Meus amigos queridos, eu estive planejando escrever-lhes a respeito da salvação que Deus nos deu, porém agora vejo que em vez disso devo escrever-lhes de outra coisa, insistindo com vocês para que defendam bravamente a fé que Deus, uma vez por todas, entregou ao seu povo.
Amados, por la gran solicitud que tenía de escribiros de la común salud, me ha sido necesario escribiros amonestándoos que contendáis eficazmente por la fe que ha sido una vez dada á los santos.
Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Digo isso porque alguns homens ímpios infiltraram-se entre vocês sem serem notados, dizendo que depois que nos tornamos cristãos podemos andar como quisermos. Esses ímpios transformaram a graça de nosso Deus, e o destino de tais pessoas já está traçado há muito tempo, pois elas se voltaram contra o nosso único Mestre e Senhor, Jesus Cristo.
Porque algunos hombres han entrado encubiertamente, los cuales desde antes habían estado ordenados para esta condenación, hombres impíos, convirtiendo la gracia de nuestro Dios en disolución, y negando á Dios que solo es el que tiene dominio, y á nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Lembrem-se deste fato — que vocês já conhecem — que o Senhor salvou da terra do Egito uma nação inteira de pessoas e depois matou cada uma delas que não confiou nele e não lhe obedeceu.

E lembro a vocês aqueles anjos que não ficaram dentro dos limites da autoridade concedida a eles, mas que abandonaram sua própria morada; Deus os conserva acorrentados em prisões de escuridão, aguardando o juízo do grande dia.
Y á los ángeles que no guardaron su dignidad, mas dejaron su habitación, los ha reservado debajo de oscuridad en prisiones eternas hasta el juicio del gran día:
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

E não se esqueçam das cidades de Sodoma e Gomorra, e as cidades vizinhas, todas cheias de imoralidade de toda espécie, inclusive a paixão de homens por outros homens. Aquelas cidades foram destruídas pelo fogo e continuam a servir de advertência para nós de que existe o castigo do fogo eterno.

E ainda assim esses homens sonhadores continuam a viver vidas pecaminosas e imorais, desonrando seus próprios corpos, e rejeitam aqueles que têm autoridade sobre eles, até mesmo escarnecendo dos gloriosos seres celestiais.
De la misma manera también estos soñadores amancillan la carne, y menosprecian la potestad, y vituperan las potestades superiores.
Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

O próprio Miguel, um dos anjos mais poderosos, quando estava discutindo com o Diabo a respeito do corpo de Moisés, não se atreveu a acusar ou zombar dele, mas simplesmente lhe disse: “Que o Senhor o repreenda!”

São pastores que cuidam de si mesmos. São como nuvens sem chuva que o vento carrega. São como árvores frutíferas no outono sem nenhum fruto na ocasião da colheita. Não estão apenas mortos, mas duplamente mortos, pois foram arrancados, com raízes e tudo.

Tudo o que eles deixam atrás de si é vergonha e desonra, como a espuma suja deixada pelas ondas bravias do mar. Andam vagueando de um lado para o outro, como estrelas errantes, mas adiante deles estão as densas trevas eternas que Deus preparou para eles.

Essas pessoas são exploradores constantes, eternos insatisfeitos, fazendo todo o mal que lhes dá vontade; são uns exibicionistas espalhafatosos, e quando mostram interesse para com os outros, é só para conseguir deles alguma coisa em retribuição.

Queridos amigos, lembrem-se do que os apóstolos do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo profetizaram.

Eles provocam divisões entre vocês; amam os desejos pecaminosos da sua alma e não têm o Espírito de Deus morando neles.

Mas vocês, queridos amigos, devem edificar as suas vidas firmemente sobre o alicerce da santíssima fé que vocês têm, e devem orar no poder e na força do Espírito Santo.

Salvem alguns, arrebatando-os do fogo. E quanto aos outros, ajudem-nos a encontrar o Senhor, sendo misericordiosos com eles, mas tomem cuidado para que vocês mesmos não sejam arrastados para os mesmos pecados deles. Detestem qualquer vestígio do pecado deles, mesmo a sua roupa, contaminada pelos seus desejos pecaminosos.
