of Israel, and make confession to him. Tell me now what you have done! Don’t hide it from me!”

Acán contestó: ―He pecado contra el Señor, el Dios de Israel.

Y Achân respondió á Josué, diciendo: Verdaderamente yo he pecado contra Jehová el Dios de Israel, y he hecho así y así:

And Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done:

Achan answered Joshua, and said, “I have truly sinned against the LORD, the God of Israel, and this is what I have done.

Vi un hermoso manto importado de Babilonia, casi dos kilos y medio de plata y una barra de oro como de seiscientos gramos. Sentí tanto deseo de poseer todo aquello que lo tomé y lo escondí en la tierra debajo de mi tienda. Allí están, y la plata está debajo de todo.

Que vi entre los despojos un manto babilónico muy bueno, y doscientos siclos de plata, y un changote de oro de peso de cincuenta siclos; lo cual codicié, y tomé: y he aquí que está escondido debajo de tierra en el medio de mi tienda, y el dinero debajo de ello.

When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.

When I saw among the plunder a beautiful Babylonian robe, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, then I coveted them and took them. Behold, they are hidden in the ground in the middle of my tent, with the silver under it.”

Josué envió a algunos hombres a buscar el botín. Corrieron a la tienda y hallaron las cosas robadas donde Acán había dicho, y la plata estaba debajo de todo.

Josué entonces envió mensajeros, los cuales fueron corriendo á la tienda; y he aquí estaba escondido en su tienda, y el dinero debajo de ello:

So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it.

So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent. Behold, it was hidden in his tent, with the silver under it.

Trajeron todo a Josué y lo dejaron en tierra frente al Señor.

Y tomándolo de en medio de la tienda, trajéronlo á Josué y á todos los hijos de Israel, y pusiéronlo delante de Jehová.

And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD.

They took them from the middle of the tent, and brought them to Joshua and to all the children of Israel. They laid them down before the LORD.

Josué y todos los israelitas tomaron a Acán, la plata, el manto; el oro, sus hijos, sus hijas, sus bueyes, sus burros, sus ovejas, la tienda y todo lo que él tenía, y lo llevaron al valle de Acor.

Entonces Josué, y todo Israel con él, tomó á Achân hijo de Zera, y el dinero, y el manto, y el changote de oro, y sus hijos, y sus hijas, y sus bueyes, y sus asnos, y sus ovejas, y su tienda, y todo cuanto tenía, y lleváronlo todo al valle de Achôr;

And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.

Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his cattle, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all that he had; and they brought them up to the valley of Achor.

Allí Josué dijo a Acán: ―¿Por qué has traído esta calamidad sobre nosotros? Ahora el Señor traerá calamidad sobre ti. Los hombres de Israel los apedrearon y luego quemaron sus cuerpos

Y dijo Josué: ¿Por qué nos has turbado? Túrbete Jehová en este día. Y todos los Israelitas los apedrearon, y los quemaron á fuego, después de apedrearlos con piedras;

And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.

Joshua said, “Why have you troubled us? The LORD will trouble you today.” All Israel stoned him with stones, and they burned them with fire and stoned them with stones.

e hicieron un gran montón de piedras sobre ellos. Las piedras todavía están allí hasta el día de hoy, y ese lugar aún es conocido como el valle de la Calamidad. Entonces el Señor calmó su ira.

Y levantaron sobre él un gran montón de piedras, hasta hoy. Y Jehová se tornó de la ira de su furor. Y por esto fué llamado aquel lugar el Valle de Achôr, hasta hoy.

And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.
